HOW TO WRAP A PAINTING THE SUSTAINABLE WAY?

One of my paintings has found a new home and a lovely home and that! People often ask me does it makes me sad to part with my paintings and the answer is: not really. Most of the time I'm happy to see my paintings go.  This is especially the case when I know they will bring joy to their new owner. As an artist, I'm happy when people enjoy my art and when they find meaning in it. That's the point of art, isn't it?

I think you won't be surprised to learn that I enjoy wrapping my paintings. Most of the time, I do it myself. I think it adds that special something to a gifted painting.  A customized packaging always adds a personal note to any present. I love to recycle materials when I'm packaging my art. Recycling is always the best way to be sustainable. Never throw away recycling paper! I always try to be as sustainable as I can. I think I did a pretty good job wrapping this painting. I used some old crepe papers, a cord and dried flowers I had at home (recycled from this bouquet). What do you guys think?

Uglavnom sam sretna kad vidim kako moje slike odlaze u novi dom.

Većinu vremena to radim sama. Mislim da to dodaje nešto posebno darovnoj slici. Posebno pakiranje uvijek dodaje osobnu notu svakom poklonu. Volim reciklirati materijale kada upakiravam svoje umjetnine i slike.

You can have a look and see what painting I wrapped and gifted. It's the 23rd painting in my 'TRAVEL WITH MY ART' series and it depicted a detail from Makarska town. In this acrylic painting, two  fishing boats are facing one another, with a lovely sea panorama behind them. Our friends were really happy to receive it and I think they liked the way I wrapped this painting as well.

Možete baciti oko i vidjeti koju sam sliku poklonila i upakirala.

You can use dried flowers or leaves to add that special something.  Recycle your old bouquets, seasonal decorations or floral arrangements. You can opt for cellophane if you want the painting to be visible.  Moreover, you can just tie some kind of cord over it.  Keeping it simple is also an option.

YOU CAN ALSO KEEP IT SIMPLE WHEN IT COMES TO WRAPPING PRESENTS!

  12. It's nice that you try to wrap your paintings sustainably. I also know what you mean about not being sad to see your art go to a new home. I used to paint some years ago and I was always really happy when someone wanted one of my pieces.

  13. That is such a lovely personal touch, Ivana. You could also use thrifted silk scarves - I see ones that are in rough shape for $1.00 each sometimes that would work well.

  15. What a wonderful post, Ivana!! That wrapping is so cute:) I can imagine that painting traveled to the new home. I also have many ribbons wrapped when I bought something, and they are in a beautiful box. However, it took for me a long time to wrap for a gift, so your tutorial is really motivating!!!

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism.
