Fashion illustrations of the day (red lip) / Modne ilustracije dana (crvene usne)

One evening, two fashion illustrations. I didn't use any reference. It was just me and my imagination.  You know, I'm not even sure if it is one girl or two of them. It was only after I had painted them, that I noticed that these two faces are quite similar. Perhaps it is the same girl? These two illustrations have another thing in common. Both of these girls are wearing a red lipstick- or is it one girl  wearing a red lipstick with two different outfits? Either way, it is all about the red lip. Never underestimate the power of a red lipstick. 

The first outfit is a combination of a purple sheer blouse with flare sleeves and blue jeans. The bag she is wearing is a clutch. A cute outfit, perhaps not suitable for this kind of weather but with a very warm coat and an additional layer of clothing it could work just fine. Layering, layering, layering- it is still all about layering. The second outfit is a similar combination, just the top is red in this case. Alright, you can't actually see the jeans on the second painting, but you can take my world for it. What can I say? Right now it is all about jeans and adorable tops in this head of mine.

 For those of you that are day dreaming of Spring and Summer, these two fashion illustrations can serve as an inspiration for the warmer months. Surprisingly, I'm fine with Winter- for now. Anyway, the medium of both of these is watercolour on paper. I honestly love these two turned out. That thin brush I bought is making my life so easier...and the shop assistant told me it can't be used for watercolour. Well, I guess she was wrong because it works like a charm. Jedna večer, dvije modne ilustracije. Nisam radila prema nikakvoj slici ili predlošku. Samo ja i moja mašta. Nisam čak ni sigurna je li u pitanju ista djevojka ili dvije različite. Tek kada sam ih naslikala, primijetila sam da su ova dva lica jako slična. Možda je to ista djevojka? Ove dvije ilustracije imaju još nešto zajedničko. Obje djevojke nose crveni ruž...ili to ili ista djevojka nosi crveni ruž sa dvije različite kombinacije? U svakom slučaju, naglasak je na crvenom ružu. Nikad nemojte podcijeniti moć crvenoga ruža za usne. 

Prva odjevna kombinacija se sastoji od prozirne ljubičaste bluze sa širokim rukavima i plavih traperica.  Nosi i malu torbicu bez naramenica. Slatka kombinacija, ne baš prigodna za ovo vrijeme, ali možda ispod jako toploga kaputa i još ponekog sloja odjeće? Slojevito odijevanje je još uvijek glavna stvar. Druga kombinacija je slična, samo je majica u ovom slučaju crvene boje. Dobro, ne možete baš vidjeti traperice na drugoj slici, ali mi možete vjerovati na riječ. Što reći? Trenutno mi se u glavi sve vrti oko traperice i slatkih topova.

Za one od vas koji sanjaju proljeće i ljeto, ove dvije modne ilustracije mogu poslužiti kao nadahnuće za toplije mjesece. Iznenađujuće, meni zima zasada ne smeta. Uglavnom, medij za obje ilustracije su vodene na papiru. Onaj tanki kist koji sam kupila mi je olakšao život....a prodavačica mi je rekla da se ne može koristiti za vodene boje. Izgleda da je bila u krivu jer meni je odličan. Želim svima divan tjedan!

I ALSO ILLUSTRATE FASHION BLOGGERS- In this post from last March, I shared two fashion illustrations I made inspired by one of Silvia Negretti's outfits.  As some of you might know, there is a regular feature on my blog where I post my art inspired by fashion bloggers. So, this means I'm back with another Inspired by post. This is not the first time I'm illustrating Silvia. I posted  another fashion drawing based on her outfit in 2016. I have been following and reading Silvia's blog S in Fashion Avenue for many years. We might have been started our blogs around the same time, but I remember hers was one of the first blogs I discovered. I always find great fashion inspiration there.

Prior to that, there was a Friday illustration post published and it wasn't exactly a proper Fashion Illustration Friday as it featured an old illustration of mine, but still maybe it counts!

    Sviđa mi se ova narančasta kombinacija, baš je savršeno proljetna! Moram priznati da još uvijek ne dozivam vruće dane iako jedva čekam da ova grozna hladnoća već jednom prođe...zadnjih dana je zaista neizdrživo hladno ovdje.

    Zaista liče :) Meni izgledaju kao npr. dvojajčane bliznakinje :) Tebi nije ni potrebno neko posebno nadahnuće jer ovo je dokaz da tvoja mašta i inspiracija rade kako treba. Crveni ruž nikada neće biti dosadan. Ja ga jako volim i nosim relativno često. Takođe bih nosila i obe kombinacije, a posebno su me osvojili karneri na ljubičastoj bluzi. Radujem se proleću ali što se mene tiče ne mora da požuri. Po prvi put otkad znam za sebe, zima mi ne smeta uopšte :) Super je što si probala da slikaš i na tom papiru upkros "pravilima" ;)

Back in the day when I studied Art in college, I would always struggle to do that.       yes, maybe they are sisters. Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm full a lot of inspiration when it comes to drawing and I have a very vivid imagination, I suppose it all comes down to practice now. I need to practice more.

THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. My fashion illustration of the day + book review / Moja modna ilustracija dana + ogled knjige ( Le Diable au corps) 6.12.2016

This morning I read an amazing novel.  Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Hello everyone! Have I ever talked to you about my love for folklore? I've always been keen on exploring folklore dresses and costumes, mostly because I find them to be very inspirational. In my view, folklore is one of the best fashion inspiration out there. The diversity and the beauty of international folklore dresses and costumes is enough to leave anyone impressed. Here I illustrated one of Croatian national costumes ( we have a lot of them), worn by Croatian national folklore dance ensemble Lado. As a reference for this drawing, I used a photograph from Lado's official catalog. The medium is coloured pencils on papers. Zdravo svima! River Buna Revisited / Rijeka Buna ponovni posjet

About a week ago, we decided to head out to banks of river Buna. It is the perfect getaway when we only have an hour or two to spare. Weather that day was very odd. It was quite windy but quite warm. It is always tricky to get dressed for that kind of weather.  I decided to wear a retro girly outfit, a sort of school uniform. I kind of felt like a young lady at the begging of the last century. I've had this silver silk blouse for a long time and I still love it. I think it is the only silk clothing item in my closet. The funny thing is that the wind kept undoing  the bow on my blouse, so I had to tie it over and over again.  Apart from that, this was the perfect outfit for that day.I know that the poloneck that is visible under the blouse won't be to everyone's liking, but I love wearing them like that. THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO 2024 MOVIE REVIEW

In this post, I'll share with you a review of  The Count of Monte Cristo.  I don't go to theatre/movies often. In fact, years have been known to pass without me seeing a film on the big screen. However, when I saw the poster for the new 2024  The Count of Monte Cristo movie, I knew I simply had to go.  I really wanted to see this film, and I didn't even read the reviews or watch the trailer for it. I wasn't even intimidated by the fact it is a three hours long. Afterall, it's based on a rather long novel, so I didn't expect it to be short.  Now, I usually review books on my blog, not movies. Hello, in this post I'll share a designer fashion illustration. I know what you're thinking. It's Summer, how can you think about coats? Well, I can. The sweat is literally dripping down by forehead, but I'm going to share an illustration inspired by Diane Von Furstenberg's 2018 Resort collection. It is always good to look forward to something, right? I'm pretty sure that a lot of ladies are looking forward to this collection hitting the stores this November. What I personally find so irresistible about it are- the colours. I'm very keen on bold colours and patterns, so no wonder this collection caught my eye. Znam što mislite. Ljeto je, kako možeš razmišljati o kaputima? Jednostavno mogu. Znoj mi kapa niz čelo, ali ipak ću podijelit modnu ilustraciju nadahnutu kolekcijom Diane Von Furstenberg za 2018. godinu. Inspired by..... Tijana/ Nadahnuta....Tijanom

Hi everyone! It's time for another  Inspired by ....post. The medium is acrylic on cardboard. This time I illustrated Tijana from fashion abejita . Painting lace is always a challenge and I'm aware that I have a long way to go when it comes to illustrating fabrics, but all things considering, I think I did pretty well. In fact, I'm quite happy with how this painting turned out. This outfit is a summery one, but it is suitable for Spring as well. Besides, green is in this Spring.  Zdravo svima! Vrijeme je za još jednu Nadahnuta s. ..objavu. Medij su akrilne boje na kartonu. Ovaj put sam naslikala Tijanu sa bloga fashion abejita . Slikati čipku je izazov i znam da imam još puno toga za naučiti kada je ilustriranje tekstila u pitanju, no  kada se sve uzme u obzir, mislim da ova slika nije loše ispala.
