TRAVEL WITH MY ART #21: STARI GRAD, ISLAND HVAR

Hello dear readers! How are you doing? Today it's time for another TRAVEL WITH MY ART post and that means I'll share a new acrylic panting with you. Like most of my art in this series, this painting is a seascape. You guys know that sea is one of main sources of inspiration for me. Moreover, island Hvar is often a subject of my paintings. This one is no exception. This painting was inspired by photographs taken last April near hotel Arkada, Stari Grad city (island Hvar). Like the last painting in my series, this acrylic painting was done on mixed media paper in  A4 format is. Therefore, it's neither a large painting nor a very detailed one. I wanted to make a pretty seascape and that's it.  I worked on it for two days for a couple of hours. It was done at the same time (almost simultaneously as the last painting I shared. Like with the last seascape, I was trying to paint this one faster that I usually do my seascapes. Basically, the aim was to capture the sea quickly but still have some details present. As I said, it can feel good to make a simpler and quicker painting. Sure, the result is not as impressive as with those 'time and labour intense' paintings, but simple seascapes have a certain charm to them as well. Again, the art supplies (professional acrylic paints and mixed media paper) used to make this painting are both by Royal Talens brand (not a collaboration, just happens to be the brand I'm using). I LOVE PAINTING SEASCAPES! The Adriatic sea is always so beautiful, but without a doubt island Hvar is my favourite corner on the Adriatic coast. I enjoyed painting this seaside. It took me a while to find the reference photograph I used for this painting because I forgot to label it. However, while browsing these photographs taken near Arkada bay in Stari Grad, I realized there are still some lovely photographs I haven't shared yet. Isn't Stari Grad bay absolutely amazing?       Absolutely! The Adriatic (and the Mediterranean) sea usually has smaller waves, unlike those big ones one sees in the oceans.

    I adore to travel with your art, certaintly it is a really interesting connection because I can see a bit of the real place (which I'd love to visit!) and then a bit of your art and the way you interpreted it!

    This time you nailed it once again :) I know your main inspiration behind your work right now is the sea and nature, the way water connects with the land! This is one of my favorite, despite the simplicity it has a really interesting attraction and I can see your style in the way you caught the details and the shape of the waves, etc.

    Talking about the outfit I really adore these maxi sleeves! They feel so dramatic and impressive, just like the way the water moves!

    Another fantastic seascape, Ivana! The white dots perfectly capture how the sunlight glints on the water, and I can feel the lap of the waves and know exactly how choppy the water is. Love it!

In this post, I'll review " Forgiveness Day" , a science fiction novella that is a part of the Hainish Circle. Published in 1995, "Forgiveness Day " won multiple awards. This novella is often published together with her other novellas from the Hainish Circle, and it can be find in various editions of Four Ways to Forgiveness and Five Ways to Forgiveness.   Thematically, this novella is a part of five stories featuring two Hainish planets, but it can definitely be read on its own. I think it functions well as a stand alone novella. I listened to it in audio form, and I didn't have any problems following the story.  The world building is simple and effective.
