TRAVEL WITH MY ART #12: ZAVALA, ISLAND HVAR
Hello and welcome to the twelfth post in TRAVEL WITH MY ART series! I'm excited to share this new canvas painting with you. The medium for this painting is acrylic paints on canvas. I applied a varnish spray over it to protect the colours and add some shine. If the painting looks familiar, it's probably because I have already painted this beach in Zavala (and I might paint it again). This time I captured this beautiful Croatian beach from a bird-eye perspective, though. It might be the same beach, but it's a different painting. This one is all about the Adriatic sea embracing the stones and the beach. My post will also include my reference photographs (I've used to make this painting) as well as some other photographs we took there.
THE MAKING OF A PAINTING - THE SONG OF THE SEA
There are so many layers in this painting. It took me forever to make it. Well, not forever but about 70 hours. I also made a mini canvas version of it that took me significantly less time. I put it so much effort into this painting and I think it payed off. What do you guys think? The sea looks real enough, doesn't it? It's fascinating to paint the sea. There are so many different colours and tines you need to know how to use and mix. Moreover, you must be so careful with reflections and shades to get it right. It's quite hard to make the sea come alive. Often it can be exhausting, but there are moments when painting the sea can feel like meditation. Still, it's not the easiest of tasks. That is why sometimes I do quicker seascapes. These kind of detailed seascapes take a lot from me. To be completely honest, this kind of canvases usually result in a lot of back pain. I try to do exercises for artists and all that, but I have scoliosis meaning that I suffer from chronic back pain. Hence painting is often quite painful for me.
TRAVEL WITH MY ART- ZAVALA, ISLAND HVAR, CROATIA
Once again I'm taking you to Zavala. I hope you don't mind the repeated visits. I personally think this place is worth it. I visited Zavala a couple of times while living on island Hvar (Croatia). I must have been mighty impressed by it because I just can't stop painting it. The painting I'm sharing with you today was inspired by a spring visit but I will also share some summer visit photographs I haven't shared before. This painting is no longer with me and to be honest I kind of miss it. I wish I could have hanged on it for a little while. However, I'm also glad it found a new home. You see, I gifted this painting. If you want, you may see in in restaurant Torkul in Sveti Filip and Jakov (near Zadar). If you ever stop at that restaurant, you can see it on the wall.

As you know if you follow my blog, fashion is not the only thing I like to talk about. I always try to present interesting places to you, especially those I enjoy myself. Who knows, perhaps you'll even have the chance to learn something new. I will divide this post into two parts, one from Split city, the other from Trogir city. Zdravo! Hello darlings! Right now I feel so high on that fashion week adrenaline, that's all I seem to think about. Does that ever happen to you? The fashion shows I have seen so far have all been fabulous. There are so many dresses and designs that I want to illustrate and I think I have picked the perfect look to start with. Today I'm back with another fashion illustration. I already illustrated one of Valentino's dresses ( here you can see my illustration from Valentino Couture 2019 collection) , but today I decided to illustrate another runaway looks of theirs and this time from Ready to Wear 2019 collection. This deep V neck dress caught my eye instantly, and I just knew I had to illustrate it. Moreover, the model that wore is incredibly beautiful. Scroll down to find out more about this fashion art of mine. I don't know if you have noticed, but fashion illustrators have gone head over heals with Pierpaolo Piccioli and his Spring collection. His couture 20
Hello, darlings! I'm back two fashion illustration of one Zuhair Murad dress. This blue gown is so beautiful I simply had to illustrate it twice. It makes me think of the sea, the mermaids and basically the good old 'day at the beach' vibes. There is something so liberating about spending time by the ocean, isn't there? I grew up in a coastal town, and I do miss the sea terribly. However, that is surely not the only reason why I loved this dress so much. You know, when I think Zuhair Murad the first thing that comes to my mind is- haute couture. I feel he is one of those designers who were simply meant to make couture. Do you know what I mean? Murad's designs are always so exquisite, glam and elegant. I do like his ready-to-wear collections, but there is just something about his haute couture collections that makes them stand out in the sea of others. I already illustrated a dress by this designer ( here ), and with the fashion week on its way, I opted for s
We are back in Mostar city, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I hope you don't mind me switching from one country to another. Regular readers of my blog know that I'm from Croatia but my husband is from Bosnia and Herzegovina. We sort of live in both countries. There's no telling where we might spend the next week. I'm all about local travel and exploring the area I live in, I just happen to live in two countries. Anyhow, I'm taking you to a secret lake that not many know of or visit! I didn't know about it until my husband showed it to me. Now, I love coming here. WHAT TO WEAR FOR HIKING IN THE SUMMER? Here you can see me wearing a sensible hiking outfit suitable for summer weather. Once again, I shopped my closet. Last time I wore this white ruffled tunics was in this post when I layered it under the dress. This time I tucked it into a maxi gypsy skirt (last worn here in April). I finished the look with no name sneak
