Advent in Split/ Advent u Splitu

As far as I'm concerned, Santa can keep all the snow for himself. This is my kind of Advent. Split city soaked in sunshine. Mediterranean Christmas is my kind of Christmas. Sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine....I couldn't be happier about the amount of sunshine we've been having. Now, about the outfit. My foot is still swollen and walking is still quite paintful. Dr. Martens boots  and startas sneakers are the only pairs of shoes that I can wear and I'll probably be wearing them for a while. I've been living in dr.martens boots and startas sneakers for the last ten days. There is no indication that my foot will get better anytime soon, but at least nothing is broken. Things will return to normal sooner or later. In the meantime, life without heels has been strange. I was so used to wearing them all the time, I feel like I have lost my balance. We're all creatures of habit sometimes.

Praktički živim u njima i startasicama.

  5. I'm sorry to hear about your poor foot. I do hope it gets better soon.
I'm the opposite with shoes as I wear my teal doc martens most days and wearing heels is a bit of a shock. In fact, this week I've been mostly wearing knee high boots and having that heel and walking 3miles on it has made a difference.
It is always nice to see sunny Split and dream of sunnier times!!!Xx

I like this weather, too. And your beautiful necklace! It gives your outfit an enormous amount of pep. And I think with your slim figure you can wear Doc Martens boots very well! Nevertheless, I wish your leg a speedy recovery!

  12. Lucky you have the sun. Split looks so beautiful and you look even more beautiful. It's freezing here in SanFrancisco and I have the heater on full blast and of course the skies are grey with no signs of the sun making an appearance. But what happened to your leg? Omg I must have missed that but I sure am glad you're feeling better. Doc Martens is a good substitute until ur 100% again. Feel better babe. Stunning necklace btw.

  15. This city is so beautiful, dear Ivana! I am sorry, I didn't know you had a problem with your foot, hope it gets better soon! I had college exams and Christmas preparation and vacations to prepare - so my time was really terrible, but from the middle of January again it will be OK! I loved your outfit, and you look great in Dr. Martens! I used to wear high heels every day and only that, till some years ago, 2 or 3. Then a friend "introduced me" to flats and now I love them!

Sorry to hear that you are still having problems with your foot, but it's great that you have some flat shoes you can wear while i heals, so you can still get around!

  23. I find myself lingering with envy over the clear sunny skies in your photos here and the clarity of the light. And in spite of your swollen foot, your smile is radiant. Ahhhh, back to peering out at the lowering grey skies and listening to the rain and contemplating whether a damp walk will be worth the amount of mud I'll bring back on my boots. Happy festive season - I prefer your version of the weather!

  29. Dear Ivana, so sorry your foot is still swollen but at least you are obviously able to walk a bit in your Doc Martens shoes. But I understand what you mean with missing heels :) When I started a few months ago more and more flats first my colleagues were sursprised that I'm much more petite as they thought and also for me the sight from the reduced height was much different ... but now I'm more and more used to flats :) You look nevertheless good in your look with the elegant jacket and Split absolutely warm and sunny! Wish you a wonderful last week of Advent and hopefully the Doctors are wrong and your foot will recover very soon.

  31. I'm totally with you and I'll take a sun-filled and warm Christmas over a snowy one any day. We are having a similar weather pattern in NYC this year and the forecast is indicating that it will be one of the warmest ones ever. In fact on Christmas eve, we might be getting summer-like temps. I know that climate change is probably responsible for this and that's bad but I still can't help but look forward to it. That's bad news about your foot but you're doing the right thing by sticking with sneakers and Docs for now. With heels you might just prolong the swelling which is the last thing you need. It's a good thing nothing is broken but be careful and keep it elevated and ice it when you're at home.

KAFKA ON THE SHORE, A NOVEL BY HARUKI MURAKAMI (BOOK REVIEW & OUTFIT PROPOSAL)

Hello, my darlings! I will be sharing two things with you today: a book review and an outfit post. This cozy outfit proposal features two printed items: a printed scarf and a skirt. The bluish scarf was a gift from a friend and I like how it looks with this camel coat (another gifted item). The wool/silk printed skirt is old, a creation from fashion house Edi. You had a change of seeing this unique floral print on the blog here , here and here. Under the camel coat I have worn this white blouse and this red blazer.  I completed the outfit with a red beanie and high brown boots.  It has gotten colder in Croatia even on the shore. Speaking of the shore, Kafka on the Shore is the novel I will be reviewing today.
MURAKAMI, A WRITER THAT REMINDS ME OF A CAT

THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ BY L.FRANK BAUM (BOOK REVIEW)

Today I'll review a true classic of children's literature: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a book by L. Frank Baum. I have read this book fairly recently, so it is still fresh in my mind. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I actually enjoyed it a lot, so my book review is also  a book recommendation.  This classic of children literature is such a well rounded tale. You can read The  Wonderful Wizard of Oz for free on the pages of project Gutenberg here (that's also the source for the quotes I'm going to use).

First, a few words from the author himself:  Folklore, legends, myths and fairy tales have followed childhood through the ages, for every healthy youngster has a wholesome and instinctive love for stories fantastic, marvelous and manifestly unreal. The winged fairies of Grimm and Andersen have brought more happiness to childish hearts than all other human creations.Yet the old time fairy tale, having served for generations, m…

STYLING A PLEATED SKIRT FOR COLD WEATHER + READING UPDATE

Pleated items are very in right now. Every fashionista who likes this material is probably over the moon about that and even those who don't follow trends must be satisfied when a material they like becomes more available. I'm quite happy because I do appreciate the way pleat adds texture to our outfits. This expensive looking trend can be surprisingly affordable, especially if you're good at shopping second hand or just finding good discounts. Pleated items are simply perfectly for creating romantic, elegant and even whimsical outfits.  Pleat can even make old school glam seem easy!
Pleated items come in many shapes and form. I personally have a shirt I adore. However, perhaps the most practical incarnation of the pleated trend (for us ladies that is) would be the pleated skirt. A pleated maxi or midi skirt is such an easy way to add some femininity, texture and chic into your wardrobe. Today I'll show you how to style a beige pleated skirt for cold weather. Now, thi…
