LAYERING A PINK PLEATED DRESS WITH A SUBTLE FLORAL PRINT

Summer is still warm and sunny where I'm at. On most days, I still opt for light summer dresses to get me through the sun soaked Mediterranean days. However, the evenings and mornings are definitely getting cooler. So, time has come to layer my summer dresses. There is a number of ways we can do this, but perhaps we can divide them in two main categories: one is with things we wear under the dress (jeans, leggings, tights, socks )  and the other category is all about items we wear over the dress (outwear of all sorts, blazers, jackets).  Today I'll show you two ways I wore this dress. One look is layered, the other is not. Not that there aren't ways to layer your dresses even when it's hot.  Now that is getting cooler it is just easier (and more natural) to think about layering. However, layering dresses in the summer hot weather is a topic already covered on this blog (read about it here here and here). I also wrote about layering summer dresses for Autumn by adding layers HERE and HERE. If you want, I can always devote a special post with the topic of styling dresses for Autumn.

This summer I often found myself reaching for one special vintage dress. You've seen me wear it here and here this summer. I've had this dress since forever. The material is polyester but due to its A-line cute this dress is wonderfully comfortable to wear in summer. I even wear it for travelling (proof here). My mother got this pink dress from her relatives and she wore it to a wedding when she was about nineteen. I discovered it in her closet when I was about that age and wore it to one wedding. I liked it so much that it became one of most worn vintage dresses in my closet. I wear it all year around. During Autumn and Winter I wear it with sweaters and blazers.  Scroll down to see the two ways I have worn it recently.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL #1 WITH BROWN SANDALS, A MINI BAG AND SILVER ACCESSORIES

I think this outfit worked quite well. I paired this dress with a beige brown and brown heeled sandals. In summer, I sometimes like to wear neutral bags and shoes, especially when I want to make the clothes (often a statement dress) stand out more. I accessorized with pretty pink earrings and a string necklace. I put my hair in a bun. I felt like a modern princess in this styling.

OUTFIT PROPOSAL #2 WITH BURGUNDY TIGHTS, OLIVE GREEN BOOTS AND A NAVY FLARED JACKET

This second styling was more about comfort. I layered this dress with cute burgundy tights and a flared jacket and I felt very cozy. I opted for a more comfortable shoe option as well. I've had these boots for ages. I prefer to wear them with flare jeans or wide trousers but sometimes I wear them with dresses and skirts as well.

ILLUSTRATED IDEAS WITH A PINK DRESS (FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY)

I'm not longer to keep up my FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY feature regularly, but I do have some quick creative collages to share for a bit of pink inspiration.

One of my popular posts in fashion illustration category was all about painting on hardboard.  Before that I re-imagined my magenta coat as a dress and illustrated it that way in this post. I also illustrated a forest a little bit. Sometimes I like to make the location a part of my fashion illustration. You can also peak into my recent sketches in this sketchbook art post.  You can find even more illustrations from my sketchbook here

Thank you so much for reading. Have a lovely day!

  7. What a beautiful vintage dress, Ivana, and for it to have belonged to your mom previously just makes it more special. It's wonderful on you, and looks great layered! I am also a big fan of layering dresses (under and over) at this time of you.

  9. That dress is a dream, Ivana, and I love that it's a family heirloom. I remember some of my own Mum's dresses with fondness, but unfortunately she wasn't a great keeper of things ... I especially love how you wore the dress with the burgundy tights, olive ankle boots and flared navy jacket. That's superb styling! xxx

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
