SIX WINTER OUTFIT PROPOSALS (SUSTAINABLE FASHION FILES)

Today I'll share with you six February outfits. Styling our clothes in Winter can often be fun  because there are so many layering options. Moreover, we shall talk about the benefit of rewearing clothing items and why it is good for the environment. I always enjoyed reading about different ways of wearing one clothing item because it always seemed like a great way to maximize and shop one's closet. I have published many posts that could be placed in sustainable fashion category during my eight years as a blogger. I think by now, most people know that the textile (fashion) industry is one of the biggest industrial polluters. By shopping our closets and being less wasteful with clothes, we're are also helping the environment. Plus, it can be a lot of fun. I'm definitely not the only blogger that is talking about rewearing and restyling clothes, nor was I the first one to do it.

If you are looking for more sustainable fashion ideas, you might them on the following blogs, for example:
- Sheila is doing fashion flashbacks, showing multiple ways to wear an item,
- Vix is doing Sleep- Wear- Repeat style challenge (the latest post here),
There are many other bloggers who link up their old outfits showing different ways to wear one clothing items or promote sustainable fashion by wearing vintage or second hand. From top of my head, there is also Kezzie, Melanie from Bag and a Beret and Ann from Polyester Princess blog.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL NO. #1 LEATHER JACKET WORN WITH A GREY DRESS AND BOOTS
I wore this outfit earlier this month, when the temperatures were higher and I was able to give up my winter coats for this fabulous vintage leather jacket (an item quite older than me). I paired it with a grey dress I wear often, a second hand red scarf and caramel boots (I wore more than forty times!). A sustainable outfit for sure. The only item that is relatively new is the bag that I purchased around the end of December last year. I purchased several bags in a shop owned by a friend on that occasion, apart from that I haven't done any shopping in months. I'm genuinely enjoying shopping my closet.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL #2- SKI JACKET WORN WITH A GREY DRESS AND BOOTS
I'm rewearing not one but two items from the previous outfit: the grey dress and the heeled caramel boots. If you see that an outfit formula is working, why not repeat it? The only thing I changed about this outfit is that I switched by leather jacket for my checkered  Alpine pro jacket ( I showed you 28 ways to wear this jacket here). Even the location is the same, beautiful Mostar city.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL #3: MAGENTA COAT WORN WITH A LEOPARD PRINT DRESS AND HIGH BROWN BOOTS
Bellow is an outfit I wore to visit Buna and Blagaj. I styled my old reliable leopard print dress with a long black cardi and wore a magenta coat on the top. I completed the outfit with comfortable walking boots, a cute bag and a sleek hairstyle. On that day, we also took some photographs with Mostar in the background. I love exploring Herzegovina, it's such a stunning region.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL #4: MAGENTA COAT WORN WITH A BLUE SKIRT AND BOOTS.
This beautiful cobalt skirt doesn't get worn nearly enough (last time I wore it was back in 2015). There is no label on it, but I have a reason to believe it's vintage because I inherited it from a family member. I've been wearing this skirt a lot this February to make up for the fact that it was forgotten for five long years. This time I paired it with a scarf I got from Ely and a cute beanie I got from my husband. My magenta coat is officially 'green' with more than 30 wears (post with all of them coming up soon!) Anyhow, this was a fun look and it kept me warm. Neretva river has gotten so big with all the rains!

OUTFIT NUMBER #5, A CAMEL COAT WORN WITH A SKATER DRESS AND BROWN BOOTS
Today I'm also showing you two ways to wear this short camel coat. A great way to jazz up a coat is to style it with a fun scarf, shawl or a pashmina. This is also a great way to add some colour into your wardrobe. If you don't have enough coloured or pattern coats, remember that you can add colour to any coat by throwing something over it. Another item you can accessorize is boots. Here I wore my old boots with faux fur warmers that came with another pair of boots. You can accessorize your boots in a number of ways or you can simply pair them with fun leg warmers, tights or socks. Winter gives us many options for fun layering and makes rewearing things easy. I wore this cute outfit for a visit for Čapljina city. I always have a great time when I visit Čapljina.

OUTFIT NUMBER #6 : A CAMEL COAT WORN WITH A SEMI PLEATED SKIRT, COMFORTABLE WALKING BOOTS AND A BURGUNDY JACKET
Bellow you can see an outfit I wore to a visit to Å iroki brijeg city. As you can see, I rewore the camel coat from my previous outfit but also the brown boots I wore several times this month. I also wore a Bellissima semi pleated skirt, a burgundy jacket and pale blue skirt ( two items I bought in Mana, while I was still living on island Hvar last year). This proved to be warm and a practical outfit.

We went to Å iriki Brijeg to visit my husband's friends, but we also stopped to take some photographs in front of one of the city's best know attraction, a beautiful historical catholic church dating back to 1905. This church dedicated to Assumption of Mary is located on a hill and offers a lovely panorama. Beside the church, you can also enjoy a visit to the friary and an accompanying museum. Moreover, an Academy of Fine Arts is located right next to the church.

As always, thank you for reading and visiting. How do you rewear or restyle items during Winter? Do you have any tips to share? Do you keep track of items you wore?

  2. These are lovely winter outfits and I like how colourful they are - especially with that beautiful magenta coat! You really do make the most of your wardrobe and you like to wear colour year round which is nice to see :)

Also thank you so much for the shout out! I think it's important to share ways to rewear clothes and shop on a budget to show others they don't have to spend a lot on clothes and they don't have to contribute to the environmental impact of fashion by only wearing things a few times. So important to remix and rewear!

Hope your week is going well :)

  3. Aw, thank you so much for the shout-out, Ivana! I love second-hand/thrift/op shops for finding quality clothes, and I love re-wearing my old and still completely fabulous clothes over and over! I'll be wearing one of my oldest wardrobe items tomorrow, a green suit!

I love how creative you are with all of these items. That black leather jacket is incredible. Those pink flowers make me feel hope for spring!

  6. I love this! Yes, I keep the same wardrobe and something I wear in summer ( sleeveless dress) I have worn in winter with a thrifted sweater worn over it. Lots of layers this year. We have had to have power outages to conserve energy during these below 0 temps we have been having these past few weeks. So it's time to bring out the thermal stuff to wear under the jumpers. I make a lot of hats from old sweaters I can't wear anymore and of course, I have lots of crochet hats and infinity scarves too. Thanks for the post!

  9. I'm like you and love the ideas of all kinds of layering like this Ivana.
Your ski jacket is a great one because of the print. And I adore how you put a scarf over your coat...it really adds so much interest to it that way.

  14. Dear Ivana,

You did it fantastic work here - you showed us 6 totally different outfits - my number one is the first set with leather jacket - i like it so much. I regret that now in Poland is too cold to wear my winter jacket ( I am totally not coldproof :-P ). I like to observe how you are having fun mixing this all clothes creating different outfits :-)

  16. Thanks for the shout-out, Ivana! I think that at least 90% of my wardrobe is vintage or second hand. I also love playing around with my wardrobe's contents, trying out new combinations with the stuff that's already in there. Shopping my closet, so to speak.
Isn't it wonderful that an outfit can look totally different by changing just one item? Case in point is your first and second outfit. That leather jacket is amazing, and so is your magenta coat, which I love seeing time and time again. Your magenta coat worn with your leopard dress is my favourite outfit of the six! xxx

Sustainable fashion is a bit hard for me since I love to shop a lot, but I do like styling my clothes over and over again in different ways.

  21. Hey dear Ivana, how's everything going? I see that you're still facing a grey winter, but hey for me it is also nice to have a cold evening and enjoy it with a cup of coffee and a nice book :)

Such a bunch of good ideas and good to see that you recommended Mica, I love her fashion proposals!

I liked that you're focusing on sustainability, such an important topic specially for our generation and the way we are approaching to fashion and clothes. There's something I like a lot about your proposals and is the ability to mix patterns, colors and textures!

My favorite is the look number 1 since I feel it is related to my style, a leather jacket with a touch of color! But I also liked the option where you are wearing a burgundy coat with touches of unexpected colors! Definitely the best way to face winter.

  24. Fantastic outfits and suggestions. I've always been drawn much more to cold weather attire. I'm naturally a fairly modest dresser and so feel a lot more at home in the cozy, body covering layers of fall and winter.

Many hugs & wishes for a beautiful last week of February coming your way.
