45 WAYS TO STYLE A PLASTIC YELLOW BAG

Hello readers and fellow bloggers! How are you doing? Today I will show you forty- five ways to style a plastic yellow bag. I told you I wear this bag often enough for it to be considered a sustainable piece in my wardrobe. However,  telling is one thing and showing it is another. So, this evening I have spent more than 2 hours behind the screen of my laptop, going through old outfits published on my blog. Guess what? I managed to find 45 outfits with this yellow bag. I'm sure I could find a few more if I continued looking but I think three hours is more than enough time spent putting together a post, don't you? Not that I consider it lost time. Going through my old posts, I revived a lot of memories. Isn't it amazing that I have been blogging since 2012? That's almost a decade of continuous posting. I've had this yellow bag since 2014 so that's quite some time. I'm not sure what is the real number of times I have worn it because I don't document all of my outfits. I can imagine the real number is quite high, if there are more than 45 outfits on my blog. In retrospective, this bag was definitely a successful purchase. It was an affordable piece as well. I have a feeling I will wear it for years to come.

If you remember, I talked about this plastic bag in my last post and why I consider it a sustainable piece. Some people see plastic items as not being sustainable in the context of fashion, but I beg to differ. I think that any item can be sustainable if we wear it a lot. For me sustainability is about shopping one's closet and getting the maximum out of every purchased item. My version of sustainability is all about not being wasteful and appreciating the items I already own. I'm not saying it is the only way to do sustainable fashion. There are many ways to be more ecologically conscious when it comes to clothes, shopping one's closet is just one of them. I'm sure you all know and understand why shopping vintage clothes makes sense in context of sustainable fashion as well as supporting sustainable brands. However, even if you buy something that is not second hand, vintage or produced in a sustainable way, you can still make that item sustainable by wearing it a lot. Some say that 30 wears for item is a number we should strive for. I think it's a good number in general, but I also understand that not all items in our closets are likely to be worn 30 times. There are some exceptions, such as dresses for special occasions that might be worn only a handful of time. Bags are definitely something we shouldn't have issues wearing more than 30 times. Scroll down to see how I styled this yellow bag in 45 ways!

  3. It's such a statement bag so it's impressive you've worn it so many times! :) I'm really lucky I don't take that long to search my blog for my 30 wears posts, haha! I usually am able to search through all the posts quickly as I label everything each time I wear it, phew! :)

So agree with you too, it's better to rewear pieces to be more sustainable!

Hope your week is going well :)

  7. I'm amazed that you've worn this bag at least 45 times on the blog, but then again, it is a gorgeous and very versatile bag! I can imagine the amount of time it must have taken to compile this post. I often scroll through my old blog post just for the trip down memory lane. Blogging continuously for nearly ten years is quite a feat! xxx

  10. Wow, that's really impressive, Ivana! Your yellow bag combines form and function in such a pretty way, I'm not surprised that it's a go-to for you. I have a couple of fabric tote bags that I always carry with me (a green one and a yellow one) - they aren't as stylish as yours! - that I have easily used over 100 times each, whenever I buy something.

I very much agree that "sustainable" can mean many things. Although I am a frequent shopper, I do make sure that my clothes that go out of my closet go to good homes or are donated, and I never buy fast-fashion new.

I love seeing all your pictures and outfits - aside from having bangs/fringe, you really haven't changed that much in your appearance in all that time! Beautiful in every one. :)

    Take care, my dear friend!

  13. I like this bag a lot. Is it a Ted Baker? I have one with flowers and I like it a lot. It's versatile, easy to clean, very sturdy, and looks amazing. I would buy on yellow after seeing how well it works with all your outfits. xx

  15. Sustainable has MANY different interpretations and reusing something many, many times is, I believe, the most important one of the lot. It means no energy or resources are being put in to remake or repurpose- it's just being reused. E.g. When I go to the zerowaste food shop, I bring old plastic chocolate boxes to put things in. It's not the poster girl look for zerowaste which is uniform glass Kilner jars, but it's better to reuse what I have.
I LOVE the ebullient colour of that bag and it seems a good size. It was lovely to see all these outfits in one post with the bag- it is like a catalogue of your style and I saw lots of lovely garments I'd either forgotten you have or hadn't seen, such as the two jumpsuits at the start- LOVE the yellow one!
Funnily enough, I've JUST got a yellow tote as my work colleague gave it to me as a present!
