STYLING A SUMMER DRESS WITH JEANS
Hello dear readers and fellow bloggers! How's life treating you? Today I'll share a casual outfit with you. Something perfect for those late summer evenings when it's still warm but not as warm as it was a bit earlier in the summer. In other words, for those times you want some layers. Wearing a dress with jeans is something I always enjoyed doing. Mixing something as practical as jeans with other clothing items is a great way to dress those items down. Is there anything more basic than jeans? Is there anything better for summer than a dress? So, why not mix the two together? Layering dresses in the summer is a topic I already blogged about in the past (read about it here , here and here), so I won't go into depth. Let's just say that I have a great collection of summer outfits that incorporate differerent ways of layering a summer dress.
I prefer dresses to jeans most of the time. However, the idea of joining the two was always attractive to me. Maybe because mixing styles is so much fun. So, that is what I did here. It occured to me that this kind of look would be perfect for transitioning into Autumn. You just throw a jacket of some kind over it and you've got yourself the perfect Autumn styling. If you want to see more ideas for wearing summer dresses with jeans, you can do so here , here and here. Now, that I think of it, I wear my dresses with jeans pretty often. However, this is probably the first time I paired this particular dress with this pair of jeans. I like the combo so much that I plan to try it with white jeans as well. What do you think?
THE LOCATION AND THE OCASSION
The location for these photographs is University campus in Mostar. The ocassion was a stroll around Mostar city. Walking is healthy and all that, so we try to go for a walk whenver we can. Speaking of that, I have my husband to thank for these lovely photographs.
THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT
When it comes to jeans, I prefer flares. This pair has been with me for years and it's so comfortable. I decided to pair it with a red printed summer dress that I had for ages as well. I thought the contrast of red and blue would work quite well. This dress makes me think of seventies for some reason. It's from a small Croatian brand Moda and I love it to bits. The pointy boots are something I always love to wear with flares. Ankle boots are perfect for transitioning weather, aren't they? The bag has that boho feel I felt matches the boots and the dress quite well. All in all, I was happy with this look.
HOW I WORE IT BEFORE? To promote and inspire fashion sustainbility, I like to link up my old looks and show different ways I wore some item.
THE BAG- (Borsa)- Is it possible this is my first wear? I think it is. I bought this bag just before New Year but I only got around wearing it now. I'm not a bag lady (more a shoe lady), but my collection of bags is growing. I like the boho feeling to this one. I actually bought two of them and gifted one to my sister-in-law.

I remember the dress over jeans trend from when I was younger - and it is definitely coming around again! it's a fun way to wear a dress in cooler weather :)
ReplyDeleteHope your week is off to a great start :)
Away From The Blue
This is a good idea. I haven't styled my dress with pants.

I love this layered look! You look fab:)
ReplyDeleteHello dear Ivana, I hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteI am here trying to fix my residence permits, quite boring and with many difficulties, I know you will understand me since we talked about that one day.
Now talking about the post it always feels nice to read your words and leave your blog with a motivated spirit. Your combinations are funny, creative and functional for the daily life. Here's we still having really high temperatures, but an option like this could ideal for the first days of October when you feel a little chill at certain hours.
As you well said the combination of red + blue is perfect, one of those tricks that always look good! On the other side the flare jeans are my favorite, these have a bit of 70s vibes!
And the location you picked to shoot these photos are amazing, you should go again to Mostar University to shoot more photos :)

Sei sempre super carina e stilosa!
Baci!

I think this works wonderfully Ivana. I have a couple of times I've tried jeans under a dress. And usually I think it's fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of times I've tried it and it didn't turn out how I intended, but that's life, right?

That dress is super-cute layered over your flares! The bottom half being a separate colour/pattern really works with pants. Love this! I have done dress + pants a few times over the years, but it's tricky to get the proportions right - you've done it perfectly here!
ReplyDeleteDearest Ivana,
ReplyDeleteI always think dress-over-pants is a good idea. You have created a great boho look and also shopped in your closet - thumbs up!
All the best

So nice. Yes, I enjoy jeans with my long tunics. If not that I move to legging in the winter. Usually, black because well..it seems my director dictates my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLove the flares with the boots. Such a cool dress too!
Love the combination of this. I guess the first time I did this was with tan pants and a dress. I was in school then and got lots of odd looks, but I didn't care. I had seen it in TEEN magazine at the time. Very cool outfit! You wear it so well!
ReplyDeleteMi piace indossare mini abiti sui jeans, bellissimo il tuo look!

I also prefer dresses to jeans during the summertime. This styling idea is such a fun way to combine both. I don't like short dresses but I would totally wear them as a tunic over jeans or pants.
ReplyDeleteFantastic marriage of pants and a dress. The proportions and colours here work sooo well together.

I absolutely love how you styled that dress over flared jeans! It's very tricky to get it right, but you did it splendidly and your lovely figure can certainly carry it off! xxx
