FIVE FUN WINTER OUTFITS I WORE IN MOSTAR

Hello readers and fellow bloggers! In this post, I'll share five winter outfits I wore in Mostar. Winter fashion doesn't have to be boring. This is especially the case if you know how to maximize your closet. Fun accessories and layering can be your best friends in the cold winter months. If you're a fan of colour, don't be afraid to embrace it. If you're a fan of print, embrace that as well. Have fun with fashion! Try out new things! Some people live for the all black chic, and that's a perfectly valid choice, but if you're thinking of wearing more colour take my advice- just do it. There are many ways to wear colour in the Winter- you can go for earthly tones if vivid colours are not your cup of tea. You could add subtle touches of colour with printed items. The possibilities are endless! 

How are you doing?  I have been quite busy lately. I have started a new job, so my holiday break was quite short (...and unpaid at that). However, that doesn't mean that I didn't have fun with clothes. I wore some pretty fun outfits. Moreover, I'm not complaining of anything. With the hours I work, I'm often exhausted, but I'm also grateful for the opportunity to work. Moreover, it was my decision to take on a new job, and I'm trying to make the most out of it. I'm embracing changes in my life. 

HOW TO WEAR SUMMER ITEMS IN WINTER? BY LAYERING THEM WELL! 

The answer to wearing summer items in winter all comes down to layering. There are many ways you can layer your outfits. When we talk about layering in winter, we're mostly talking about layering of clothes, but of course you can layer with shoes as well. Boots are generally better for keeping warm.

In this post, you'll see me wearing quite a few 'summer items' but styled for winter!

THE BROWN 'RIDING' BOOTS - old

This is a pair I wear very often, especially when it gets cold! High boots are great for keeping warm, and they can also look very stylish. This pair reminds me of riding boots, and they are quite comfortable. This is also a pair of boots I have illustrated before! In fact, I HAVE ILLUSTRATED THIS PAIR OF BROWN BOOTS THREE TIMES! That means they are one of the most illustrated pairs of shoes in my closet, doesn't it? Do you want to see how I did it? So, I'm over thirty wears with this pair! I mean getting to thirty wears with a comfortable pairs of boots is easy.

A A MINI BURGUNDY LEATHER BAG- bought in Borsa store in Mostar,  I'm not sure how many times I have worn this bag more than thirty times for sure, most recently in this post.

All in all, this was a lovely winter styling. One of my favourite cold weather outfits from last year for sure. This was a fun outfit to wear if not terribly original. By that I mean, that I wore this coat in combination with these boots half a dozen time. However, this time I refreshed the combination by opting for a summer item- aka this lilac set. I think lilac looks great paired with camel and gold. I wish I had some brown or lilac tights, but I opted for this black pair simply because it's the warmest one.

What was the occasion for wearing this? Once again, I was a tourist in my own town, meaning I wore it to explore Mostar.

This is another winter styling I wore in Mostar to run errands. If I recall well, I went to tax office to get some paperwork done before I started a new job.

A MINI BLACK BAG WITH GOLDEN CHAIN- (from Borsa store in Mostar) 

Is there any item in this outfit that I have illustrated before? Actually there is! I illustrated this bag in 2022 when I shared an illustration of an all black outfit (completed with another DIY faux leather necklace).

What was the occasion to wear this outfit? Well, to explore Mostar town in this festive time! You can see some of the holiday decorations in this post. For example, check out the festively decorated bridge fountain in city park Zrinjevac. You guys know that I love to show you around Mostar! 

Anyhow, I really like how this outfit turned out. It was comfortable, but I also felt dressed up in it. You could say that it's my favourite kind of outfit.

THE BURGUNDY TARTAN JACKET- alpine pro

2024

1) In February 2024, I  wore this tartan jacket with a pink sweater, a green dress, a biker and the burgundy bag (that I'm also sporting today). 

2020

2) In 2020, I wore it with a button up dress, biker boots and a turtleneck.

2021

3) I wore this same tartan puffer jacket in 2021, when I present it as one of seven outfit ideas for transitional weather. You can see the details of that outfit in brackets (TARTAN JACKET, SEMI PLEATED SKIRT, POINTY BOOTS, BLACK BAG, MUSTARD SWEATER). As you can see, I paired it with the same mustard sweater as well. Honestly, that was another fun outfit to wear and so easy to put together. 

4) I wore this tartan jacket with a black top and a denim skirt for a visit to Blagaj fortress in 2021. 

5) In 2021, this jacket was also featured as one of 17 outfits with a pair of flared blue jeans. 

2019

6) In 2019, I included this jacket into a post that featured my favourite winter outwear. 

7) In 2019, I also included it in this winter outfit proposal, when I styled this jacket with a grey midi vintage pencil skirt with a slit, a pair of heeled boots and a white beret. Possibly one of my favourite outfits ever, it just looked so effortlessly chic. 

2018

8) In 2018, I wore this jacket with a pink dress, black leggings and Šimecki boots for a seaside walk (Žnjan) in Split 

9) I also wore it with jeans, biker boots and a blue turtleneck for another seaside walk in Split.

2017

10) In 2017, I paired this checkered jacket with a black pencil skirt, brown boots and a striped tote bag. 

2016

11) In 2016,  wore this jacket with hand painted vintage jeans and a hand painter white turtleneck for a post where I talked about (guess what)- textile painting on clothes. 

12) I wore it with a long turtleneck dress, leggings and doc martens in 2016 for a winter look. 

2015

13) I wore it with a hand painted white skirt, camel boots and bw dress in 2015. 

 

14) That same year, I also wore it with my iconic seaweed green dress, lilac sweater and doc martens boots. 

15) Moreover, in 2015, I wore it with a mint vintage midi skirt paired with neosens heels and faux fur leg warmers (that came with this pair of heels and that I still have). This was one of my favourite looks with this skirt. The combination of this high waist midi of  and this jacket that is almost cropped was so perfect.

2014

16) In 2014, I paired this jacket with this same yellow tartan skirt and an adorable floral vintage bag I had since childhood. 

2024 AGAIN

17) In December, I wore it with a yellow tartan skirt, a mustard sweater, black boots and a burgundy bag for a stroll in Split city. 

THE BABY BLUE SHIRT (old)

THE OLIVE GREEN SKIRT (old) 

This olive green skirt is actually a part of a suit (it's a blazer and skirt combo set). This is an outfit I wore to an art exhibition. I wasn't really impressed with this art exhibition. As much as I'm an art lover, occasionally I come across art that I don't understand. This was one of those times.

THE BLACK LEATHER JACKET (vintage) 

I'm very attached to this vintage item. My husband received it as a gift from his late brother more than thirty years ago. I feel so lucky to be able to wear it, for both practical (it's a high quality leather jacket) and sentimental reasons. As I always say, there are many benefits to shopping your closet. I genuinely do enjoy thinking of different ways to wear an item. It's not just about sustainability, I have fun shopping my closet. Moreover, I also enjoy shopping my husband's closet. If you have a significant other or a friend that doesn't mind you borrowing clothes from them, they you're truly lucky.
