BEAUTIFUL BEACHES NEAR ARKADA HOTEL STARI GRAD

Some time last month, we decided to pay Arkada hotel in Stari grad (on island) Hvar a visit. Arkada hotel is quite visible from the spot where the ferry docks, being right across the bay.  Every time I would wait for the ferry I could see this white hotel standing out against the green pine forest that surrounds it. This white hotel always looked kind of ethereal to me. So, naturally I was always curious to see it. Since I'm based on island Hvar, I decided to pop by for a quick view. Obviously, the hotel Arkada isn't open right now. It might be open during the summer season but nothing is certain with this coronavirus thing. I'm not sure is it normally open this time of year either. At any rate, it wouldn't have been open with this virus thing. We stopped for a quick view and then explored the bays and beaches near the hotel. As I already told you, I'm taking this mission to show you the most beautiful bays on island Hvar very seriously. There are several lovely bays and beaches near Arkada hotel. They are only a short walk from the hotel. Moreover, the beach that belongs to the hotel is beautiful as well. There is enough of natural shade and I imagine that the sea breeze makes it very comfortable during the summer.
Arkada hotel was build in the sixties on a beautiful location. The hotel is only a short distance from  the centre of Stari Grad city but at the same time the beach and the area around it feel very private. Hotel Arkada has a lovely sixty retro feel to it, but from what I have seen,  it is in a need of a fresh coat of paint. That would be my observation about this hotel in short: a great location, a  charming retro architecture, a fantastic hotel beach, lovely surroundings but the hotel itself needs a coat of fresh white paint. This whole area is wonderful. After we had a good look at the hotel and its surroundings, we ventured further away in search of new bays and beaches to see. We found many lovely ones. I wasn't able to track their names, but they are only a short walk away from the hotel Arkada. I'm happy that we visited it and discovered the beaches and bays around it as well.

BEAUTIFUL BAYS NEAR HOTEL ARKADA & LINKS TO POSTS ABOUT STARI GRAD ON ISLAND HVAR
There are several lovely bays near the hotel. It was quite sunny when we visited back in April and I was tempted to dive in. I imagine that swimming here in the summer must feel divine. As you might now, Hvar is known as the sunny island. It is certainly true to its name. However, we had quite a few windy days this May. I think it is because we enjoyed such a warm winter. They say that if winter is warm, then spring holds some fresh days. Well, you cannot have it all. Still, we were blessed with fine weather when we visited these beautiful bays near hotel Arkada. The sun was shining and the sea breeze was just perfect, not too cool and fresh, just ideal to bring some freshness to that warm spring day. THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT: NAVY FLARE SLEEVES AND PANTS PAIRED WITH A RUFFLED FLORAL SHIRT
Nothing is new about this outfit. I bought a few new items back in February and that was all of my shopping for this year. So, this outfit is another example of me shopping my closet. I love the big ruffled flare sleeves on this navy blouse. You can see how I styled this statement sleeve blouse (jacket?) in a chic way previously here. You can see how I styled it casually( here and here). I paired this navy blouse with navy flare pants (not exactly the same shade but close enough, worn previously here and here), a ruffled floral shirt (worn previously here and here), a burgundy bag (worn previously here here hereherehere here and here) and a pair of very comfy beige moccasin flats (worn previously here and here). I don't always manage to find the time to link up all the times I have worn an item, but I try to link up at least two wears for every item. Anyhow, I loved wearing this outfit. It is fun but very comfortable at the same time.

HIKING NEAR ARKADA HOTEL, STARI GRAD
As I said, I really enjoyed our walk near Arkada hotel. Besides discovering some lovely new bays, we also did some hiking there in the woods. What a magical place island Hvar is! I'm sure I could never get tired of it. Well, with that we will wrap this visit to Arkada hotel in Stari Grad and its surroundings. I hope you enjoyed travelling virtually with me. It is the only way to visit new places and another countries for a time being, it seems. How are you dealing with stress in these uncertain times? I'm more of less fine,  but I do feel dreadfully tired most of the time. I'm grateful for every opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy a walk in the nature. I'm sure it can only does us good.

  1. Hey dear Ivana, how you doing? Hope everything is going better little by little :)

I'm always eager to know where are you taking us next in your trip posts, they always share interesting details and exciting things that make me wanna book a plane even if it is impossible right now.

Exploring hotels in the city you're now living sounds like a good experience, maybe I should do the same here in Barcelona since there are many interesting options and you get a different point of view. And it is interesting also that your itinerary started from the hotel entrance, then you can get all the possibilities as if you were a tourist :) By the way the entrance of the hotel is quite picturesque with retro vibes.

All the best and stay safe! Thanks for your support always :)

  4. Your jacket is so fun with the flared sleeves and I like it over the pretty floral print! It's a shame the hotel is closed, it looks quite nice with the views! :) Hopefully thinks will have changed and be open when summer season arrives for you. Here they are planing to reopen most things in July, we are gradually lifting the restrictions.

Hope that you are having a good weekend :) Since some of the restrictions have been relaxed in Brisbane we were able to enjoy a picnic yesterda! With social distancing of course, it was so nice to enjoy some time in the park.

  5. Dear Ivana, I agree, the hotel really needs a fresh colour coat but the architecture seems to be cool and retro and the place where it is is obviously absolutely fantastic. Thanks for sharing! Also the surroundings of the hotel are beautiful and I can see that you enjoyed your hike there absolutely.
I like also your outfit. This navy blouse/jacket with the ruffled sleeves is for sure a beauty and you are at usual very creative to style it in versatile ways.
Hopefully you are well and safe!

  8. What an interesting tour! I must admit that I'm not a fan of 1960s Brutalist architecture but there's something rather imposing about that hotel. I bet they're reluctant to spend money refurbishing it in these current times of uncertainty, the hospitality business has been hit particularly hard and I wonder how many hotels will survive the crisis?
On a brighter note I'm lovi ng the sleeves on your top! xxx

    1. Most hotels in Croatia are owned by (foreign) large chains so it is more the small business owners and local people that I worry about. Large hotel chains won't be jeopardized by a single season, but small hotel owners might be in serious problems. There is something odd about this one, though. My mother told me there is some kind of legal dispute going on so that might be why it is neglected. Even with this epidemic, it doesn't make sense for it to miss a coat of paint. It should have been there from last summer.

  9. I never mind a hotel with slightly shabby paint - all I need is a clean room and nice staff, and I'm happy. I love the retro look of this one.

Oh, my dear Ivana, look at those sleeves! They are full-on ABBA! How wonderful! Your long legs were meant for flares - fabulous.

I always love your pictures. That's my kind of travel!

  11. Arkada hotel looks like it is well situated for vacation goers with Stari Grad city and the beach and bays easily accessible. That's always a consideration for me when choosing accommodations. And this is another lovely outfit! Your jacket is my favorite component. The piping and flared sleeves are such fun and feminine details. I've been walking outside everyday on my balcony and a few times a week in the garden downstairs. I would love to go down by the water but I have concerns there would be too many people and some people in NYC are totally ignoring the mandate to wear masks and social distance.

    1. It is not good that people are ignoring it, especially in a town as big as NYC. You would think people there would be first to take strict measurements because of the dense population.
