PURPLE AND RED IN SPLIT CITY, CROATIA

Summer is here. My 38th Summer. 
Sometimes I wonderful how the years just seem to fly by. 
At other times, I feel like I have lived  not one but at least a hundred lives. 
Sometimes I feel like I'm at least 3800 years old.  
Not in a bad way.
Not entirely anyway.

What do I feel this Summer? 
How do I feel?
Bittersweet.
It's a bittersweet Summer.
Everything has been bittersweet since Spring 2020.
Everything has felt uncertain and unpredictable. 
So uncertain that I feel no need to comment or elaborate on it.
Let's focus on the sweet, then.
Split city as beautiful as ever.
A living magic, always changing and evolving.
A pearl of the Mediterranean.
A spirit that still lives.
A place that will always feel like home.
A city that is my home.







 How are you doing? I'm trying to make the most out of my unpaid leave. I've taken a few days to just relax and unwind. My plans for the Summer are still undefined. Who knows where summer is going to take me?

I have visited this place and blogged about it last year as well. Naturally, I visited it in passing a few times in the past. Before the new road was build, you had to drive near Klis fortress to get to Split. I remember my parents would stop their car to enjoy the view a couple of times when I was a kid.  However, it is only in the recent years that I decided to explore this fortress more. I enjoyed the exploring very much as you can see.

When all is said and done, what I'm most grateful for are the people. I've been fortunate to know some wonderful people in my life. True friendship is perhaps the most sweet thing in the bitterness called life.

I don't feel blue. I don't see red either.
What I feel is a mixture of red and blue.
A mix of melancholy and energy, sadness and hope.
I feel purple.

    Thank you for those beautiful words! I'm totally with you, in many ways. Ageing, years, time... are strange things. I also think a lot of things have changed so dramatically in the last years. Do I feel depressive? Sad? Happy? Relaxed? Angry? Helpless? I don't know... It's a mixture... as you say. let's enjoy summer! You look beautiful in your reds, blues and purples!

    Hello Ivana, hope you're having a lovely summer so far!

    I love the way you put down in words these beautiful feelings, some of them are bitersweet but they are also part of life and the worlds has changed a lot in recent years and that clearly has an impact in us. I think the most important part is to try to enjoy the beautiful things in the process, such as the fashion (which is always wondeful) or those nice allium flowers.

    I like how colorful these looks are! Sending you a big hug and thanks for your constant support! Happy to spot a new blog post :)

    It's always good to go back to where we were happy. I recently saw photos of Split and it is indeed a wonderful city! Lilac is one of my favorite colors of the moment, you made a color combination a little unusual but that worked well. Stay happy and sweet!

Hello, there! In this post, I'll show you around Stobreč, a charming historical village that has become a tourist resort. Located between Split city and Podstrana , this little village is a wonderful destination for a stroll or a day at the beach. It's actually been inhabited since the ancient times. DAMEN KAPRIC, ANKICA TOPIĆ (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

 Hello! Today I will review Damen kapric, a novel by Ankica Topić, a Croatian author.  If I'm not mistaken this was my first read from this writer.  Ankica Topić is from Makarska , so from the same region in Croatia as yours truly ( Dalmatia ). I'm mentioning the region because it is relevant to understand the novel's humour.  As in most other European countries, in Croatia you will find cultural and linguistic  differences between regions, something that is often used for comic effects in books, TV shows and movies. In this particular novel, the author often contrasts Croats from the South with those from the capital (that is continental  Croatia).  Damen kapri c is a wonderfully funny novel that starts of as a family comedy with elements of romance, but soon turns darker and evolves into a mystery of some kind. BOOK REVIEWS: EDEN AND THE INVINCIBLE, TWO FABULOUS NOVELS BY STANISLAW LEM

 Hello! Not too long again I shared my review for science fiction classic Solaris . Well, I ended up liking that novel so much that I had to explore Lem's writing more. So far, I have read four Stanislaw Lem's novel in total.  Today I will review two novels by Stanislaw Lem: Eden and The Invincible. I decided to review them together because Eden and The Invincible are in some ways similar, so I thought it would be interesting to compare them.  Before I get into more details, I'll do a short comparative review of sorts. How are Eden and Solaris similar and how are they different?   Both of these novels explore a similar theme: a crew of a spaceship exploring an unknown planet and finding themselves in peril while they do so. Moreover, both of these novels feature characters debating their situation and trying to find an answer to the mystery of unknown. Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . Friday Fashion Illustration: Fantasy Vibes

 Hi, there! In this post, I'll share some of my fashion illustration sketches. It's nothing too ambitious, basically just a few drawings I made recently. It's been a while since my last Friday Fashion Illustration.  Fashion Illustration Friday used to be a regular feature on my blog, but the fact that all art posted online automatically gets stolen by AI put me of from posting my art, even sketches. I still do commissions and sell my art from time to time. I have some comission orders that are waiting for Summer when I'll have more free time. Art is still a part of my life, I just don't post about it that much. I mean I don't do art full time, but I try to make time for art in my life. 10 STYLE LESSONS LEARNED FROM MALENA/ MONICA BELLUCCI

With summer being in full spring, I caught myself thinking about iconic summer outfits. Do you know what came to my mind? Costumes/outfits worn by Monica Belluci when she played Malena Scordia in an iconic Italian movie set on Sicily.  The costumes for that movie were designed by an acclaimed Italian costume designer Maurizio Millenotti and he outdone himself! Seeing that Malena is a historical movie, Maurizio choose quite timeless outfits and cuts that will ever go out of style. That fact makes Malena movie the perfect place to look for inspiration! Moreover, I feel that Monica Belluci's personal style is quite similar to Malena's (i.e. to the style of the character she is playing). There is definitely a Mediterranean lady feel about Malena/Monica Bellucci. What says summer better than Mediterranean and Sicily?
