Imprimatur ( ...and why is leather jacket always a good choice? ...i zašto je kožna jakna uvijek dobar izbor?)

I bought Imprimatur by Rita Monaldi and Francesco Sorti a while back, but totally forgot about it. I discovered and read it last month.  I wouldn't go so far as calling it a page-turner but it was an interesting book to read. The fact that the authors did a lot of reasearch before publishing this novel was obvious but they could have done a better job presenting their finds. Long story short, it is an enjoyable read but it lacks dept. What Monaldi & Sorti wrote is not a bad book, but in opinion it is not really a novel. By that I mean it is not a work of literature.  It is not something that will be studied at the Universities. In other words, it's no Umberto Eco. The characters are a bit stereotyped and predictable. The plot is good but some things are repeated ad nauseum. I do recommend it as it seems to be better than what you can find in historical fiction genre these days. Plus, it is clear that the authors did put some effort into it. So, I give it my recommendantion, but a lukewarm one. If 'real' literature is what you go for, skip this one. Most of my book recommendations so far have been classics and that might have given you a false impression that is all I read. However, that is not so. It is just that classics are often classics for a reason.

Kupila sam Imprimatura Rite Monaldi i Francesca Sortija prije dosta vremena, ali sam posve zaboravila na njim. Otkrila sam ju i pročitala prošloga mjeseca. Drugim riječima, baš i nije Umberto Eco. No, nije tako.

Alright, enough about books. Let's talk fashion. Why is leather jacket always a good idea? I'm tempted to answer with 'just because' as answering that question might take a while. My mind wants to jump back in time and tell you how it all started but  this once I'll fight off the desire to digress. I'll also try to keep it short. Hopefully, I'm getting better at summarizing things. So, I'll name a few reasons why I think wearing a leather jacket  is always a good idea.

1. It can be worn with everything. Seriously, with anything! Name one other item that can be worn with joggers and a gown without making you look like a crazy person? I dare you to it. Can you think of anything? I can't. A trench coat comes close, but if you wear a trench coat with your gym clothes you won't look as cool as you would be if you worn them with the leather jacket.

2. It looks fantastic on both genders. It does! It is one sole items that I equally adore to see on both men and women. A good leather jacket is not only timeless, it is unisex. This is good news because you can steal it from your sweatheart. You can share it! How romantic!

3. It is the perfect item to get any outfit dressed down. It really is. Like I explained in my first point, wearing a leather jacket makes any outfit more cool and effortless.

4. From a strickly practical point of view, a leather jacket blocks wind. It really keeps you protected against the wind (that was its prime function back in the day). It is also a great protection against the sun ( I see some of you thinking WHAT? but when you live in a region when sun can gets quite intense, you get it). When a day is hot and sunny yet windy,  it may be all that is standing between you and a cold.

5. You might get confused for a rock star. ( And who doesn't want that?!!!!) I mean does this clothing item has that badass vibe or what? Invoke your inner rebel. Wear it with pride. Rock it. Own it. Leather jacket can be a very powerful clothing item when you wear it with the right attitude.

Dobro, dosta o knjigama.

Prava romantika.

  2. Dear Ivana, well, a lukewarm recommendation is honest, and yes, I do prefer classics more, so thanks for that! It's also true that a leather jacket goes well with everything, or nearly :) I think it is great with skirts, jeans, even what is consider more sophisticated fabrics and also pearls :) You look lovely with your leather jacket and the photos are great!

Second, I love the progressive photos of you reading. Love your expression in them. And finally, I love your list of reasons for wearing a leather jacket, especially #'s4 &5! That was so fun to read. 22. Hello Ivana! Good to know that this "novel" isn't as much good as you thought, personally I also like books which aren't predictable. What about leather jacket I can't agree with you more - it's timeless and classic pieces, real essential in every wardrobe, because it can be style with everything and it will be always good decision :) And I love your last reason why did you choose this jacket - feeling like a rock star is definately something, which is achieved easily, when you have nearby leather jacket. You in yours look really pretty and I think that this hairstyle also suits to your outfit, dear :)

It's unusual to see you in something so masculine, but it looks great. I agree with all the points. I got to start reading again! I've been too tired in the evenings with my eyes burning from staring on the screen all day, so no books in a long while (((

HOW TO STYLE AN OVERSIZED BEIGE SCARF: 2 OUTFIT PROPOSALS

Whether you're longing for spring to come asap or not, one thing is certain-  winter is not going  anywhere. The cold weather is not going to end up anytime soon, not in this part of the world. It's snowing in most of Europe and the weather is quite cold. What are we do to if not dress appropriately, and that means dress as warmly as possible? Not long ago I published a post about winter accessories that keep us warm. Today I'll be talking about one of them in particular and that would be the oversized scarf.  I've always loved big scarves and I have quite a few of them, some vintage, some I made myself. Lately, however it occurred to me that I should get one of those new trendy oversized ones, the kind that you can use as blanket. You know how much I love colour, right? Well, beige is no exception so I was happy to see it listed as one of the biggest trends this season. I picked up this beige oversized scarf for next to nothing in New Yorker. It's super cozy and …

HOW TO MAKE 3D FASHION ILLUSTRATION DRESSES WITH DRY FLOWERS?

Everyone knows that flowers make for a great prop, something very useful in these visual days. Moreover, in this time of social media, we are all looking for good photography props, aren't we? Bloggers, influences and what not, everyone wants to make their photographs pop. Flowers are a great way to do just that. Dried flowers are even better, because you don't have to worry about their expiry date. Dried flowers are also a great way to recycle (when you make your own) and preserve memories. I've been drying flowers for quite some time and there is really nothing to it. You can also buy dried flowers (or even fresh ones if you prefer). They are simply a perfect addition to flat lay photography.
Today I'll speak about creating 3D dresses on fashion illustrations. Now, you don't have to know how to do fashion illustration to try your hand at this. You can trace some of the fashion templates available online (be sure to make sure the author is o.k with that) or you c…

BEST BOOKS AND FAV WRITERS OF 2018

Writing this post took forever, and not just because I'm not exactly sure how many books I read in 2018. I did try to keep a track on goodreads but sometimes I forget to add books that I'm reading there. I'd say that I probably read around 80 books last year, give or take a dozen. I do love to read, as readers of my blog might already know or suspect. Here comes a list of my last year favourites. The list is written in no particular order. The links are not affiliated ( I tried to join Amazon affiliate program in the past but they rejected me saying that my blog doesn't have enough views so yeah it's all regular links). In cases of classics the books are linked to sites such as Project Gutenberg or Oxford University where you can find free copies. In case of modern works, I linked them up to my own blog posts (when relevant), Wikipedia or the authors' sites.

I had a pretty good reading year, I'd say. Some of the books I read I actually discovered in my ow…
