VISIT MALTA WITH IVANA- HIKING TALES- CLOUDY DAYS (PART SIX)
Hello! Time for part sixth in my Malta series. How many posts will there will be in the series? We'll see. Maybe a few more, maybe a lot more. Who knows maybe I'll get to visit Malta again? Perhaps I'll move to Malta? You never know.
In this post, I'll write more about my hiking experiences on Malta. What I will perhaps remember Malta best for were these solitary hikes. While my friend was at work, I would walk around and explore Malta on my own. Of course, Malta is a tourist destination for a reason, besides being a stunning island, it's quite rich in history and culture. As wonderful as it was visiting the well know sights and famous places, it was just as much fun seeing the side of Malta that isn't so touristy, and exploring the parts that are usually lesser know.
So, we're continuing with the exploration of Malta. After all, my visit there wasn't a short one. I was there for full two weeks (if I remember correctly). There's a lot I had an opportunity to record and post about. Today I'll like to share some photographs I snapped on my solitary hikes through Malta. I'll also post some collages to give you a glimpse of my previous visits to Malta. If you want to see those posts or just see Malta in more detail, all you need to do is to follow the links I'll leave you with.
MY PREVIOUS VISITS TO MALTA
VISIT MALTA WITH IVANA- HIKING TALES- VALLETTA
Hello! In this post, we shall explore, Valletta, a city of incredibly rich history. Besides it being the capital of Malta, Valletta is one of the most concentrated historical sites in the world. Simply a dream place for a historical lover like myself. Apart from being a historical landmark like no other, Valletta is simply amazingly beautiful.
VALLETTA! THE BEAUTY, THE STRENGHT AND THE HISTORY
During my stay in Malta, I visited Valetta a couple of times. My first visit was my friend Ivana, who was simply an ideal host. She was my guide and showed me a around. We've had such an amazing time strolling Valletta together. My other visits to Valletta were by myself. I strolled around the city and marvelled at how beautiful it was. I remember having an espresso by myself in a small cafe. Everyone called me 'mademoiselle' for some reason. Maybe they thought I was French. I get asked if I'm French sometimes, I think it's just something that people say when they can't figure out where you're from. Anyway, I enjoyed those solitary visits too, but I think I enjoyed our shared visit a little more. Valletta is a city best explored with a friend! Today I'll showed you where the two of us have been.
VISIT MALTA WITH IVANA- HIKING TALES- SAINT JULIAN'S
In this post, I took you to Saint Julian's on Malta. Saint Julian's is a touristic town that is perhaps best described as a mix of traditional and new. The contrast is quite dramatic, you can literally see ancient ruins next to high skyscrapers. As you stroll Saint Julian's, you might even feel like you've wondered upon a construction site, as new skyscrapers seem to be rising continuously. Still, despite all of continuous construction and urban development, Saint Julian's has kept some of its old charm and remains a popular tourist site. Located only about ten kilometers north from Valletta, St. Julian's is a great place to visit. Here you'll see old traditional fishing boats located next to restaurants and night clubs.

ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet of you to say, thanks!
DeleteWonderful photos Ivana. You always seem to meet cats in your travels! :-D
ReplyDeleteYes, Ananka, I do. In fact, I plan to do a special post about it, showing how many feline friends I made on my travels.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteOn the subject of being asked if you were French in Valleta, it happens to me in my own country, when I visit some tourist place I'm always asked if I'm Nordic, because in fact the Portuguese are brunettes and not as blonde and blue-eyed as me! After this aside, I have to tell you that your walks were very productive in terms of photos, I enjoyed travelling with you! The views are marvellous, if you like nature and greenery so much you have to visit the islands of the Azores (Portugal), the island of S. Miguel is of stunning natural beauty! Hugs
That makes sense. It's funny when you're mistaken for a tourist in your own country. It happened to me once or twice, too.
DeleteMalta is surely vey scenic and it's cool that it's hikable as well. Thanks for showing us around.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for stopping by, Rowena! I hope you are well.
