FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: WIW AS A WEDDING GUEST

Hello! Welcome to a new Friday fashion illustration post. Technically speaking, the two fashion illustrations I'm sharing aren't new, but this outfit is. New in the sense that I haven't posted it before, not in the sense that the clothing items as new!  As you know, I'm the queen of shopping my closet. In this post, I'll share an outfit I wore for a wedding I attended recently. Ever since I got married and moved to Herzegovina, I had to become an expert wedding guest. In Herzegovina, you get invited to everyone's wedding, especially if you're Catholic. It's not unheard of for a wedding to have up to a thousand guests!

Once again I shopped my closet for my trusted items. I pulled out an elegant black midi dress with ruffles that I got in a collab ages ago and that I still wear. Upon glancing these photographs, I realized that I illustrated this dress before. So, I decided to post it in my Friday Fashion Illustration series.

The outfit was quite simple because I was feeling exhausted and I just wanted to be comfortable. However, the styling ended up looking quite chic, so I guess it was a win. Sometimes simplicity pays off. When it comes to fashion, I like to experiment and have fun, but I also love the simplicity of an elegant black styling.

So, I paired the above mentioned simple dress with black kitten heel shoes and an olive blazer (that I've had for ages). I finished the look with a golden scarf I bought on Malta. This lovely silk scarf has a Maltese crosses print and it just a perfect cover up. I have to say I was really happy with how pulled together this effortless outfit looked.

ONCE AGAIN I WAS A WEDDING GUEST IN LJETNIKOVAC RADOBOLJA AND IT'S A LOVELY PLACE

There are many wedding saloons in Mostar and vicinity. I've been to all of them! I first visited Ljetnikovac Radobolja in Summer 2019 and I blogged about it here. That 2019 visit was actually the first wedding I attended in wedding saloon Ljetnikovac Radobolja (not sponsored, I linked it up in case someone was interested in checking it out as it is not only a wedding saloon but also a restaurant).

This time we had an alright time, and I enjoyed the walk, but to be honest I was too exhausted to truly enjoy anything. We had fun taking these shots, that's something I have to say.  We don't get to attend weddings together as often as you might think, just because we get so many invitations. Well, it's mostly my husband that receives tons of wedding invitations. As I explained, this means that we don't always get to weddings together. Sometimes we have to split and go to different weddings just so that we don't disappoint anyone.

It's nicer to attend a wedding together then apart, and the photographing is certainly more fun. We took a lot of photographs because this place (Ljetnikovac Radobolja) is truly gorgeous. Who ever designed this garden deserved an award! The wedding saloon is beautiful. It was an alright night, but I'm tired of attending weddings. Sometimes I feel like I just don't have any energy left to be social. Do you know what I mean? Does your social battery ever runs out?

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT- HOW I WORE IT BEFORE?

THE GOLDEN SCARF- bought in a small Italian store in Malta, presumably made in Italy.

I don't wear this scarf often. I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm subconsciously afraid I'll damage it because it's silk.

THE BLACK MIDI RUFFLED DRESS- from an old collab.

BLACK OUTFITS:  2 LOCATIONS, 3 WINTER OUTFITS 2022

I wasn't sure whether this post belongs to  TRAVEL WITH MY ART or  FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION series. As you might know, Travel With My Art is a regular feature on my blog focused on my location and destination art. This feature enables me to share my paintings of places that inspire me. Friday Fashion Illustration is also a regular feature on my blog but it is (as the name implies)  more focused on my fashion related art and illustration. This watercolour painting can perhaps be categorized as both destination and fashion illustration. It depicts a certain location- Basina bay on island Hvar, so you could call it a landscape or a location painting. However, I'm also present in this illustration it and I'm wearing an outfit- hence it could be labelled a fashion illustration.

TOMORROW IS WORLD INVENTOR DAY SO LET ME QUOTE A SONNET FROM ADA LOVELACE, LORD BYRON'S DAUGHTER

Sonnet
The Rainbow

Bow down in hope, in thanks, all ye who mourn;—
Where'in that peerless arche of radiant hues
Surpassing earthly tints,—the storm subdues!
Of nature's strife and tears 'tis heaven-born,
To soothe the sad, the sinning, and forlorn;
A lovely loving token to infuse
The hope, the faith, that pow'r divine endures
With latent good the woes by which we're torn.—
'Tis like a sweet repentance of the skies,
To beckon all by sense of sin opprest,—
Revealing harmony from tears and sighs!
A pledge:—that deep implanted in the breast
A hidden light may burn that never dies,
But bursts thro' clouds in purest hues exprest!

  1. Radobolja summer house is wonderful! I don't know if I've ever seen a more beautiful, romantic and luxurious place for a wedding! And I have to admit that you look fantastic!!! It's like you're an actress in a Spanish film and a flamenco dancer :) Superb styling and pictures 👏👍

  3. I completely get the feeling of your social battery running out—attending weddings all the time can be draining, no matter how beautiful the venue or how special the occasion. It’s a nice touch that you were able to capture so many lovely memories through photographs, though! The garden at Ljetnikovac Radobolja is stunning.

  4. Oh, such a wonderful outfit. And to be at so many weddings. I love your art from your sketches too! Such great outings. Nice to hear people are getting married. A rare occasion here in the Heartland. Now days, they just go off on a destination wedding. Some, just get married alone in the forest or maybe a Halloween party. Great to see your ingenuity and beauty. All the best to a wonderful November!

    1. Yes, destination weddings are quite popular.
There are pros and cons to anything.
If I were to get married again, I honestly don't know what I would choose.
There's a certain beauty to a traditional wedding.
However, I'm also quite a private person.

I absolutely love your hair parted in the centre and slicked back like that, you look so glamorous. The gold shawl is fantastic.
My grandma always told us that if you had to go out and buy an outfit especially for an occasion then you'd failed, a great wardrobe has clothes for every eventuality! xxx

    1. I absolutely agree with your grandmother. I can understand that someone who is very young (a teenager, or in their early twenties) must go out and buy clothes for special occasions, but those of us who have had a change to build our wardrobe, should be able to just pull something out!

  13. Goodness, to be invited to so many weddings. I rarely get wedding invitations so they seem very special when I do although I do find it tiring making conversation if there aren't many people I know.
Your golden Maltese wrap is so beautiful and looks the perfect luxurious item for a wedding- I am always a bit cautious with silk too!
The black dress is really beautiful is a great backdrop for the gold.
That's very good of you and your husband to go seperately so not to disappoint anyone.
    Your fashion illustrations are excellent!

  14. Beautiful outfit, Ivana! Wear that gold scarf - silk is strong and part of owning things is using them. I haven't been to a wedding in years - my friends are all married!

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
