HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND GREETINGS FROM MOSTAR!

 Hello dear readers! I hope those of you who celebrate Christmas had a lovely celebration yesterday. Truth be told, I was really unwell yesterday, so I didn't get to celebrate much. Fortunately,   I'm feeling better today. I hope to be able to blog more frequently during the holidays.  In this post, I'll share some photographs taken last weekend in Mostar. Advent in Mostar was lovely this year. I spent my Advent travelling to and from Split to Mostar city. Split was also nicely decorated, but I didn't get to enjoy it much because I was quite busy. In terms of logistics, it can a little bit complicated living in two countries. Fortunately, Mostar and Split are not that far apart, just a few hours drive. Still, it can be quite challenging. As always, I try to make the most out of things. I know my readers won't mind seeing either of these cities featured in the background, for they are both truly gorgeous. 

Pozdrav dragi čitatelji! Nadam se da ste vi koji slavite Božić imali lijepu proslavu jučer. Jučer mi je bilo stvarno loše tako da i nisam imala neki osjećaj Božića, ali srećom danas mi je bolje. Nadam se da ću moći češće pisati blog tijekom praznika. U ovom postu podijelit ću neke fotografije snimljene prošlog vikenda u Mostaru. Advent u Mostaru je ove godine bio lijep. Advent sam provela putujući između Splita i Mostara. Split je također bio divno okićen, ali nisam stigla previše toga videjti jer sam bila poprilično zauzeta. Što se tiče logistike, zna malo zakomplicirati život u dvije zemlje. Srećom, Mostar i Split nisu toliko udaljeni, samo nekoliko sati vožnje. Ipak, ponekad je to dosta izazovno. Uvijek se trudim iz stvari izvući maksimum. Znam da mojim čitateljima neće smetati vidjeti ijedan od ova dva grada u pozadini jer su oba istinski prekrasni.

    Beautiful photos! Love the lights! Such a wonderful outfit too. We went to the park to see the Christmas lights on Christmas eve. Wow, it was so crowded with cars.  Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything. Sometimes we fall in love with places just the way we fall in love with people. All I can say is that Hutovo Blato is one of those special places. I've fallen in love with it during my first visit. Maybe it's the sea child in me that's feeling (and missing) the Adriatic? After all, the Adriatic is not far from here. OZZ STUDENTS' FASHION SHOW, MENTOR FASHION DESIGNER STANKA ZOVKO (MOSTAR INTERNATIONAL FAIR)

EN  Hello! Today I'm happy to share with you a wonderful fashion show I attended last Friday at Mostar International Fair. As you might remember, I regularly visit Mostar International Fair.  Anyhow, this time I was there to see and support a  really special fashion show. This fashion show showed creations from students who attended a fashion sewing and design course held by designer Stanka Zovko. If you remember, a few years back  I attended this sewing and design course myself. I was invited to present my creations as well. I couldn't participate myself this year due to previous engagements, but who knows maybe next year I'll get the chance. How amazing would it be to participate as a fashion designer? The arrival of spring has been bittersweet. On one hand, it is always beautiful to watch the rebirth of nature, but on the other there is so much anxiety, fear and suffering in the world right now. Perhaps the outfit I'm wearing today is a good metaphor for that. An all black look with some colourful accents. Sometimes I look around me and marvel at all the beauty and yet at the same time I'm aware that dark times might well be ahead of us. Darkness and Light .
