A RED DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE AT RESTAURANT ASIA ( SPLIT, CROATIA)

If you know me, you know that I'll grab every opportunity to don on a statement dress. Life is to short to wear boring dresses. Nothing is quite as dramatic as a statement red dress, am I right or what? I was planning on walking miles that night, so I paired my red dress with comfy shoes, a straw bag and a pink blazer (just in case if it gets windy). I'm a fan of wearing dramatic dresses with comfy shoes, it makes them stand out more- and it can make the outfit not only more comfortable but also fresh. I wore this red midi dress with ruffled sleeves for a date night in Chinese restaurant Asia in Split (HERE- one of my favourite places to grab Chinese food in the city). I had a lovely time dinning there with my significant other. I pretty much always order the same thing: home made noodles with veggies and dumplings. As always, the food was yummy. This restaurant is located in my old neighbourhood Split 3 (address: street Poljička cesta 39 ) and I definitely recommend paying it a visit when in Split. I'm a regular visitor both here and in the other Chinese restaurant in vicinity (Pearl of Orient, address: street Jurja Dobrile 1). In fact, Split 3 is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in Split city. I just love its modern architecture. Here is an excerpt from a documentary about Split 3 that I saw and loved!

Besides its rich culture and interesting history, Split has a lot to offer in terms of modern urban architecture. I did recommend visiting the old centre of the city in one of my recent posts, but that shouldn't keep you from discovering the more urban & new areas of the town. I always say that the best way to discover a city is on foot. So, take a walk and see what Split has to offer in terms of modern urban architecture. Personally, I'm a big fan of Split 3. I sometimes stroll this neighbourhoods just to admire the design of its buildings. It is also always fun to see what is new. I blogged about Split 3 quite a few times, feel free to check those posts as well:

A FEW MORE WORDS ABOUT THE OUTFIT:
A dress I liked so much I had to illustrate it surely deserves a few more words. If you remember a certain post from last year (I'll link up old posts bellows), this dress was last summer's unplanned purchase but it proved a good call for I simply love wearing it.  Besides its red colour, which is utterly gorgeous, I like both the cut and the design of this midi dress. My initial reaction for this dress was something along the lines of- a midi dress with bare shoulders, high neck, ruffles and fringes? Sign me in! Is is indeed wonderful when you find that one item that embodies all the things you love. I'm crazy about ruffles and fringes, I love statement sleeves and midi length.  My outfit proposal of the way is all about comfy city styling. with a feminine twist I wore this dress for a date that also included a walk, hence I paired it with flats that are comfortable enough. To complete the look,  I choose a statement straw bag. I would say that the straw bag matches coral red nicely. I wondered whether this bag was too much, since this dress is loud enough on its own, but I think they actually match nicely. A statement  red dress worn with a straw bag? Why not? It's summer, after all. When are we going to get playful with fashion if not during the summer?

OTHER WAYS TO STYLE THIS RED MIDI STATEMENT SLEEVED DRESS
As promised, I'm also linking up my older posts devoted to this red dress. I'm all about being sustainable and getting the maximum wear out of our clothes, even statement ones! Investing in classics is always good, but if your personal style is more on a fun side, then you should definitely pick up some fashion forward items as well. This dress might have been an impulse buy, but it payed off. The key to building the wardrobe you will love is knowing your style and what works for you.

That would be all for today. As always thank you for reading and visiting. Your feedback is always appreciated. Tell me what do you think about this styling? Do you like to wear statement dresses?  Is red your colour? How do you feel about ruffles? Happy Monday! Have a fantastic week ahead!

  3. Life is to short to wear boring dresses! Yes to that! This dress is definitely makes a strong style statement and even though it was an unplanned purchase you made a great choice since it will serve you well in terms of versatility and the classic styling is timeless. What a fabulous choice for a date night. Your husband is a lucky man! I just made a very similar looking noodle dish for dinner the other night. I'm a big fan of meals that can be prepped in one pan.

  10. That dress is beautiful on you. I love the styling too, and I think next time I'm wearing a statement dress I am going to downplay it with some casual shoes! I loved Split, was hoping to go back there again this year. We stayed in the Old Town and I was so besotted with the architecture, not just the old but spots of mid century architecture always caught my breath. Would love to explore more of Split, definitely away from the Old Town now too!

Your red dress is really hot and looks so good on you! And funny, that I also just posted a red dress in my blog! :-) So we are both ladies in red ;-)) Thanks also for the China Local tip - if I come to Spit one day, I'll look for it :-)

PS: Thanks for your nice words to my Thailand-Travel report! But please, if you want to visit a floating market, choose it well. The market I reported on - we did NOT like it! It was terribly overcrowded and only touristy! But we loved the railway market :-)

  27. That is a statement dress if ever there was one, Ivana, and it looks stunning on you! Those sleeves are simply magnificent. Split 3 sounds like an interesting part of town. No wonder you keep being drawn to it. I am all about sustainability as well, and I'm making a conscious effort to wear the items in my wardrobe again and again and remix them instead of buying new (to me) stuff, but I'm afraid that two vintage dresses insisted on coming home with me the other day ... Enjoy the rest of your week! xxx
