PEPITA SHORTS AND A CROPPED TOP FOR A VISIT TO HUTOVO BLATO

No summer is complete without a visit to nature park Hutovo Blato. This wetland nature park is such a gorgeous wildlife oasis. Perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Hutovo Blato happens to be one of my favourite destinations in Herzegovina. I'm happy that I managed to pay it another visit before the end of summer. Hands down, Hutovo Blato is one of the most beautiful nature parks in the area. Needless to say, I really enjoyed my last visit. Scroll down to see and read more about it!

THINGS TO DO IN NATURE PARK HUTOVO BLATO
1. GO FOR A BOAT RIDE AND ENJOY MAGNIFICENT VIEWS (BRING YOUR CAM!)
If you want to experience something truly unique, why not go for a boat ride? I went for a boat ride more than once and I can recommend this experience to everyone. It's possibly the best way to experience the wetland area. As this is a wetland area, some places are hard to reach by hiking so boat rides make perfect sense. So, taking a boat ride is a great way to really get yourself familiarized with the area. The boats used for these rides, as you can see, are very comfortable. The boat ride is also a great opportunity to take photographs of wild life, so be sure you bring your camera.
2. VISIT A SECRET BRIDGE THAT IS EVEN OLDER THAN THE FAMOUS OLD BRIDGE
Right next to the sign announcing entrance to the park,  you can see a very old bridge. If you don't know it is there and if you don't look carefully, you can easily miss it. For some reason, nobody really pays attention to this historical bridge.  This bridge is even older than the more famous and more 'touristy' old bridge in Mostar. If you want to avoid the crowds, and still get some cool bridge photos, this is the place to go. The bridge isn't super visible at times because of all the vegetation and greenery, but NOW that you know where it is, you won't have problems finding it. You're welcome!
3. DINE OR STOP FOR COFFEE AT THE RESTAURANT MOTEL PARK
There is a nice restaurant/motel in the park that I can recommend. As far as I know, it's called simply Motel Park and it's the only establishment of the sort in the park. Trust me, you won't be able to miss it. There is a parking area right next to it, and there you can park your car whether or not you're going to check it out or not. It's perfectly fine to park there even if you're just a visitor. There are no other parking areas in the park that I know of, but there is always enough place for parking. There is a playground for kids in front of the motel. The motel's restaurant has more than one outdoor sitting/dinner area as well as an inner dinning area. It's a really nice place.
4. GO HIKING OR CYCLING AND DISCOVER THE AMAZING NATURAL BEAUTY
Besides taking a boat ride, hiking and cycling are also a great ways to explore this nature park. Exploring this place on foot will allow you to interact with nature in an intimate way. The wild life you can spot is an additional bonus. You can also go cycling. You can drive to the park, but you can't really explore it fully by car. That is why I recommend strolling around, hiking or cycling. Moreover, the additional benefit of these activities is a health one. We all know about the health benefits of being physically active, don't we?

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT - HOW TO WEAR CROPPED TOP AFTER THIRTY?
I don't wear cropped tops that often, but when I do, I typically pair them with high waist items. That is what I did here. I'm fine with shorts as long as they are slightly longer. I always go for high waist cut when it comes to shorts because it is so flattering.  Some think you shouldn't wear shorts after a certain age but I simply don't agree with that. I think it all depends on what you're comfortable with and also on the occasion you're dressing for. I think everyone should wear what they like no matter the age (but you should also always make sure your outfit is appropriate for the occasion and the weather- that's just common sense). Personally, I have never been a fan of those really short shorts and I didn't wear them (except to the beach) even when I was much younger, so there's that.  Anyhow, I quite liked the combo of this cropped top with these preloved shorts. Back to the rest of this styling. The sandals and the cap were sensible options as the day was very warm and I needed the protection both from the sun and the heat.

AIMING FOR SUSTAINABILITY BY SHOPPING BY CLOSET EVERY DAY!
I'm happy to report that this outfit is pretty sustainable. I wore this t-shirt more than thirty times (I have actually had it for many years, I think I bought it as a teenager). See how I styled it previously here, here , here and here. These high waist printed pants were a second hand purchase. They look vintage to me but I have no idea whether they are or not, I'm just guessing. I actually wear these shorts all year around, even in winter. You can see how I styled these shorts here, here , here and here. These tropical sandals were such a great find. I've been practically living in them this summer. You can see how I wore them here, here, here, here and here. I almost forgot about the yellow belt! I took it off from one of my jumpsuits.

A FEW MORE LINKS THAT MIGHT HELP YOU IN EXPLORING HUTOVO BLATO
There are quite a few photographs in this post, I do try not to overboard. However,  if you want to see more of Hutovo Blato or learn more about this place, I'll leave the links to some other travel posts featuring this amazing nature park ( hereherehereherehere and here) as well the link to another Hutovo Blato boat ride I took HERE. My experience tells me that boat rides are definitely a great way to explore wetlands but hiking and strolling around are fabulous options as well. In the park you can also find information about the bird, fish and other wildlife that is typical for this place.
As always, thank you for reading and visiting!

    Baci!

  10. Great opening photo!! I am like you, I adore wetland parks, and Hutovo Blato is one gorgeous park judging from your post! Blato - болото! our languages are so similar at their roots! :) A boat ride would feel so good, I must find one in our area. You look adorable in your youthful outfit - wear shorts and crop tops, wear what you love and feel great in, that's always the key, and you, my dear, demonstrate it every single time. You are beautiful!
Sorry for random commenting/posting - life got so busy lately, but please know that I always have a warm spot for you in my heart. Lots of love, my dear!

  12. What an utterly enchanting nature reserve, Ivana. I absolutely love nature reserves which involve wetlands. We have several smaller reserves with lakes, ponds and swampy areas near where we live, but none of them offer boat trips. That must be absolutely delightful. And lovely boats they are too! Your outfit is just perfect for it. I totally agree with you that there are no age restrictions on certain items of clothing, and that you should definitely wear things you're feeling comfortable and confident in, whatever the so-called fashion rules are! It's mind-boggling to me that you still own, and still fit, into a tee-shirt you bought as a teenager! Enjoy your weekend, my lovely friend. xxx

I like the idea of having tons of options, sometimes people tend to thing that nature is boring but you show us that the possibilities are endless!

PS: I liked the pop of color in the outfit in the crop top and in the hat.... the hat is one of those special pieces that can take an outfit to the next level ;)

  16. Those shorts are a lovely length. I struggle with super-short shorts but these are great. I agree that high-waisted ones work well with cropped tops. This is a darling outfit and you look comfy and cool with your lovely nautical-looking hat. I always like it when you've worn that one. Your ideas for what to do here are all useful suggestions. I do enjoy a boat ride particularly.
