HOW TO TRANSITION A CHERRY PRINT DRESS FOR AUTUMN?
I love transitional fashion, I really do. The change of seasons is such an exciting time for fashionably inclined people. The change of seasons allows us to mix and match clothing items from different seasons and that is obviously a great vent for our creative urges. Nevertheless, the summer to autumn change is a bitter sweet time for many. I love autumn so I'm really looking forward to it, but on the other hand I also love summer. The good news is that we can keep wearing our summer dresses in autumn as well. I though it would be a nice challenge to compose a post where I would show you how to style a cherry print dress for Autumn. After all, what says summer and spring more than a cherry print dress? Today I'll show you how to wear a cherry print dress for colder weather. Making the most out of our closet is also good for sustainability so styling a summer dress for autumn is a win win situation. This particular cherry print dress is from last year, but I have an older one that I also wear in all seasons so check out this post about 17 ways to wear a cherry print dress to see more transitional outfits featuring a cherry print dress.
FIVE EASY WAYS TO STYLE A CHERRY PRINT DRESS FOR AUTUMN:
1. WEAR IT WITH TIGHTS OR LEGGINGS TO STAY WARM
Tights and leggings are an easy way to turn your cherry print dress into an outfit appropriate look. Tights and leggings obviously add warmth. Plus, you can also play with colour and pattern to make your cherry dress look even more striking. Choose leopard tights or fishnets for a more attractive and feminine look and a pair of black leggings or tights for a more classical or conservative look. You can also mix and match styles with the choice of your footwear, which brings us to our next tip.
2. PAIR IT WITH BOOTS, DRESSY FLATS OR A NICE PAIR OF HEELS
When it comes to shoes options, feel free to experiment. There is no reason why you shouldn't pair your cherry print dress with sneakers or combat boots if you feel like it. However, if you want to keep onto those vintage vibes that a cherry print dress usually implies, then you should choose something dressier and more chic. Personally, I like to wear my cherry print dresses with heeled boots or shoes. Dressier flats or a nice pair of driving loafers are a chic choice as well, especially if comfort is a concern.
3. LAYER IT WITH A COZY SWEATER
Why not try styling your cherry dress with a nice cozy knit sweater or a warm turtleneck. That's a great way to style a dress for sweater weather. Don't be afraid to experiment. Try oversize sweaters but also cropped ones. If you're still cold when you put on your sweater, then just add more layers. That brings us to our next tip.
Another easy way to style a cherry print dress for autumn is to throw a blazer over it. You can wear it with blazers of different colours. I usually pair my cherry print dresses either with a red or an olive blazer (because those are the colours found in the cherry print dress). Sometimes I like to opt for a black blazer, though. Dark clothing items can look very classical and help you tone down a vibrant print. A blazer will make any dress look more professional. Nothing makes an outfit look more put together than a nice blazer.
5. WEAR A WARM PARKA OR COAT OVER IT FOR MAXIMAL WARMTH
Finally, if you want to make sure you're stay warm, wear your dress with a warm parka or coat. Never feel like you have to sacrifice your style for your comfort. There is always a way to have both. There are many outwear options nowadays that are comfortable, stylish and warm. So, just pick one!
HOW TO KEEP ONTO THOSE SUMMER VIBES? WEAR SUMMER CLOTHES!
Seriously, one of the best ways to keep onto those summer vibes is to wear summer clothes. Keep that vacation spirit with you. A summer dress paired with autumn items can make you look like you just came back from your vacation. If you're already dreaming about your next vacation or would like to start planning your next one, don't worry. This blog is always fun of beautiful Croatian destinations and travelling suggestions. Shopping and travelling locally is another great way to be more sustainable. Bellow are a few more photographs from beautiful Vrboska village on island Hvar. I won't go into details because I've already blogged about Vrboska a number of times, so not to repeat myself here are links to my previous posts about this charming village here, here, here, here and here (feel free to check those old posts of mine) to find out more about this beautiful place.
THE BEAUTIFUL SIMPLICITY OF CHERRY PRINT DRESS
Some shy away from printed dresses, but you can actually wear many prints as neutrals, especially more traditional prints such as polka dots, floral and even cherry print. A printed dress is a great essential. Cherry print has this vintage nostalgia to it that I really like. It's sweet and feminine. A dress like this one really doesn't need much? It is easy to dress up and down. As I already said once or twice on this blog, sometimes I want to take it be easy. Sometimes I do want to get ready in five minutes. When I feel like that, I tend to simply grab my favourite cherry print dress, because sometimes you need to rely on your classics. Why not? As I said once, fashion isn't just about trying new things all the time, it's about finding joy in putting an outfit together! Fashion is also about wearing things you like and cherishing your favourite clothing items. Fashion can be about shopping one's closet and sustaibility. It can be what you want it to be. That's the whole point of having a personal style. Finding what works for you, what makes you happy and confident.

DeleteSame as you, I love Autumn, but I also love my Summer dresses, which this year I certainly haven't made the most of. There are quite a few of them I haven't even worn once! That said, even if I'm looking forward to my Autumn/Winter wardrobe, I want to put off wearing my warmer things for as long as possible, as I don't want to get bored with it too soon! So, I too have been layering some of my Summer dresses. I love wearing opaques and a long-sleeved t-shirt in a similar colour under a short-sleeved dress! As for cherry print dress, it's just perfect for continued wear in Autumn, as its colours and print are very versatile, and even have a certain Autumnal vibe! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you. You're right. If we pull our warm items right away we might get bored with them. Plus, when weather is unpredictable it is better to layer our outfits.
DeleteLovely dress, Ivana, and so many good ways to wear it. Like Ann, I swap my spring/summer wardrobe over to fall/winter, and many of my spring/summer dresses are put away, but until I do that, I'm also layering with tights, thin tops, and cardis/blazers over my summer clothes.
ReplyDeleteMany of my more summer times, however, will be put away - I can't wear silk palazzo pants in winter, brrr!
Have a wonderful weekend, my dear!
Yes, some things need to be put away when winter arrives or the colder days of autumn. That is why transitional weather is fun. We get to mix and match.
DeleteIt's so wonderful that you make your closet work so hard Ivana!! I love how you've worn this so many ways into the cooler months.

DeleteI love this dress. I own a similar one which (gasp!) I once wore out in public. You wear it better. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know what they say- practice makes perfect. Perhaps you should wear it more often.
DeleteThis cherry print dress is so cute and feminine! The pattern is great and the black color on the sides makes it slim. (What you don't even need).

Thank you Nadine. I like the dark colour on the sides too.
