If there is one outfit that screams spring and summer for me, it's dresses worn with sneakers. Naturally, dresses and sandals is another lovely pairing, but sneakers also have many benefits. From being orthopedic (not all of them but still) to being appropriate for all kind of terrains, there is no denying that sneakers are practical. You can take them anywhere, from a rock beach to a sandy one. You can pair them fun socks or tights for those days it's still not warm enough. Long story short, they do make for a lovely choice in this season. What are your thoughts? Do you like to wear sneakers in spring and summer? My last post was about styling dad sneakers with jeans and a blazer, and today I'll show you some of my favourite sneaker and dress combinations. If you ask me, the answer to the question can I wear dresses with sneakers is - yes, you absolutely can.

I find that while androgynous style has its benefits, generally speaking I do prefer feminine outfits. I guess it could be said that I tend to gravitate toward feminine clothing. Achieving femininity and not compromising of comfort is actually not that hard these days. Casual style is very open to other influences, and you can bring tons of feminine elements into it. Whatever makes you feel feminine will cut it. After all, it is all about how we feel right? When it comes to outfits, my casual but girly formula is pretty simple: I pair dresses or skirts with sneakers. It is interesting how much difference a pair of shoes can make. If you wear casual shoes such as sneakers, your outfit automatically becomes more comfortable. A great way to balance it to opt for a dress. Dresses and sneakers have been my go to combination when I want to wear something casual but girly. This outfit formula is simply perfect for both spring and summer. Moreover, it is something I plan to wear all Summer long.

A great thing about pairing dresses with sneakers is that there are so many ways to do it. We get to choose between so many different dress and sneakers styles. For example, we can play with lengths. A midi or maxi dress worn with sneakers will look different than a midi one. Moreover, there are so many different sneaker models to choose from. I don't actually own a ton of sneakers because I don't see the point in pilling clothes and shoes. However, those sneakers that I do have, I  often wear with dresses and skirts so they do get plenty of wear. My favourite pair of sneakers is probably the striped Startas model (a Croatian brand). I might get another pair this summer, they are really an ideal choice for summer. Bellow you can see some of my favourite sneakers and how I wear them with dresses.

I have a pair of converse style sneakers my husband picked up for me in some supermarket. I was never temped to buy a real Converse pair. I don't see why a shoe made from rubber and textile should cost that much. Yes, design does count but I don't see the difference between the imitation and the real thing. Generally speaking, the Converse style sneaker is great for spring and summer because it is so light. It is probably the 'it' sneakers to wear to summer festivals. I don't think it's a good orthopedic choice just because it is so flat, but it does look cute with many different outfits. I like to wear it both with plain and printed dresses. When it comes printed, it can allow you to create a subtle print mixing. It is a shoe that is easy to customize and DIY, so that's another bonus. I've seen many girls draw things on this sneaker type. Bellow you can see three different summer outfits I wore it with in the past. Let me know how you like them.

With the athletic sneaker trend going strong you can really get away with wearing your running shoes with whatever you want. You can style your trainers with a variety of dresses. For a fresh look, try pairing your running shoes with a statement dress. Don't forget to have fun with layering too. For example, if you want to style dad's sneakers in a girly way, you should try styling them with a girly dress. Makes sense, right? You can make any outfit more feminine by putting on a girly dress. If you want to add additional interest to your street outfit, why not wear a flared or a princess sleeve dress? A bit of statement sleeve goes a long way.  Ruffled dresses are another way to make your sneaker outfit more romantic.

Now, it's time to share a few outfits with my favourite pair of striped  Startas sneakers. You can have a look at the Startas collection here (not sponsored, I just really like them).'There is only one problem', I said to myself after I bought my first fair, 'How am I supposed to want to take them off my feet when they're so damn comfortable?'. I resolved that problems by wearing them every day for a whole week and returning to my heels collection only after I started to miss it. There is a solution for every problem, as they say. Seriously though, I do think this is the perfect summer shoe. I'm a big fan of stripes, and this striped sneaker really won my heart. Bellow are some of the summer outfits I've paired it with. I like to pair sneakers with printed dress. I think it's such a great look. Do you agree? Another thing I do often is wearing statement necklaces with the sneakers and dresses, mostly those I made myself. Scroll down to see more 'dress with striped sneakers outfits'.

Summer (and late spring) is perhaps the ideal time to rock printed dresses with sneakers. It is such an easy and comfy look. With a printed dress, you don't need many accessories to get noticed. A printed dress is a statement piece on its own. In other words, perfect for those days when you're in a rush or feeling lazy. Not that you shouldn't get more creative if you feel like it? There are many ways to style a printed dress. You can always play with accessories to make it stand out even more. What about you? Do you like to wear printed dresses in summer? If yes, do you pair them with sneakers? As I already said, I love to pair them with this striped pair and create a bit of subtle print mix. I do love a good print mix. How about you?

As always, thank you for reading and visiting. Have a lovely week ahead!

  16. Love this! Sneakers have always been my go-to when wearing dresses mostly because I can't walk in heels haha.

  19. You have styled these so fabulously Ivana!! In fact, I'm in love with those striped sneakers!! They make any outfit shine.
This is such a break from how I grew up. You only used to wear dresses with dressy shoes. But I think it's not only fun but super functional. I love all of the examples you showed.

  20. Oh my gosh, Ivana! You look sooo good with bangs. Why don't you wear it more?

As much as I love wearing heels, sometimes my feet just need a break. Sneakers are also more practical if a lot of walking will be involved too. Very cute outfits and good post.

    xo, Maria

  21. Hi Ivana,
I really like dresses but I never wore sneakers. I'll try it.

I would love to try like you :)

  23. Sneakers. The difference they make to a dress. From classic with heels to bang on trend when worn with sneakers. I haven't tried this look being so short but I'm very tempted to try xx

  25. I love wearing sneakers all year long. Great outfits, Ivana. I love your sense of style.

  26. Those striped pumps (that's what we Brits of a certain age call them) are fab. They're practical but feminine and quirky and look great with all your dresses. I love that you're sharing the brand 'cos you love it - I distrust sponsored posts but believe in a real and honest recommendation. x

    1. Sponsored posts are a mixed lot, but when we've been wearing a brand for ages and recommend it because we know it's great, that's a best recommendation indeed.

  27. I love wearing dress and sneakers!
    It's fashionable, beautiful and comfortable!
I loved your dresses, they are very beautiful.
Wear dress and all star has no error! ;)

  28. I'm right there with you- love sneakers and dresses!

  29. i love pairing dresses and sneakers as well 👍🏻✨

  30. I'm slowly getting round to wearing dresses with sneakers, and I particularly love your stripy pair worn with those cute floral dresses and that last polka dot one. Love your collages too, Ivana, they are so creative! Have a wonderful week! xxx

  31. I'm a big fan of sneakers as well. I always wear comfortable shoes when I have to walk more during the day and sneakers (orthopedic or not) tend to be more comfortable. They also come in a variety of fun colors so it's not like one has to sacrifice style :)

I think all the ways in which you paired dresses with sneakers are lovely. It's such a fun combination and the fact that it's also comfortable makes it a real winner for a long day. Have a wonderful week.

  32. Loved all the styling pics. You have styled the sneaker and dress combo so well! It's one of my favorite style combo. You look fab in all the pictures, Ivana

Hello, lovely readers! Summer is finally here. Are you as excited about summer as I am? Today I'm back with another summer styling, and this time it's about a white floral maxi dress. I love white items for the summer, and if they come with a floral print even better. If you read my last post, you know that I decided to welcome the summer in bay Torac (on island Hvar, Croatia). I told you that one of the first things I packed was a yellow jumpsuit as it is a good vacay item and so easy to throw on when you're at the beach. Another essential vacation classic is a maxi dress. This white maxi dress with a cute floral print proved to be the perfect vacation item because it is so easy to dress up and down (for example, here you can see how I styled this maxi with kitten heels). I actually got this white maxi dress as a part of a collaboration review post last year. Today you can see me wearing it in a more dressed down summer version, with tropical print sandals (same here) an…

How to style a yellow floral jumpsuit for summer? You know when I packed for island Hvar (Croatia), this yellow jumpsuit was one of the first things I packed. I don't wear jumpsuits and playsuits that often during the colder months but I opt for them often enough when it gets warmer. One great thing about a floral jumpsuit is that it is a statement piece on its own. That means that styling it is quite easy. Another advantage of this kind of garment is that you can easily dressed up or down. I wore this yellow jumpsuit to beach, so I dressed it down with a beach bag and white sandals. If I were to dress it up, I would probably pair it with heels (as I did here and here).
Jumpsuits are simply ideal for vacation wear. They are so easy to thrown on. I like to wear them over swimsuits for that beach chic look. I got this jumpsuit in a collaboration last year, and I'm still not bored of it. I definitely plan to wear it a lot for my island Hvar trip. Yellow is such a great colour f…

What to wear when you're travelling? In summer, I often opt for print dresses because they are fun and seem to go well with anything. I packed quite a few printed dresses for my visit to island Hvar (Croatia). As long as the dresses are comfortable, they are my 'go to' travel outfit. This mixed print dress is one of my favourite travel summer dresses. You have seen me wear it a lot on this blog, especially for hiking and sightseeing (and you know I believe in shopping one's closet). It's a great day to night dress as well, quite easy to dress up and down. My outfit proposal of the day is more casual in tone so you could said that I dressed the dress down. The shoes I choose to go along with this dress are printed sandals from Art brand. I bought them when I was in Split last spring and they're super comfortable (not sponsored).  I also wore a backpack because they are more practical for travelling. I have quite a pragmatic mind when it comes to fashion, and I …
