A GOLDEN GOWN (WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT)

 What to wear to a summer wedding? Today I'll share with you what I wore to a wedding that took place two days ago. I opted for a long gold dress I got as a part of a collaboration back in 2019 (original post HERE). I think items with sequins and metallic glitter are a fantastic choice because they are always such a glamorous option. I felt a bit like mermaid, especially during the catering event that was at the beach in Podstrana (that took place before the actual wedding). The wedding ceremony and the celebration that followed took place in Split city. 

Before opting for this dress, I asked some friends for their opinion on whether the dress was a bit too much. They all said it was fine. Seeing that the bride opted for an elaborative wedding dress, I don't think I was overdressed. In fact, I think it was the perfect dress for the occasion. When it comes to Croatian weddings it is better to overdress than to risk being underdressed. I think in that sense, our weddings are similar to those in Italy, Spain or other Mediterranean countries. You're definitely expected to dress up and wear something formal for an event such as a wedding. 

 What do you guys think? The dress proved more comfortable than I expected. I paired it with a pair of golden sandals. I can't remember where I got them from. I also wore a gold bag (also from some collaboration). My niece (six years old) has set her eyes on this gold bag of mine. I did my own hair and make up. I kept things  simple.



This wedding took place close to our wedding anniversary, just a day after, so I couldn't help  remembering  our  own  wedding ceremony. We did celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary in style, I'll show you how some other time.

    Beautiful gold! Such a great dress. Lovely glam! So interesting to know how the weddings and cultural standards are too. The last wedding I attended was one of the best. Even if it was more of a pot luck. Still the wedding was in a park, it was very festive. And the music was fun.

    I think this dress is perfect for a wedding. While black dresses are very popular I always think that a colourful one is more appropriate as it looks like a happy event. While it makes a statement it is simple and so it will not outshine the bride. I love it!!!!

SPRING IN SPLIT : 3 OUTFITS, ONE WORN FOR AN ART EXHIBITION

Hello! Spring break is officially over for me. Today was my second day back at work and I'm exhausted. The first day was fun, we've all happy to see one another again and all that, but the second day tired me out. The end of the week is far away, too. It takes time to get used to working from 7 to 5 again.  I divided my Spring break between my favourite three places and two countries:  island Hvar & Split (in Croatia) and Mostar (in Bosnia and Herzegovina). I visited an art exhibition and that was fun, too. The art exhibition was by Croatian illustrator Filip Čulić. The exhibition included his illustrations and comic book art. It's open until the end of April, so if you're in Split, check it out (more information here ). I love Split's city library. They always organize fun stuff. WELCOMING SPRING WITH 15 IDEAS TO COMBAT SPRING FATIGUE!

 Welcome Spring! We welcome thy beauty! We also fear thy evil twin- The Spring Fatigue. Like in a telenovela, one rarely comes without the other. Both are inevitable, so let's just welcome the first and try to manage the other until it perishes (in a slow motion) in a fatal car accident. That's what always happened in the Latin soap operas (i.e telenovelas) that were all the rave when I was a kid (and that are the reason why many Croatian people have a pretty good passive understanding of Spanish without even learning it in school, but I digress).  My point is that the beautiful Spring often comes accompanied with Spring Fatigue that can range from mild tiredness to extreme exhaustion. Let there be colour! (outfit post) / Neka bude boja (odjevna kombinacija)

It was over 40 degrees Celsius (that's over 100 Fahrenheit) when these photographs were taken. Seriously! I'm obviously a desert type when I'm able to enjoy being out at midday in a city that is practically an oven. If you did not know Mostar city is surrounded by mountains and hills which pretty much turns it into an urban oven. Yes, this city is a champion of unbelievably high temperatures during the Summer. So, this hat was as much a necessity as a fashion statement. Wearing a hat when temperature is over 100 Fahrenheit is a sound idea, believe me. Speaking of Fahrenheits,  have you read  Fahrenheit 451  by Ray Bradbury? You should, you know, it really is a brilliant dystopian novel. I find it uncanny how much some writers were able to guess the future, down to minute details. Painting of the day (A Lioness) / Slika dana (Lavica)

When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was walk to the kitchen. Naturally, I was there to make coffee (can’t start a day without it) but while I was at it, I decided to also make a nice cup of warm chocolate. I figured that one can’t have too many warm drinks when the weather is misbehaving. Plus, I wanted something to drink right away, and because preparing coffee my style takes a while (wouldn’t be caught dead drinking instant coffee;)) I opted for warm chocolate first and it was nice but I have to remember to make my own instant coffee again, I’m sure that stuff they sell in shops are full of all kinds of unhealthy stuff. Speaking of health, I have had a cold for a week now, my throat is still sore and my vocal cords are in pitiful state.  I'm not a big fan of my voice right now, but most people seem to like it. Sunny summer days in Mostar city. Simple pleasures in life. The smell of pine trees in the air. (They have a special scent during the Summer. Have you ever noticed that?) Strolling around the city with my significant other.  A cup of coffee enjoyed in good company. Simply daily rituals that can be so meaningful. Admiring street air. Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here .
