HIKING IN VRBOSKA (PLUS FEBRUARY, MARCH AND APRIL RECAP)

Hello dear readers! How are you? Life has been somewhat stressful lately, so I'm very thankful for every opportunity to go hiking in nature. Often I'm pressed for time, but these walks do always bring a smile on my face. These images have actually been taken back in March, during two hikes in Vrboska (at the other side of the bay, so you can actually see Jelsa in the background). Now, I've blogged about Vrboska a number of times, so not to repeat myself here are links to my previous posts about this charming village here, here, here and here. I don't know about you, but I'm so looking forward to getting some rest this weekend. Truth been told, I'm feeling tired most of the time. Online school is difficult for anyone involved. This is a new and uncharted territory we are all treading here.  There is still so much to do before this school year ends. Lord helps us. 

FEBRUARY, MARCH AND APRIL RECAP
Instead of posting more photographs or preparing collages, I'll just share links to my posts published in February, March and April. I blogged about things I normally blog about, so nothing out of the ordinary. I won't comment much on the two outfits I'm posting today because I covered all of these items a number of times. The first styling is all about simplicity with a red accent in form of a basketball cap. The sun is strong on island Hvar, so I like to wear a baseball cap to protect my face. The second outfit (you'll see it shortly if you continue scrolling) is also a comfy hiking styling featuring a sweater dress and leggings (one of the most comfy combos).  I have worn and written about similar outfits in the past few months, so I don't feel like I have something new or meaningful to add. I also linked up most of these items a number of times, so we'll skip that today.

    Gosh, it is just so beautiful there, Ivana! The water is so clear and I love the rocky beach. You look smashing in that pink sweater dress - the burgundy/purple sweater is a great colour on top of it.

    I'm really craving nature hikes, but there isn't much to visit near my home, and we are not allowed to make non-essential car drives. Instead, I'm living vicariously through your posts about the amazing area you find yourself living in. A lovely round-up of posts, and you are still posting way more than my average of 8 posts a month. Now that I'm only working 2 days a week, I posted 10 in April, which is a personal record!       I can imagine. I'm really blessed to find myself on an island with so many great hikes, a low population and hence a lower risk.

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. So, it's not surprising that I love to mix patterns.  Back to my baby blue & leopard outfit. I wore it for an outing and I really enjoyed it. The best about is that it is sustainable. OIL PASTELS VS. WATERCOLOUR PENCILS (SPLIT, FIRULE BEACH)

If you remember in my last posts I shared a seascape sketch with you. Today I will show you the completed version. I did complete this watercolour pencil sketch the same day I started it. There was also a version I made with oil pastels. In case anyone is wondering, I don't have these two with me anymore. I shipped some of my art to one (amateur) art gallery yesterday. The watercolour landscape I'm sharing with you today was among the paintings sent while the pastel version of this scene was sent to a friend.  Both of them were sketched on a lovely sunny day on Firule beach in Split (it has gotten colder in the meantime). Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . What To See and Do in Hutovo Blato Nature Park in Summer? Exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina's Hidden Gems #1

What you know, Europe still has its fair share of secret spots! Seeing these photographs, you'd think I was somewhere in a tropical jungle of some sorts, but you'd be wrong as these images were taken in Hutovo blato , a nature park and bird reservoir located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is quite close to border with Croatia, so if you're visiting our Adriatic coast, do consider stopping by here as well.  Hutovo Blato is mostly composed of marshlands (wetlands) and it is a stunning natural area to visit. The photographs I'm sharing today were taken a year ago, the last time I visited this bird & nature park during summer. My visits to this nature park have been numerous indeed. The reasons for that is very simple: I really like it there. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. Is it possible that it the last day of Summer today? It doesn't feel like it is, not just because I have a feeling that the high temperatures and the blazing sun have gotten mixed up with every single molecule I'm composed of, but because nothing will change dramatically tomorrow.
