FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: MY INSPIRATIONS
Hello dear readers and/or fellow bloggers. I haven't been posting as often as I normally do for a while now (since the start of the pandemic really). In fact, I might be forced to change my post frequency and blog less often in the future. The reason for that is hardly original. Just life being life: some health issues, a lot of work and a definite lack of free time. However, today I'm back with some new and fresh content. If you like my fashion illustrations, you've come to the right place today. I have a few new fashion illustrations to show to you. As for the outfit I'm wearing, it's just something I threw on to look presentable for a quick photo shot with my fashion sketches. My outfit is a mix of old and the new (mostly old, though, only the skirt is new). I'm wearing a yellow blazer and a striped tee, a pair of pink heels and a floral skirt.
WHAT I HAVE BEEN UP TO LATELY IN TERMS OF FASHION ILLUSTRATION
Well, I haven't been up to much to be honest, but I do try to keep this hobby of mine up. I've managed to do some sketching with ballpoint pen. I coloured my ball point pen sketches with coloured pencils. I've also made one pencil drawing, a simple fashion illustration really. I've cut out some of my fashion illustrations to turn them into a sort of paper dolls. That was fun! It also makes saving my fashion illustrations easier since they take less space that way.
PHOTOGRAPHS I USED AS A REFERENCE AND INSPIRATION FOR MY ILLUSTRATIONS
I'm trying out some new illustrating styles at the moment. Perhaps I don't find illustrating the same poses challenging enough, so I try to switch things up by using real poses and photograph references for my illustrations. I've used some of my own outfit photographs as reference for some of these illustrations. Bellow you can see which ones and you can also see how I edited and coloured some of my art digitally. Digital art is another thing I've been experimenting this year.
A FUN FASHION PROJECT: FASHION ILLUSTRATION PAPER DOLLS
Once I was done with my fashion illustrations, I gave them to my niece to play with. I remember my mother once made me paper Barbie dolls when I was little. I also gave my niece some fashion illustrations to colour. Drawing and colouring are important for development of hand coordination. If you have or know kids who enjoy drawing, consider giving them fashion templates or sketches to colour or work with. You can turn it into a fun project for the whole family.
For those of you that might want to learn more about my fashion illustrations, I'll include some links from my previous Friday Fashion Illustration Posts:
WHAT INSPIRES ME LATELY (if my fashion illustrations are any indication):
Having a look at some of my recent fashion illustrations, I can notice that I'm really into bold coloured suits and blazers for spring and summer. I'm also drawing to bold colours, especially green and yellow. I'm also quite fond of blue clothing items at the moment.
CLOTHING ITEMS: BLAZERS, SUITS AND DRESSES
COLOURS: BOLD GREEN, YELLOW AND BLUE
OduÅ”evljena sam tvojim ilustracijama i dopada mi se Å”to se time baviÅ”. Prelijepo je odraÄeno i svaka Äast za ideje.❤️

hvala, uvijek sam puna ideja.
DeleteI love that yellow blazer on you and it's so good you are still finding time to be creative with your artwork! My blog is my creative outlet so I've been blogging through home iso but I dropped down the frequency of posting too - i need to make my blog work for me and not stress out over it! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely weekend :) I went shopping with my sister yesterday, it was a lot of fun and nice to get out to the stores again :)
Away From Blue
Thank you Mica.
DeleteYou look amazing wearing the blazer and that pink classy shoe. I understand you so much. I also did not stop at the beginning but I started posting after a while.

thank you Melody.
DeleteBeautiful illustrations Ivana. Your outfit is gorgeous. Floral pieces are perfect this time of year. I hope you have some free time soon. I also became busier when the pandemic started. I think it is going to start to slow down when the economy really starts to feel its effects.
ReplyDeleteThank you Val. I do love floral pieces.
DeleteFirst Of All, Welcome Back - Secondly, Unbelievably Creative Post - So Damn Cool - And Lastly, Dig The Shoes In Photo #2 - Stay Strong
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks Padre
DeleteI'm sorry to hear of your health problems and that you are still so busy and time poor. On the other hand, I am glad to hear that you're still finding a creative outlet in your fashion illustrations. They are stunning as always, and I particularly love the idea of cutting them out and turning them into a kind of paper dolls. I'm loving your outfit too, especially the floral skirt and the pink shoes! Wishing you all the best and a lovely Sunday! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's nothing serious fortunately. Yes, paper dolls are fun. My niece enjoys playing with them it seems.
DeleteHvala Alek.

DeleteDear Ivana, first of all: I hope you are well and reasonably healthy? I can understand you well, because at the moment I also don't have enough time to blog a lot.
ReplyDeleteI love your feminine outfit! The cute flower skirt goes so well with the yellow blazer and pink heels. You look adorable!
I also love your amazing illustrations. You should become a fashion designer or at least make a book with your illustrations ;-=

DeleteGood to see you again and such a wonderful post. Great illustrations and fashions :-D
ReplyDeleteTake care Ivana and we will still be here to see your posts <3
Thank you Ananka.
DeleteThese are fabulous, Ivana! I used to love paper dolls when I was younger - I had a shoebox full of them, and would recreate outfits from TV (Bob Mackie clothes from The Carol Burnett show, more awesome outfits from The Love Boat). I wish I still had them, but I tossed them all when I was in my early 20s (regret). Bold colours are wonderful for lifting the mood. I hope you are doing okay, my dear. Hug.
ReplyDeleteThanks dear, I'm more or less fine now.
DeleteYou look amazing in the yellow blazer Ivana! Love the illustrations!
ReplyDeleteYou are always so talented with these illustrations Ivana!! I just love how you create them.

DeleteI really love the green paper doll! Her outfit is brilliant and you've captured her features, the shading is perfect! I was bought a paperdoll called Victoria when I was about 10- she came in a book with all these outfits to cut out. I used to make dozens and dozens of dresses for her! I loved her, she was soo much fun.
ReplyDeleteYour illustrations are really always captivating and it is fun to see you alongside them today!
Hope that school is not too manic. I have my first proper day with teaching children on Thursday but I will still have lots of different ages...nervous!!!
Thank you Kezzy. I hope it all went well with the kiddos.
DeleteIt's totally understandable if you can't post at the same frequency because of the pandemic and your health. I haven't been posting as much for the same reasons but in the midst of a pandemic, our health and wellbeing should be even more of a priority so please continue to concentrate on taking good care of yourself dear Ivana. That said, I'm glad to see another one of your illustration posts as I always enjoy your artwork as well your artistic process.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rowena. I do agree with you.
DeleteGreetings Ivana! I'm happy to know you're still being creative. I like that you made the fashion illustration into paper cutouts. That's so fun and also sweet of you to share them with your nieces. I hope you're taking good care of yourself and blog when you feel like doing it! I'm not much of a blazer girl but you make wearing the structured outerwear so effortless. The pink heels you wear is something I'd imagined a barbie would wear. Super feminine! I really adore the whole outfit as it spells summer and feminine allure :D xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you. You're right. These pink shoes are totally Barbie appropriate:):).
