FRIDAY FASHION ILLUSTRATION: A CHERRY PRINT DRESS

Greetings my dear readers and/or  fellow bloggers! Happy 1st of August!

Today I'm going to publish this post from my cellphone because I cannot connect my laptop to Internet for some reason.

As regular readers of my blog know, fashion illustrating is not only something I do, it's something I have always done.

I loved doing it when I was little, playing with paper dolls and all. I never really grew out of it, I just found more ways to do it. Over the years, I have gotten quite creative with fashion illustration, working with and exploring different media.

The fashion sketch I'm sharing today is fairly simple.  It's a quick illustration of a white cherry A-line dress I had for ages.

I have recently worn this dress to a visit to Split city. I paired it with a black and white hat , a mini beige bag,  a random tote bag and a pair of tropical print sandals. 






I placed the illustration on the wall of my current work place in Seget (near Trogir) just because I couldn't figure out where else to put it.

I added a bouquet of flowers for no reason. I wasn't actually holding flowers in the reference photograph I used.

 Below you can see the pencil sketch. I did the pencil sketch first and then I used some markers and coloured pencils to fill in the illustration.

I ALSO ILLUSTRATE FASHION BLOGGERS- In this post from last March, I shared two fashion illustrations I made inspired by one of Silvia Negretti's outfits.  As some of you might know, there is a regular feature on my blog where I post my art inspired by fashion bloggers. So, this means I'm back with another Inspired by post. This is not the first time I'm illustrating Silvia. I posted  another fashion drawing based on her outfit in 2016. I have been following and reading Silvia's blog S in Fashion Avenue for many years. We might have been started our blogs around the same time, but I remember hers was one of the first blogs I discovered. I always find great fashion inspiration there. 

There is another regular feature on my blog where I post fashion illustrations called: Friday Fashion Illustration! My last post in this category was published at the end of February: 


Prior to that, there was a Friday illustration post published last month and it wasn't exactly a proper Fashion Illustration Friday as it featured an old illustration of mine, but still maybe it counts!

I shared some new holiday fashion illustrations to wish you Happy New Year, though!

In December, I also shared a happy holidays posts with my art!

In December 2024, I also shared a fashion illustration of my khaki outfit I wore for a visit to Čapljina.

 Now, here comes the reference photograph taken by my lovely colleague on our day off.

Isn't Split city beautiful? 

I felt quite comfortable in this summer  styling!






My friend showed me the best place to get desserts in Split city!

My dessert was amazing and so was hers. 

How fabulous that we were both free on the same day, so we visited my home city together!

I had such a great time! 

I only get one free day per week, so it's wonderful when I can make most od it.

To be honest, sometimes I'm too tired to do anything on my free day. I was actually sick on a couple of my free days this Summer. I think it's just exhaustion. 

However, this particular day off was wonderful. It was an active day, but in a good way. So,  I  managed to feel fully rested the next day.

A lovely day off can make such a difference!

I had lunch with my parents, explored my home town with a colleague and had a drink with my brother and sister-in-law in the evening.




Between lunch and drinks in Trogir, we wondered through Žnjan beaches.

Finally, I can show you some images from there.

We had a lot of fun enjoying the scenery.

We also did some people watching!

It was windy and I loved it.

Sea breeze is better than any air conditioning!

    I love the dress, the hat and your illustration! You catched it really well.
    I haven't been to Split, but to other Croatian Cities like Dubrovnik or Mostar. I love the beauty of those typical white marble stones on the pedestrian areas, and outside at the beaches the landscape is fantastic. Nice to hear and see that you had such a lovely day, especially when I read that you only have one day per week off...!

    Hello!
    I always think that your drawings capture the person portrayed very well, in this case you! I must say that this square is magnificent, and so are you! I really like the cherry pattern, I think it's so cute! I hope you really rest on your day off and that you can recover from the fatigue of work. The view of this beach after the renovation work is perfect.

It was over 40 degrees Celsius (that's over 100 Fahrenheit) when these photographs were taken. Seriously! I'm obviously a desert type when I'm able to enjoy being out at midday in a city that is practically an oven. A RED DRESS FOR A DINNER DATE AT RESTAURANT ASIA ( SPLIT, CROATIA)

If you know me, you know that I'll grab every opportunity to don on a statement dress. Life is to short to wear boring dresses. Nothing is quite as dramatic as a statement red dress, am I right or what? I was planning on walking miles that night, so I paired my red dress with comfy shoes, a straw bag and a pink blazer (just in case if it gets windy). I'm a fan of wearing dramatic dresses with comfy shoes, it makes them stand out more- and it can make the outfit not only more comfortable but also fresh. I wore this red midi dress with ruffled sleeves for a date night in Chinese restaurant Asia in Split ( HERE - one of my favourite places to grab Chinese food in the city). I had a lovely time dinning there with my significant  other. I pretty much always order the same thing: home made noodles with veggies and dumplings. As always, the food was yummy. Rain, street art and smiles / KiŔa, ulična umjetnost i osmijesi

This was one of those days when you can't stop smiling and you're not even sure why. To tell you the truth this outfit is also from last year, but considering that it is raining outside now is actually the perfect time to post it. These photographs were taken in Mostar and I rather like them, especially those with the street art in the background. Not suprisingly, I'm a big fan of graffiti and street art, even more so when they're done artistically and when they become true works of art. I always try to share street art with you on my blog, because it can be very creative and inspiring. Back at University, I even wrote one paper about graffiti in Split city. Sights to see, places to visit (+outfit post) / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti (+ odjevna kombinacija)

I'm starting a new feature on my blog called  Sights to see, places to visit  and this is my first post of the kind. Today I have for you one dinning recommendation and a bit of history to spice it up. That doesn't sound too bad, does it?. So if you ever happen to come to Mostar, I recommend you to visit one pub that besides a wonderful selection of beers, also serves exquisite wines (this is a wine region after all) and delicious dishes.  When I first came into Mostar, I have fallen in love with one particular street. It was the trees that so enamored me. They belong to the Platanus family of trees and in English they are called plane or plane trees. Thanks to this pub's website I have learned that these trees were planted in 1889 to welcome Belgian Crown princess Stephanie and Crown prince Rudolf of Austria and celebrate their visit to Mostar.  Let's get back to the way this history information connects with the pub I just recommended visiting. Les Miserables (outfit post+ book recommendation/ odjevna objava+ preporuka knjige)

I honestly don't remember when I enjoyed a novel as much as Les Miserable s by Victor Hugo and that, taken the fact that literature is a huge part of my life, is saying a lot. I loved absolutely everything about it, not just the characters and the story but also those parts that were historical and philosophical. This is a true classic and I good reminder to myself why it is always a good idea to get back to the classics. Now, about the outfit. Cat ears that I'm wearing started out as a necklace, worked part time as a belt and a bracelet, but you know how it is with jewellery I make, I always find new uses for it. Sometimes I think about the different function in the process of designing my pieces, but sometimes I get ideas as time goes up. This necklace I'm wearing is also my creation.
