Painting of the day (choker necklace) / Slika dana (ogrlica uz vrat)

EN Accessories are important. Do you agree? What are your favourite accessories? How do you feel about the choker necklace trend? Do you think it will soon end or will it stay for a while more? Or perhaps evolve into something else? Sometimes fashion is less about drastic changes and more about one clothing item evolving into something else. Why do we have trends at all? Probably to bring in a bit of change in our life. Sometimes I wonder whether it is really our need for a change (i.e. for spicing things up) or is just our nature to reflect change that is always present in the world?

Trends are by no means limited to fashion. There are furniture trends, literary trends, music trends,  photography trends etc. Sometimes it is quite easy to connect these trends with certain historical or political events, but sometimes things are a bit more complex. Moreover, once in a while there is something wonderfully mysterious and refreshing about trends. At times it is really about some individual coming up with something creative and wonderful. Today fashion is more global. In one way it is fantastic because we have this feeling of connection. However, the downside is that many original ideas are suppressed by globalization. This is a fascinating subject for sure. Perhaps I'll write more about it in future.

Anyhow, most trends don't simply disappear, rather they change gradually. For example, last year it was all about flare sleeves and this year it is all about 'sleeves' drama. Sleeves with ruffles, asymmetrical sleeves, sleeves with different kind of flares- those that are a cut out. Different interpretations of 'sleeve drama'. I will probably wait until the Spring (or until it gets warmer) to explore 'sleeve' interpretations ,because  it's rather cold and I don't really take my jacket off when I go outside (at times I even keep in on in doors). Perhaps I don't need to wait for Spring. I should be able to figure out how to wear this trend even in Winter.

Ages ago (read high school), I used to make and design a lot of jewellery. Choker necklaces were a big part of my creations. They weren't as popular then as when I was in middle school, but I suppose I still liked them. In fact, I think I've always liked them. I remember when they became first popular. I preferred to layer them one on another back then- that was fun. You know seeing all those choker necklaces around  definitely brought some nineties nostalgia. Still, I don't wear choker necklaces that much. Perhaps because I see them everywhere and when you see too much of something....During the winter, I must admit that I'm more focused on winter accessories of the practical kind, like scarves and caps. However, Spring will be here before we know it, so we might as well prepare for it.

Prije sto godina ( čitaj u srednjoj školi), običavala sam praviti i dizajnirati puno nakita. No, ne nosim ih baš često.

  6. Chokers were my favorites when O was in college:)
They glam up mostly your casual look when paired appropriately. But I guess they can go well with most kinds of outfits.

I agree, Ivana! It is hard to flaunt your necklaces when it's so so cold outside. But I still go for the minimal ones :)
    I love your today's write-up.

Predivno si sve spojila i zaista me oduševi kad spojiš različite ideje u jendo.

TWO WAYS TO STYLE A SCARF (SUSTAINABLE FASHION FILES)

Today I'll show you two ways to style a scarf: one is by wrapping it around your headband and the other by using it as a belt for your dress.  I'm also going to link up old posts with more ideas for styling this scarf, offering you about a dozen ideas. The first idea is a common one. Wearing a belt around your dress is an easy way to accentuate your waist. The other outfit proposal shows a fresh styling trick: wearing your scarf wrapped around your headband. Yes, you read that right. This is actually such an easy way to make the most out of your headband(s). I own only one headband but by wrapping different scarves around it, it seems like I have a dozen of them.  As for the two outfits I'm going to show to you, they are both summer ones. The colour palette for these looks is pretty neutral, but I jazzed it up by choosing printed white items. I do like the freshness that the white colour offers, but as a lover of prints I tend to compromise by opting for printed white ite…

FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: ILLUSTRATED TOTE BAGS REDBUBBLE

I don't know what it is about the combination of tote bags and fashion illustrations that I like so much. Maybe it is simply a matter of combining two things that I love. I adore tote bags for their practicality, I like to carry one with me (often tucked in my regular bag) at all times because you never know. We all know that the typical disposable plastic grocery bags are a huge no-no for the environment, so a tote bag is a must (even if just for grocery shopping).  I personally like to wear tote bags even on occasions that have nothing to do with grocery lists, but to each his own. As for fashion illustration, well I don't have to explain that. I have literally loved fashion illustration for as long as I can remember. Joining my creative skills with tote bags seemed logical! Some of you might remember that I even hand painted some vintage tote bags. In fact, you had the chance of seeing one of those tote bags recently here. As much as I enjoy using textile prints, I also li…

SUMMER TO AUTUMN OUTFITS FEATURING A VINTAGE BLACK MAXI DRESS

Today I'll show you seven ways  to wear a black maxi dress. This beautiful vintage dress was gifted to me by a family member. I don't own many solid black maxi dresses (probably because I'm addicted to bold prints and colours). I do own quite a few little black dress (because a LBD is such a classical piece) but not that many black ones in maxi length. In fact, I believe this is the only plain black maxi dress I own. I find it really easy to style. I treat this maxi as a neutral piece and I wear it all year round. I actually added embroidery to it (it's a hobby of mine) but the embroidery detail isn't that big (for now) so I tend to style it as a plain black dress. By that I mean that I like to have fun with accessories when I wear this dress. I often wear it with statement necklaces I made myself or similar eye-catching accessories. Anyhow, I figured that with the summer to autumn transitioning that is going on right now, it would make sense to show you some tran…
