FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION SPRING VIBES: A PEAK INTO MY SKETCHBOOK

Hello dear readers! I'm back with another Friday Fashion Illustration post. Today I'll share some fashion sketches with you. I will let you take a peak into my sketchbook. The Spring is finally here! So, why not go for Spring inspired sketches! As I said in my last post: When it happens that I don't have the time for art, I make sketches. Sometimes  a quick sketch can lead you places. Sometimes it is a dead end. You never know until you try, don't you? Anyhow, quick sketches might be all that I'll be doing in foreseeable future. 

Why not make the most of it?

The medium for these illustrations is watercolour pencils  (Staedtler brand, #notsponsored). I haven't added water to all of them. Consequently, some of these sketches are drawings, some watercolour sketches and some a mix of sorts. What do they have in common. Well, they are transitional looks. Spring is here, but some days are bond to be on the cold side, so a beanie and a scarf are still accessories we might need. Scroll down to see MORE.  Friday is time for Fashion illustrations!



I've noticed that I'm often reaching for the green colour. Take for example the green dress paired with a statement necklace I illustrated above. Green is the colour of nature and Spring!


Green, in physics, light in the wavelength range of 495–570 nanometres, which is in the middle of the visible spectrum. In art, green is a colour on the conventional colour wheel, located between yellow and blue and opposite red, its complement. https://www.britannica.com/search?query=green+colour 24.3. 2023.

Most prominently found in nature, the color green embodies rich foliage, lush greenery, and vast landscapes. This earthy hue is commonly associated with Mother Earth, which is why it’s thought to be calming and ubiquitous. Offering relaxation, green soothes with its gentle and peaceful undertones. FASHION ILLUSTRATION IS FUN BECAUSE IT CONNECTS ART AND FASHION

IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT....THERE are many similarities between art and fashion. In both art and fashion, one can find both sophistication and vulgarity, passion and calmness, elegance and roughness, tradition and rebellion. Within these contrasts, we look for ourselves. I don't think there are any wrong or right answers, I think there are only answers that are right at a certain point of your lives. We look for ways to express ourselves. Yin and Yang. Darkness and Light. 

Sometimes it is through contrasts that we learn. Sometimes things are black and white, sometimes they are gray. We live, we adjust and we search for meaning. Clothes are often seen as something non important or superficial. Sometimes people are  ashamed to admit that clothes interest them. Makes one think, doesn't it? Art is seen as something more complex, but still most people assume that creative or artistic hobbies are just something people do to relax. Nobody talks about the time and effort a creative hobby can take. In other words, unless your work hangs in some gallery, you're just messing around, aren't you? 

ON THAT NOTE, HERE IS A LITTLE TIP......

Now, something a bit more personal and serious for all you artists or creative people out there. If your art makes you feel drained and tired, it doesn't mean you're not a good artist or that there is something wrong with you. Art is draining. Art is time-consuming. Art is difficult. It just is. There is nothing wrong with you. It is normal to feel tired after creating art. It is normal to feel frustrated. It is normal to feel stressed and question yourself. If you're feeling down, PLEASE take time to rest and relax in the manner that best suits your personality and lifestyle.

    You are so inspiring❤️💕❤️💕I love the details you put into your fashions and characters. Yes, maybe I will get some Barbie clothes made today..but I love to procrastinate about it. Although, I feel I will learn more about fashion that way..so I have some interesting methods with socks. I am not ready to buy fabrics for doll clothes. All the best to your wonderful creativity!

PLUS 30 WAYS TO WEAR A BABY BLUE DRESS AND LEOPARD HEELS (OUTFIT POST, MOSTAR)

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. So, it's not surprising that I love to mix patterns.  Back to my baby blue & leopard outfit. I wore it for an outing and I really enjoyed it. The best about is that it is sustainable. OIL PASTELS VS. WATERCOLOUR PENCILS (SPLIT, FIRULE BEACH)

If you remember in my last posts I shared a seascape sketch with you. Today I will show you the completed version. I did complete this watercolour pencil sketch the same day I started it. There was also a version I made with oil pastels. In case anyone is wondering, I don't have these two with me anymore. I shipped some of my art to one (amateur) art gallery yesterday. The watercolour landscape I'm sharing with you today was among the paintings sent while the pastel version of this scene was sent to a friend.  Both of them were sketched on a lovely sunny day on Firule beach in Split (it has gotten colder in the meantime). Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . What To See and Do in Hutovo Blato Nature Park in Summer? Exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina's Hidden Gems #1

What you know, Europe still has its fair share of secret spots! Seeing these photographs, you'd think I was somewhere in a tropical jungle of some sorts, but you'd be wrong as these images were taken in Hutovo blato , a nature park and bird reservoir located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is quite close to border with Croatia, so if you're visiting our Adriatic coast, do consider stopping by here as well.  Hutovo Blato is mostly composed of marshlands (wetlands) and it is a stunning natural area to visit. The photographs I'm sharing today were taken a year ago, the last time I visited this bird & nature park during summer. My visits to this nature park have been numerous indeed. The reasons for that is very simple: I really like it there. So, today I wanted to share with you all the things I love about this park and inform you about all the fun things you can do there during the summer. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. The Magic of Nature Park Hutovo Blato: Must See Places in Herzegovina

I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything. Sometimes we fall in love with places just the way we fall in love with people. All I can say is that Hutovo Blato is one of those special places. I've fallen in love with it during my first visit. Maybe it's the sea child in me that's feeling (and missing) the Adriatic? After all, the Adriatic is not far from here. Is it possible that it the last day of Summer today? It doesn't feel like it is, not just because I have a feeling that the high temperatures and the blazing sun have gotten mixed up with every single molecule I'm composed of, but because nothing will change dramatically tomorrow. That I won't be walking into a classroom tomorrow feels quite odd. I still remember that 'back to school' excitement. Great part of that feeling was also about being able to remiscent about Summer and to some level even brag about it to our fellow students.  When you're young, every Summer seems unforgettable and unique.
