TWO WAYS TO STYLE VINTAGE LEVI'S 501 JEANS IN WINTER

Baby, it's cold outside. You know what that means- time to style cozy winter outfits. Today I'll talk about styling a vintage classic- 501 Levi's. This particular Levi's jeans is one of most iconic denim pieces of all times. With nineties trending, vintage jeans are in high demand and that especially goes for iconic brands such as Levi's. When styling your vintage Levi's jeans, you have several options to choose for. You can opt to get inspired by vintage trends or opt for more modern ones. You can also mix different periods of fashion history. The last opinion is the most fun one if you ask me. Just remember to have fun. Naturally, you don't have to opt for a vintage pair, you can buy a new pair, but there is something to be said about owning a vintage pair of jeans. I actually don't shop for vintage pieces that often, but I wear a lot of vintage. I take good care of my vintage pieces so they would last longer, and I rescue vintage pieces from people I know. I can't tell you how many times I prevented someone from tossing a vintage piece in the trash. When will people learn that vintage clothes are both stylish and environmentally friendly opinion? Anyhow, let's get back to topic and that would be styling vintage jeans.

STYLING LEVI'S 501 WITH A TEDDY BEAR COAT

This outfit is a no brainer. I paired this pair of vintage jeans with my vintage teddy bear coat knowing that these two retro items will get together nicely. For accessories, I choose a beige scarf that matched my teddy bear coat and a blue tote style bag that matched my jeans. I finished the outfit with a cute beanie. It was quite cold that day so I even wore gloves (something I rarely do). How do you like my winter styling?

 ČAPLJINA (CHAPLJINA) CITY

These photographs were taken in Čapljina which is a city I can definitely recommend visiting. Recently I posted about one winter destination in Herzegovina and if I ever make a list of places, this city deserves to be on that list. Why? Firstly, it is a very neat little city, very pedestrian friendly and simply perfect for a nice stroll. Secondly, there are many lovely locations in the vicinity, such as Mogorjelo (ancient Roman villa site) and there is also a Equestrian club Vranec, a place where you can ride horses and enjoy historical sights at the same time. Did I also mention that nature there is amazing? The nature park Hutovo Blato is only a short distance away. If you're the type that needs to see to believe, here are five links to some of my previous posts showing off this beautiful little Herzegovina's city.

1. Mogorjelo ( a post focused on describing the historical sight Mogorjelo)
2. Wearing a red puffer and Taking a stroll in Čapljina ( an outfit post but one featuring many photographs of the city as well)

I have to say that I'm really loving this beige & nude trend. Who knew brown shades could be so alluring? What are your favourite shades? Do you like beige? Did you know that the name for beige colour originates from French where the word used to mean 'natural wool', that is, wool that hasn't been neither bleach nor coloured. Isn't that interesting? Wool is certainly in demand these days, with this whole trend of wool and teddy bear coats. I think it's fabulous since wool is a great material and can keep us warm.

STYLING LEVI'S 501 WITH A TARTAN SKI JACKET

What I like so much about this particular styling is a mix of colour. I choose to wear a big pink bag and a pastel purple sweater under my green tartan jacket. I think these colours go well with these light blue Levi's. If you have read my post about my favourite pairs of jeans, you would have had already seen how I styled these jeans with this green puffer. You know that I'm a fan of wearing colour in winter, so I love outfits like this one.

In case anyone is wondering, the shooting location is Šantićeva one of my favourite streets in Mostar city. This seemingly abandoned house has a certain charm to it, but the whole street is quite interesting and picturesque. It is very quiet here, almost no traffic and it seems like the time has stopped. It is definitely a place I can recommend visiting.

That would be all for today lovely readers. How do you dress for the cold? Do you have any tips for styling vintage jeans? Do you wear Levi's? If yes, what is your favourite model? Do you wear jeans often? How do you style your jeans in winter? Thank you for reading and have a lovely Sunday.

  3. I only recently started to wear jeans - but do have some Levis. I bought them second hand in a charity shop. They are not vintage but are skinnies and are very comfortable. I now wear jeans most days when I am home.

  4. I wanted 501's sooooooooooooo much when I was a teenager- they were THE THING! Alas, I never found a pair to fit me properly. My mum let me wear her vintage Levi jeans though, eventually- though they weren't 501's! Your teddy coat is totally cosy. I am fairly ambivalent about beige. Generally I find it a bit boring but I do have a few beige things I wear now and then!

  5. Great winter look. I used to wear the 501s in the 1990s! The jeans I wear now look just like them. The fit is classic and will never go out of style. The city sounds lovely. It is fun to stroll streets and find beauty around.

  7. They are great jeans and they look fantastic in both outfits! Sadly I find it really tricky to get jeans that fit me second hand - unless it's a brand I already know my sizing in, haha! I tend to just buy jeans and pants from one store as I know they fit, although I do have a couple from other places now!

Hope that you have been having a wonderful weekend :)

  9. You know? I used to have a pair of Levi's that were flannel lined!! They were so perfect for the cold weather. I'd say too bad I didn't keep them, but they wouldn't fit now. My body was more muscular and bigger then!!
But I do tend to reach for my jeans in the cold. Along with my tall boots!!!
    I love both outfits, Ivana!!
The teddy bear coat is something I've been craving lately, and the plaid one is so pretty!!

Tall boots and jeans are perfect for the cold days.
I used to be more muscular and bigger when I was younger, maybe it was because I did more sport?

  10. That's funny that you'd call Levi 501s "nineties fashion" - I've always considered them 1980s. Back when i was a student there was a huge warehouse that stocked used Levis from the 1950s that had been imported from the USA - us girls would wear them oversized but tightly belted to show off our waists.
Love the teddy bear coat! xxx

Beige goes so well with your dark hair. For me as a blonde, it does not fit so well because it makes me too pale.

I never had Levis jeans - they just don't suit me: I think these jeans are cut more for a figure like yours ... Nevertheless, I like your styling suggestions very well - and the shooting-locations, too!

    1. Thank you for your wish Rostrose. I think Levis come in different styles, so finding a pair that will fix our body type is manageable. This particular model (Levi's 501) does make the wearer look more curvy, but I think that is why it is so popular again. Today curvy is in.

  27. I'm so happy that the 90s are having a moment when it comes to style since it's one of my favorite eras for fashion.

I think your first outfit is lovely. The teddy coat looks so cozy and warm and pairs beautifully with the jeans. I also like your second look. The colors are so fun.

I used to not like brown shades because I wore them so much as a child, but now I'm really growing to enjoy them again.
