University campus (my version of a school uniform) / Sveučilišni kampus ( moja verzija školske uniforme)

Just in case you're wondering, the location for these photographs is University campus in Split city (Croatia). The first building (in order of appearance) is University library of Split and the others are  mostly university buildings ( University of Engineering, University of Economics etc). This location was featured previously on my blog a number of times ( for example here ) and  since then, a lot of people inquired about it, that's why I'm taking a moment to reflect on it. I personally like to go for a walk here and not only because it is where I live. One of my favourite writers ( Roger Zelazny) said he likes libraries because it makes him feel safe to be surrounded by walls of knowledge. I share his sentiment. Maybe that is what draws me to this place. There is something comforting about the search for knowledge, at times it even seems more complete to me than search for happiness that is so often elusive. After all, in life we must forever remain students because we are all students of life. My student days are in the past, but I'm still studying, I'm still learning the lessons of life. I still hunger for knowledge, perhaps now more than ever. It is like I have returned to my childhood and became that little girl that adores encyclopedias. There are days when everything seems so fascinating....and I think it is a good thing.

Ukoliko vas slučajno zanima, mjesto snimanja ovih slika je splitski sveučilišni kampus. Prva zgrada koja se vidi je Sveučilišna knjižnica grada Splita, ostalo su većinom zgrade raznih fakulteta ( FESB, Fakultet ekonomije itd). Lokacija je više puta bila na mom blogu (npr. ovdje) i od tada sam dobila puno pitanja o njoj, zato sam i uzela trenutak da se na nju osvrnem. Osobno volim tu prošetati i ne samo zato jer tu živim. Jedan od mojih omiljenih pisaca ( Roger Zelanzy) rekao je da voli knjižnjice jer se osjeća siguran okružen zidovima znanja, a moram reći da i ja dijelim taj osjećaj. Možda me to privlači ovom mjestu.  Nešto je utješno u potrazi za znanjem, ponekad čak čini mi se potpunijim od potrage za srećom koja često zna biti teško uhvatljiva. Na kraju krajeva, u životu moramo uvijek ostati učenici jer smo mi svi učenici života. Moji dani studentice su prošli, ali još uvijek studiram, još uvijek učim lekcije života. Još uvijek osjećam glad za znjanjem, možda sada više nego ikad. Kao da sam se vratila u djetinstvo i postala opet ona djevojčica koja obožava enciklopedije. Ima dana kada mi se sve čini tako zanimljivo....a mislim da je dobra stvar.

    I love what you said in the first paragraph hun, we all really are students of life! Your photos really take me back too, my university campus looked very similar and honestly being a uni student was one of the best experiences of my life! I do miss the good old days, it was fun learning and not worrying about having to support yourself in a daily life haha.     Dear Ivana, I must say I really like the campus of the university in Split - it looks so well arranged, tidy and clear there!     Prekrasno okruženje :) Je li i menza tu negdje? Sjetila sam se da smo u osnovnoj kada smo išli na Hvar na maturalac u Splitu stali na ručak koji je bio dogovoren u studentskoj menzi.
    Isto kao i ti uvijek volim učiti, nove stvari me uvijek zanimaju i super mi je kada nešto novo saznam/naučim. Najrađe bih studirala cijeli život i većinu fakseva prošla :D

      da, ima velika menza na ekonomiji, a ima i na medicini koja je u blizini...ja razmišljam o tome da upišem drugi faks, ali nisam sigurna koliko mi je to pametno jer ako mi diploma iz dva jezika nije otvorila vrata neće ni još jedna.

    "Uniformica" je jako zgodna... carapice i ovakav tip cipela su mi prepreprepredobre i izgledaju mi super na suknju. Ipak, sama se jos nisam okurazila jer nisam nasla fini par carapica pa okljevam... hm, ili mozda ne zelim razvod :D

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be!
