FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: RED PUFFER AND SUNGLASSES

Hello! It's time for another Friday Fashion illustration. See the last post in my fashion illustrating series here. This time I'm sharing an illustration of an outfit I actually wore. This fashion illustration wasn't without dilemmas. I sketched it with watercolour pencils and added water like I usually do, but it looked too plain so I added some finishing touches with acrylic paints. In the end, it turned out alright. I would probably change some things if I were to do it again.  I didn't really settle for one photograph as a reference but did a looser impression of the outfit. If I were to paint this outfit again, I would  probably choose one photograph and stick with it. Anyhow, I revamped the illustration for my redbubble art shop by editing it with some of my rose art and titled it A Girl Lost in Roses. Not really related to my hiking trip but I've been doing a lot of floral designs for my redbubble shop so I wanted to keep up the rose theme. THE MAKING OF THE ILLUSTRATION- WORKING WITH WATERCOLOUR PENCILS 
I've prepared a work in progress collage with you as well as a photo taken before and after I added the finishing touches with acrylic paints. 




THE STORY OF MY HIKING OUTFIT
This is what I wore for hiking in Goranci village. Once again I shopped my closet. I had all of these clothing  items for a while and will link them up to prove it. Sustainable fashion reasons and all that. 
THE RED PUFFER- from Umbro, see how I styled it here and here.  I bought it back in 2012 or 2013, so it is holding up pretty well. I don't reach for it often because we don't have a need for such warm & thick puffers often. However, it was perfect for a visit to Goranci (a village with a higher altitude than Mostar and therefore colder). Still, I reckon this is the last time I will be wearing this red puffer in 2021 (unless I go skiing somewhere or something like that). 
THE SKATER DRESS- from outlet store Azel. I bought it a long time ago. I'm sure it appeared on the blog before but I haven't been able to find it so I will link up later, when I find it.
THE TURTLENECK- from New Yorker (if I remember well). I layered it under this dress for warmth, something I did here  and here as well. 
THE LEOPARD LEGGINGS- from Croatian brand Moda in (not sure does it exist anymore). See how I styled them here.

    Hey Ivana, I hope you're doing fantastic!

    I saw some of these mini portraits previously on your IG and they look fantastic, another great surface to portrait your creativity and actually it helps you to get creative in order to adapt your work to new formats! The result is so detailed and I love that you used your own photo as reference.

    Sadly we are saying goodbye to puffers, sweaters and coats.... at least I'll try to wear them a few more days if possible. Your outfit is on point and excellent for an adventurous trip!

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. So, it's not surprising that I love to mix patterns.  Back to my baby blue & leopard outfit. I wore it for an outing and I really enjoyed it. The best about is that it is sustainable. OIL PASTELS VS. WATERCOLOUR PENCILS (SPLIT, FIRULE BEACH)

If you remember in my last posts I shared a seascape sketch with you. Today I will show you the completed version. I did complete this watercolour pencil sketch the same day I started it. There was also a version I made with oil pastels. In case anyone is wondering, I don't have these two with me anymore. I shipped some of my art to one (amateur) art gallery yesterday. The watercolour landscape I'm sharing with you today was among the paintings sent while the pastel version of this scene was sent to a friend.  Both of them were sketched on a lovely sunny day on Firule beach in Split (it has gotten colder in the meantime). Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . What To See and Do in Hutovo Blato Nature Park in Summer? Exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina's Hidden Gems #1

What you know, Europe still has its fair share of secret spots! Seeing these photographs, you'd think I was somewhere in a tropical jungle of some sorts, but you'd be wrong as these images were taken in Hutovo blato , a nature park and bird reservoir located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is quite close to border with Croatia, so if you're visiting our Adriatic coast, do consider stopping by here as well.  Hutovo Blato is mostly composed of marshlands (wetlands) and it is a stunning natural area to visit. The photographs I'm sharing today were taken a year ago, the last time I visited this bird & nature park during summer. My visits to this nature park have been numerous indeed. The reasons for that is very simple: I really like it there. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. The Magic of Nature Park Hutovo Blato: Must See Places in Herzegovina

I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything. Sometimes we fall in love with places just the way we fall in love with people. All I can say is that Hutovo Blato is one of those special places. I've fallen in love with it during my first visit. Maybe it's the sea child in me that's feeling (and missing) the Adriatic? After all, the Adriatic is not far from here. This time with a scarf worn as belt. Like that was not colourful enough, there is also this wonderful folklore Croatian bag. I decided to wear my new Peko shoes because I wanted to check whether they can be worn without tights (as one does in Summer)....and I'm happy to announce they've passed the test!
