LEATHER AND STRIPED OUTFITS IN MOSTAR CITY

Yesterday I came back from Split city (Croatia) just in time for the devastating (6 magnitude) earthquake that stroke Bosnia and Herzegovina around 11 pm. We've experienced two more strong earthquakes during the night and early morning. I suppose we can expect more smaller earthquakes during the following days. No shortage of tragic and dramatic news this spring, right? Well, what can we do? As the ending of The Great Gatsby so eloquently put it: "We beat on, boats against the current...." Let us just hope we are not "borne ceaselessly into the past" while we do it, but rather able to forge some destiny for ourselves in the future. 

In this post, I'll share with you two leather and striped outfits. April has almost come to an end and we're still relying on leather items to keep us warm. On the upper side, we can wear our leather outwear as much as we want and even have fun with layering our outfits. I've been quite keen on the leather trend. I plan to wear it for the rest of the Spring season as well. I'll probably give it up once the Summer starts, though. What are some of your favourite Spring and Summer trends? Today there are so many trends one sometimes cannot avoid them even if one tries. I have a very slow shopping metabolism, mostly shopping my closet with a strong preference for vintage pieces, but I'm sure I'll end up wearing some trendy pieces, even I don't do it on purpose.  

Jučer sam se vratila iz Splita baš na vrijeme za razorni potres od šest stupnjeva koji je pogodio Bosnu i Hercegovinu oko 23 sata. Tijekom noći i ranog jutra doživjeli smo još dva snažna potresa. Pretpostavljam da možemo očekivati ​​još manjih potresa tijekom sljedećih dana. Ovog proljeća ne nedostaje tragičnih i dramatičnih vijesti, zar ne? No, što možemo učiniti? Kao što je kraj romana Veliki Gatsby tako elokventno kaže: "Idemo dalje, čamci protiv struje..." Nadajmo se samo da nismo " neprastalno nošeni u prošlost" dok to radimo, već smo sposobni iskovati neku sudbinu za sebe u budućnosti.

U ovoj objavi ću sa vama podijeliti dvije prugaste i kožne kombincije. Travanj je skoro došao kraju, a mi se još uvijek oslanjamo na odjevne predmete od kože koji će nas grijati. S pozitivne strane možemo nositi svoju odjeću od kože koliko god želimo, pa čak se i zabaviti  slojevitošću naših kombinacija. Dosta mi se sviđa ovaj trend kože. Planiram ga nositi i do kraja proljetne sezone. Ipak, vjerojatno ću odustati od toga kad ljeto počne. Koji su vam neki od omiljenih proljetnih i ljetnih trendova? Danas postoji toliko mnogo trendova da ih ponekad ne možete izbjeći čak i ako pokušate. Imam vrlo spor kupovni metabolizam, uglavnom "kupujem" u vlastitom ormaru s jakim preferencijama za vintage komade, ali sigurna sam da ću na kraju nositi neke trendi komade, čak i ne napravim to namjerno.



When it comes to Spring and Summer trends, I don't have anything against the micro mania but I'll probably wear my mini skirts and dresses with tights and leggings for more coverage (because that feels more comfortable). I will probably continue wearing mostly knee and bellow the knee length.  Naturally I'm on board with the whole leather and motorcycle trend. Can we even call it a trend? A leather  biker jacket is a classic. The same goes for stripes. Vogue lists it as some one of the Spring & Summer 2022 trends, but aren't stripes a classic pattern? One of the most classics ones! The same goes for denim- it's a classic. Maybe this season it will peak in popularity, but denim is here to stay. Now, when it comes to the whole Millennial trend, I might adapt some aspects from it but it is not my favourite fashion decade for sure. 

Što se tiče proljetnih i ljetnih trendova, nemam ništa protiv mikromanije, ali ću svoje mini suknje i haljine vjerojatno nositi uz tajice i najlonke (pa više i pokriti kože) jer mi je tako ugodnije. Vjerojatno ću nastaviti nositi dužinu do koljena i ispod koljena. Naravno da se slažem s cijelim trendom kože i moto šika. Možemo li to uopće nazvati trendom? Kožna  (bajkerska/motorka) jakna je klasika. Isto vrijedi i za pruge. Vogue to navodi kao jedan od trendova za proljeće i ljeto 2022., ali nisu li pruge klasični uzorak? Jedan od najklasičnijih! Isto vrijedi i za traper - to je klasika. Možda će ove sezone dostići vrhunac popularnosti, ali traper ostaje tu. Sada, kada je u pitanju cijeli Millennial trend, možda ću prilagoditi neke aspekte iz njega, ali to svakako nije moje omiljeno modno desetljeće.

Anyhow, let's get back to the subject of this post: two striped Spring outfits. Browsing my archives I realized that I have illustrated this leather jacket at least twice before. Moreover, counting the post today I have illustrated this pair of high brown boots four times! Is it me or am I starting to wear the items I have illustrated more often? Do you think that's possible? Perhaps illustrating them creates a sort of  visual fashion memento in my head.

THE SHIRT DRESS (second hand, terranova)- worn for the first time on the blog. A friend of mine gave it to me. I love shirt dresses, they are so practical.
THE BLACK LEATHER BAG WITH A STUDDED STRAP- HERE - This bag was actually an anniversary present. It came with a smaller bag  that can be fitted into this bag.  Both can be worn with this studded bag strap.

    Hi,
    I haven't seen the news lately, I didn't know about the earthquake! That scary!! What else will come around?? But about your looks, I think you're right, the fact that you illustrate your clothes makes you appreciate them more! I like these leather trends in clothing. Spring has also been cold and rainy here, but despite that, I've been without tights! You look very elegant in black!

    Oh dear, that earthquake sounds quite scary indeed. As if we haven't had enough drama lately! Hopefully you haven't suffered any damages!
    I'm wearing my - one and only - leather jacket well into Summer, as the weather can be very changeable here.
    Loving that dramatic black leather and black and white striped outfit very much. It looks elegant yet edgy at the same time! xxx

    Such scary news. Glad you are OK. Hope all is better. Lovely black jacket for spring and summer. Yes, Leggins are something I keep with me through the year. You just want to be prepared in case of injury..perhaps. And I always here, wearing shorts is the worst thing you can do when you grocery shop because you never know what might taint your skin. And I always love having good boots, too. Incredible illustration of the leather coat❤️

    I recently bought a leather dress - I will show it soon on the blog. I like her a lot, but soon it will be too hot for such dresses. Hopefully the leather trend will last until fall.

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. If you spent each day on a different Croatian island, it would take you three years to visit them all, as there are more than a 1, 200 islands in Croatia. The Magic of Nature Park Hutovo Blato: Must See Places in Herzegovina

I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything. Sometimes we fall in love with places just the way we fall in love with people. All I can say is that Hutovo Blato is one of those special places. I've fallen in love with it during my first visit. Maybe it's the sea child in me that's feeling (and missing) the Adriatic? After all, the Adriatic is not far from here. Lake Mostar (revisited) / Mostarsko jezero (ponovni posjet).

It is an interesting feeling to get to wear one's own painting. As I repeated many times, I quite enjoy painting with textile paints. You can see some of my previous posts on this subject here , here ,  here and  here  (just in case you're looking for some inspiration). The location where the photographs were taken is Lake Mostar.  I visited it earlier this Summer ( here  and here ) and I found it to be an absolutely beautiful and very calming place. In my effort to  make the most of the last days of Summer, I decided to revisted it....and it was a good call. I had felt blissfully happy while I was there.  Zanimljiv je osjećaj nositi svoje slike.
