This is the first and the last time I wore this faux leather necklace. I wore it this once because I wanted to show it to you but I actually made it for a friend of mine, knowing that she likes the red and black colour sheme. On the other hand, this is not the first time I visited nature resort Hutovo blato. Neither it is the first time I'm blogging about it. Ovo je prvi i zadnji put što sam nosila ovu ogrlicu od eko kože, a stavila sam je samo da vam je pokažem jer sam je zapravo napravila za prijateljicu za koju znam da voli crveno crnu kombinaciju boja. No, ovo nije prvi put da sam posjetila park prirode Hutovo blato, a ni da sam pisala o njemu na blogu. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF HUTOVO BLATO WETLAND?

One of the most interesting things about Hutovo blato is that the water found there is crystal clear. This is not something you would expect in a marsh, but the water in Hutovo blato is cold and crystal clear. Not all the marshes are the same, and taking in consideration the area it is located in, it makes sense. 

Hutovo blato is a Mediterranean wetland, so you can expect to enjoy the benefits of Mediterranean climate.

In the summer, this water in the marsh is not exactly cold anymore, but it still remains pretty clear. Some people enjoy swimming in Hutovo blato in the summer. 

HUTOVO BLATO IS A  TYPICAL WETLAND IN THE SENSE THAT IT IS A CENTRE OF BIODIVERSITY

Some things are true for all wetlands. They are all precious in a number of ways, mainly as centres of biodiversity. Wetlands are very valuable in preserving and aiding species and whole ecosystems. Marshes provide habitats for both flora and fauna, animals and plants. They are also natural reservours of water. All wetlands are precious and we should protect them.

What makes Hutovo Blato even more precious is that it is home to some many animal and plant species! By protecting Hutovo blato, we protect not only those animals and plants, but also our future. 

 

Now, let's talk about the clothes I'm wore....This vintage skirt is really dear to me and to make her even more special, I decided to paint on it with textile paints. You may have seen this skirt before, but in the meantime the design I painted has became even more intricate. What can I say? I paint every day and I paint on just about anything. I always had this great need to make and create something with my own hands. I've completed this look with a vintage shirt and bag. ...Startas sneakers were a must, really I don't know how I could have lived without them. 

Sada, idemo malo pričati o odjeći koju sam nosila....Suknja je vintage i jako mi je draga, pa sam je odlučila napraviti još dražom tako da sam je ručno oslikala tekstilnim bojama. Možda ste već vidjeli ovu suknju, ali od tada sam učinila sliku na njoj još složenijom. Što reći? Slikam svaki dan i na svemu što bi dođe po ruku, a uvijek sam imala tu veliku potrebu da stvaram i radim stvari svojim vlastitim rukama. Upotpunila sam je s vintage košuljom i torbicom, te  startas tenisicama ( ne znam kako sam mogla živjeti bez njih).

In this post, I wrote about making necklaces from faux leather. 

My history of making necklaces goes way back to my early teenage years and to some extent even to my childhood, but today we shall speak only of faux leather necklaces. Honestly, I would probably need a book  sized post if I were to talk of all the ways I have made necklaces over the years, so let's limit the subject somewhat for the sake of brevity. I started making necklaces from recycled leather back in 2014 and documented it on my blog a number of times. What I have been using to make these faux leather necklaces hasn't changed ever since- I got all the material I needed from a second hand faux leather coat! In fact, you had the chance to  see me wear it back in 2013. This faux leather coat was second hand so it was sustainable to start with. Actually, the coat was one of the pieces left over after a clothes fundraising charity thing I organized with friends back in 2011.  Anyhow, I wore this coat until it was all worn out- and then I made tons of necklaces from it. What is more, I only used the bottom of the coat and I might convert the top into a cropped jacket some day- if I manage to find. I misplaced the top of the coat at some point in time, but I digress.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN IVANA'S STATEMENT NECKLACE? 

If you decide to make a similar necklace, why not try using the stuff you have at home? I think most people have an old faux leather bag (if not a coat) they can recycle. Plus, you can use any kind of thicker textile for this, it doesn't have to be faux leather per se. 

ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE A (RECYCLED) STATEMENT NECKLACE LIKE THIS IS:

- (RECYCLED) FAUX LEATHER

- (RECYCLED) SATIN CORD 

- (RECYCLED) SEWING RHINESTONES

- And obviously you'll need a NEEDLE AND A THREAD (almost forgot to write that, though!)

Step no.1:

-cut out as much faux leather as you will need

Step no.2:

-sew the decoration of  your choice (sewing beads, rhinestones, crystals- whatever suits your fancy)

Step no.3 :

-sew the satin cord making sure it is the right length for your neck....and it's really as easy as that!

- ušijte dekoraciju po izboru (perlice, kamenčići, kristalići za šivanje- što god želite)
