ADVENT IN STARI GRAD, CROATIA (2 OUTFIT PROPOSALS)

I have blogged about beautiful Stari Grad on island Hvar fairy recently (see here , here and here) as well as in more distant past (here and here). Today I'll show you how this ancient city is decorated for Advent. As you may know, Stari Grad is an ancient but not densely populated town. There are less than three thousand people living here, so it is a rather small town. During the autumn and winter season, one doesn't see that much tourists around. So, this is a great choice if you're looking to vacation in Europe somewhere where it is relatively warm and very quiet. There are many historical sights to see in this Croatian city (that was amazingly founded by ancient Greeks) so if you're a history lover, it's a great place to be. The advent decorations are very tasteful and lovely. It's a pleasure to stroll this town in Advent time. Besides, the city itself, I'm also going to show you two autumn outfit proposals, both featuring the same beige coat. Scroll down to see and read more.

1. A CAMEL COAT PAIRED WITH A PRINTED DRESS AND A FUN BEANIE

This camel coat and the beanie were both gifts from my significant other and despite not being a fan of them initially, I've grown fond of them. They are both fast fashion items (the coat is from H&M and I'm not sure about the beanie) but I'm not too worried about that because I know I'll wear them more than 30 times so they'll become sustainable eventually. Anyhow, here you can see how I paired these two items with a summer purple geometric print dress I have had for ages (see how I wore it here, herehere and here). Styling summer items in autumn and winter isn't as hard as it may seem, it's all about layering them right. I have finished this look with high brown boots that I have been wearing all the time lately. There isn't even a need to link them up to old looks because you can just scroll my recent posts to see them featured numerous times. How do you like this styling? How do you like Advent decorations in beautiful Stari grad town?

2. A CAMEL COAT WORN WITH A WHITE SHIRT, GREEN VEST AND NAVY FLARES
This winter styling is all about layering and accessories. Here I paired my favourite navy flares with a white shirt and a green vest. I have added an elegant scarf and a summer cap to add more colour. I really like how this outfit turned out, it was very comfortable and it looks nice. I think it proves we can add some fun into your cold weather outfits. Besides showing you this outfit, I'll also include photographs of more advent decorations in Stari Grad. I especially liked this big advent wealth placed in front of the historical villa of Renaissance nobleman Petar Hektorović.

That would be all for today. Thank you for reading. Let me know how you like this outfits and what you think of Stari Grad city. Would you like to vacation here? If yes, would you prefer to visit it during the warmer or during the colder months? Are you a summer or a winter type?

As always, thank you for reading. Have a lovely day!

I don't mind when I travel as long as it's not raining or windy. I just love escaping England and the horror that is Brexit! xxx

  4. I love how you give the items a try even though you weren't found of them at first. A camel coat is definitely truly a classic and it's always good to have classics.
It's so nice to explore with you this way. I am surprised you are the only one out and about. Do you photoshop all the other people out of your photos?

    1. No, I don't. There are less than 3000 people in this city so it looks almost deserted this time of year. That's the case with Croatia in general, you get to have a lot of personal space just because it is not very populated. In the summer when there are a lot of tourists, it's a bit different.

  5. What lovely photos, Ivana, a real pick-me-up after the utterly grey and rainy day we had today. Those Christmas decorations are really something else! My husband would never attempt to buy me clothes, as he knows my tastes are very particular, and if I don't like it I don't wear it. A camel coat is a classic, though. I'm loving it especially paired with the short printed dress, tall boots and beanie hat! In answer to your question, I am a definite Autumn type, but I love all seasons equally. They each have their own charm, and I wouldn't want to live somewhere where there are no clearly defined seasons. Aren't we lucky to be able to change wardrobes seasonally too? Wishing you happy holidays! xxx

  7. Your coat is such a classic and looks so good on you! I'm always impressed by how well you layer - I think the second outfit is my favourite :)

I like layering in winter with cosy scarves but summer is definitely my favourite - all the pretty dresses, no layering or coordinating needed! :)

Hope that you're having a great weekend :) We are so excited for Christmas here! :)

Baci e tanti auguri di Buon Natale! :)

  24. Stari Grad looks like a wonderful place to visit. The old world feel to is so charming yet full of history. It is interesting that the Greeks and Turks founded and lived in this part of the world at some point. I just watched a documentary on the Tartars and I had no idea that Crimea was found by Greeks and Turks.

    1. Stari Grad was founded by the Greeks but not by the Turks (who didn't exist as a nation back then). The Turks attacked Stari Grad and tried to destroy it, they never founded anything on this island. It seems impossible to me that Crimea was founded by the Greeks and the Turks. As far as I know it was founded by the Greeks. Turkey is nowhere near as ancient as Greece, so it is not possible that they founded cities in ancient times.

  31. Wow you really have seen quite a bit of your country. I have seen a fair number of places in the states though it is huge. I went to Boston as a kid and also was on a road trip from NY to Florida. I lived in Florida for about 6 months when I was 12 and I recently visited a friend in Tampa/St Petersburg. In addition to NY and Florida I also lived in Seattle and when living there I visited Portland OR, Vancouver BC, Phoenix AZ, and San Francisco. I would like to travel more, but abroad, not so much the states. I have been to London, Berlin, Munich and Paris.
