WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY WHEN YOU CAN

Everyday is an opportunity to play dress up. Even if we're only getting dressed up for yourselves. In fact, especially then- if you're dressing for yourselves. If you think about it, your free time is the perfect time to play dress up. Too many people wear shabby clothes when they're around their house or when they go out for a walk. Don't wait for a big occasion, wear that pretty dress you have today- or whatever item in your outfit that you are saving for the right occasion. Life is an occasion enough.  An occasion to be grateful and to be joyful. Embrace life and joy that it can bring. Wear clothes that make you happy when you can. Obviously, we cannot always wear what we want, sometimes we need to be practical or dress for work. However, only too often do we forget to dress up when we can.  People speak about being comfortable, but isn't a fabulous outfit often just as if not more comfortable than the same old 'around the house' look? Why not wear a pretty dress when you go hiking? Why not wear something fun when all you're doing is getting some air (nobody seems to go out these days for any other reason anyway)? Why not dress up when you're at home? Use clothes as a therapeutic tool, as an outlet for your creativity or a fabulous armour that helps you take on the world. Don't be afraid to experiment and have fun with clothes. That's what they're for. That's my message of the day. Wear what you want, when you can. You may not always have the chance.
THE STORY OF THIS OUTFIT
I wore this outfit for a short stroll by the sea. The reason why there isn't anyone around is not just coronavirus. This island isn't densely populated so it is not uncommon to have empty spaces all to yourselves. We often don't see a soul when we go on our daily walks. I lost the habit of daily walks for a while because work was well , let's just say that working from home it took some getting used to, but now that I'm more settled in my routine, I'm trying to go for a quick walk at least once in a day. This outfit took only minutes to put together, but I loved the outcome. I like the contrast between this A line square neck dress and the biker jacket and boots. Knotting my pale blue shirt was a last minute touch, but I feel it added something to this look. Lately, the colours of my outfits have been more neutral. This outfit for example is mostly black with burgundy touches in the form of the faux leather jacket and the bag, but then there is a bit of pale blue with the shirt. It was a comfortable outfit to wear. Most importantly, I felt good wearing it. I'm excited for spring fashion, I have to say. The arrival of spring has been bittersweet, but we have to make the most of things, I reckon.

  1. I love this post so much, I'm going to link to it today! I agree with everything you've said here, Ivana - we have to not waste our days in horrible ugly clothes, and stop saving our clothes "for good".

You look amazing and funky cool in this outfit! That's a lovely swooshy skirt, and I like the touches of burgundy. You were totally right - good instinct - on that blue shirt. It contrasts well with the burgundy.

You look adorable in your braids! Wishing you a happy week - I'm glad your working at home is settling into enough of a routine to allow you to go out for walks. It's so good for our mental health!

    2. Hi, I found you through Sheila and I just want to add my two cents.. yes you are totally right. I dress up every day at home, often even with high heels. My neighbours (when they see me in the street) are amused and baffled haha.

  3. That's a cute dress and I like how you layered it! Beautiful spot for photos too :)

I struggle with wanting to wear nice clothes but also spending all day at home with the often messy kids mean I've been wearing a lot of pyjamas and loungewear, haha!

Hope that you are having a good week :)

  5. My blog description has been "A day without dressing up is a day wasted" since 2009 so I couldn't agree more. I don't own scruffy or ordinary clothes, everything is chosen carefully and worn with sheer joy. Its all about self-respect, isn't it? Adorning your body with love and care is as important and eating well, being kind and exercising.
Love the swishy skirt and your hair in plaits - I've worn mine the same way this week! xxx

  6. Hey dear Ivana! Hope you're having a good week despite all the weird situation. I wanted to thank you for commenting on my blog (as usual reading those comments put a smile on my face) and for asking.... I'm doing good, safe and sound over here and I hope you too!

I see that you're keeping very creative with your posts, I totally feel identified with you, to dress up is an experience and to create an outfit is more than just picking a garment... well, at least for me :) Actually many people is afraid to play with clothes, but in the end we are to play and to experiment, and maybe we can use this quarantine to risk with those OOTDs we were dreaming of..... today I decided to risk with something I wanted to wear, just to go to the kitchen and to the balcony, but that's more than enough right? haha

I love your outfit proposal, a layering that is light and very subtle! And you added a nice touch by combing your hair like that!

    Stay safe and creative!

Pusa velika

  8. That is a lovely spring look! With everything going on in the world right now, we all just need to do what makes us happy and that includes wearing what we want. There's no point in saving things because who know what tomorrow might bring at this point. Even though I work from home I always change out of my house clothes into another outfit because it just changes my mindset and makes me more productive. Lately I've been feeling like wearing dresses so I've been doing exactly that.

  9. I really like your outfit. This quarantine I've been dressing up every day, convinced that staying in pjs all day will only contribute to depression. Thank you for sharing!

  10. I couldn't agree more Ivana! I think one should always dress for oneself in the first place, and I've personally experienced that whatever day I've got ahead of me, I feel better, happier and more confident if I love what I'm wearing. I have continued to dress up every day, even if I'm not leaving the house all day, and I am determined to keep on doing so whatever it takes. You're looking gorgeous in your chosen outfit, and the touch of powder blue provided by your shirt is just fabulous with the darker shades of black and burgundy. What's more, it harmonizes perfectly with the moody sky in the seascapes! Marvellous, my friend! xxx

  11. Very cool your post!
Really we are often waiting for the special moment to wear an outfit that we like so much and many times that moment doesn't even arrive.
Putting on clothes that do us good is incredible, even our self-esteem improves.
I loved your outfit and the photos are beautiful.
Thanks for the comment on the blog ♥

  12. I couldn't agree more Ivana. It's so silly that women get SO caught up in the rules, and forget about how making us happy is way more important.

  13. I LOVE this outfit from top to toe- your hair in plaits and the colour of your shirt and dress actually reminds me of my school uniform but in a glorious chic way!
I TOTALLY agree with you about wearing lovely outfits at home! I've been loving wearing pretty outfits and dresses at home- for one thing, because I am not having to a) rush off to school, b) use public transport, c)cycle or walk lots or having the stress of children, I am not having any sweat issues so it's been great not worrying about sweating lots in nice items! (sorry, disgusting to say but true!)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
