Hello! How are you doing? Thank God, I'm feeling better today. Thank you all for your good vibes and kind wishes. Today I'm back with plus fifty ways to wear a pair of Mary Jane heels. There's just a touch of platform to this pair, making the high heel easier to wear. Moreover, the heel itself is a thick one, making this pair quite durable. These are probably the most comfortable heels in my closet. They are extremely versatile and look good with everything. I often wear them with dresses and skirts, but they look great paired with trousers as well. If I ever come across a pair like this one again, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I DO OWN MANY PEKO SHOES
This pair is from Peko (A Croatian-Slovenian shoe brand) and that's where I buy most of my shoes. I don't collaborate with them in any way (nor is this post sponsored), I just like their designs and quality. Other Croatian shoe brand I shopped to satisfaction are : Šimecki (not producing shoes anymore so if you spot a pair in second hand shop with this label BUY it) and Borovo (still doing quite well). Borovo brand is a company that can boost with some amazingly orthopedic shoes and sneakers. Do you remember my Startas sneakers? Well, Startas belongs to Borovo and so do Boromina sandals. Most of shoes I own are made in Croatia & Slovenia. It pays off to buy quality and locally made shoes, both for sustainable reasons and common sense. I'm not saying that I have never given in and bought a pair of fast fashion shoes, but I always regretted it and I learned my lesson. The only shoes I have had for years and were not made in Croatia are my doc Martens. I had them since I was fifteen so they're not vintage yet but they are sure old (I'm thirty six so that makes them 21 year old- wow, time really flies). If you're going to buy doc Martens, buy vintage ones because the company has been sold and the quality is just not the same.
A PAIR THAT PAYED OFF
Now, I don't remember how much I payed for this pair, so I can't do the cost per wear thing, but I reckon I probably wore them close to a hundred times so in any case they payed off. I browsed some of their old catalogues and similar models were about fifty euros. It is possible that I bought them on discount because their store was located in a building where I used to live. I don't remember when exactly I bought them either but they appeared on the blog as early as 2014. I can't say they look completely new, but they are still in a good shape. I plan to take them to a peddler soon so that I can continue to wear them for many years to come.

Throw back to Autumn 2015 and that time I styled them with my husband's pants, olive top, DIY necklace and a red bag. This was a fun outfit to wear. Maybe I should repeat it some day. I think I still have all of these items, so I should be able to pull it off.
This was another super fun outfit to wear. I love how the yellow benches in Čapljina matched my yellow hoodie (like it was planned that way). Not that I ever planned it that way, but there are lucky coincidences. I should go and visit this city with tallest citizens in the world.
One of my favourite dresses paired with my favourite heels. I wore this in Podstrana for what I'm assuming was a family occasion of some kind. My sister-in-law is from Podstrana (near Split, Croatia) so were probably visiting or something.
I loved wearing this outfit that Autumn 2015. It was a stressful day so this fun styling improved my mood. I do love this yellow skirt (my mother's) and I wear it often. One of my favourite skirts for sure.

#5 http://modaodaradosti.blogspot.ba/2015/12/book-review-daughters-of-fortune-ogled.html Obviously I liked pairing this pair of Mary Jane heels with this midi skirt for this was the second time that Autumn that I wore it, wasn't it? I do like the combo of midi skirt and Mary Jane heels.
A more recent styling featuring a Stanka Zovko set, a red blazer and a beige coat. This was such a feel good outfit. I plan to wear something similar again. These heels just look with everything.

#7 A FLORAL SKIRT, A BLACK TOP AND MARY JANE HEELS
|
Browsing my archives, I realized that I paired these heels with this floral skirt from Fashion House Edi quite a few times. I also wore it with this olive blazer more than once. Take the outfit bellow for example.
|
#8 A WHITE CHERRY PRINT DRESS AND MARY JANE HEELS
|
|
#11 A WHITE SKIRT AND VINTAGE PENCIL SKIRT
|
I wore these heels to work more than a few times. They are perfect for creating business chic looks.
I also wore them for my visits to Makarska (Croatia). I blogged about it, link above for more details.
Another outfit I loved wearing is the one featuring grey bermuda shorts and a silk blouse. This was such a chic styling but at the same time I felt so comfortable.
|
#16 WITH A STRIPED NAVY SKIRT AND A BLUE TOP/BAG |
An outfit in blue and grey tones. Something I would like to wear again if I manage to find all the items.
Another outfit I would love to rewear but I'm not sure do I have these jeggings. I do have this dress still.
One thing I love about this Mary Jane heels is how well they match all my office friendly and business chic outfits.
They are so comfortable I even wore them when travelling as demonstrated in outfit above.
On the other hand, I also wore them with beautiful dresses and more dressed up outfits- like the ones I wear for dates with hubby.
Above you can see how they look great with jeans, worn in this bohemian styling for a visit to Međugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One more dressed up look with a maxi dress and faux fur. Don't I look chic in this?
A warm weather styling for a walk in Mostar city. I felt cute in this.
When you want to feel feminine, but stay warm in winter, a nice puffer paired with heels is the way to go. Heeled boots are a warmer option, but sometimes pumps can be warm as well, as for example if you wear them with thick socks or tights.
Another feminine and elegant styling for a visit to Čapljina.
Probably one of my favourite outfits of all times was this look I wore for a walk around Split city with my husband. It was such a beautiful day in the most beautiful city in the world.
Apparently, I love how these heels look with denim skirts, for I seem to pair them together a lot.

#29 WITH A FLORAL DRESS, LILAC SWEATER AND FAUX LEATHER COAT A rainy day outfit. Did I mention that this pair of heels is good choice even for a rainy day? As long as it's not raining cats and dogs, my day stay dry and warm. I wouldn't wear them in case of heavy rain, but in all other situations, I totally would. |
What did I say about them looking look with business suits and office chic looks? Add some colourful socks to make it more fun.
Comfort is important. If shoes of your choices aren't actually comfortable to walk in, you won't get far in them. Always wear comfortable shoes when you plan to do some walking. Life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes.
Once again I styled these heels in a feminine way with blue tones and a striped skirt.
I just love the colours in this outfit. These heels are grey so I often pair them with grey tights.
Sometimes I like to wear them with colourful socks. Cropped pants or leggings make them stand out more.
This was the time when I wore them for a visit to Old Bridge in Mostar. Not a good idea! These stone pathways are meant only for flat shoes. No heel (even a comfortable one) is tolerable.
That time when I wore it with my legendary leather jacket. If my math is right, this is also the third time I paired this pair of heels with this lovely skirt. It seems to be an outfit formula of some sorts.
That time when I wore them with an all black look. I do like this look even if I'm normally one to wear too much black. Maybe because there's also a leopard bag and a green scarf that add some funk to this all black styling. Yes, that could be it.
Next look is with my beloved pink floral dress. This is possibly the most precious vintage item in my closet. I inherited it from my mother and I just love it to bits.

#40, #41 #43 #44 |
Above is a collage with four more outfits I wore these heels with, some old some more recent looks. Skirts and dresses seem to be my most frequent choice with this pair of heels.
|
#45, #46 |
As I said, I mostly pair these heels with skirts and dresses. As far as blazers go, I see that I'm often repeating this olive green blazer and the tartan one with these heels.
|
#47, #48 |
I do like this 49th look with a puffed sleeve blouse and a skater style little black dress. The fiftieth look with the animal print dress was also cute. I had fun on the day I wore it and saw an exhibition.
I do remember when I wore this maxi skirt and a leopard blouse for a visit to Metković.
|
Another outfit I might recreate some day. I do love this Uzor button up dress. I love shirt dresses because you can wear a tie with them. Nothing like a nice tie or scarf to lift your look! |
Another time I paired these heels with jeggings and a (sweater) dress. This tartan coat is another item that keeps getting worn with them. Maybe I feel like it has a retro vibe to it as well.
Lindos tacones, no soy de llevarlos. Te mando un beso

DeleteZaista predivne kombinacije, preslatka si, veoma maštovito i zanimljivo kao i obično. Crvena bluza i suknjica s prirodnim starinskim dezenom ti predivno naročito stoji, barem po mom mišljenju! ☺️

DeleteSo glad you're feeling brighter, Ivana. I'm mentioned to you before than a friend of mine suffers with Crohns's Disease and it's an awful dehabiliting illness to have. Like you, he carries on bravely and tries not to let it impact too much on his life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of outfits! I've just posted wearing the only pair of shoes I own, I'm always scared of snapping an ankle in heeled shoes. xxx
Beautiful pictures, Ivana! those are mainly versatile outfits. #7, #18, #35 and #53 are my favourite. Have a nice Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love these heels so versatile :-D
ReplyDeleteGlad you are on the mend. I am just over the worst of a bad sinus infection.
I'm glad to read you're feeling a bit better, Ivana!
ReplyDeleteI love Mary Janes, and yours are particularly gorgeous. Unfortunately I can't wear a heel that high anymore - even if it's got a platform - and in fact, I've just donated a similar pair in burgundy to charity. I particularly love Mary Janes worn with opaques! It was lovely to scroll through all these outfits, Ivana! Wishing you a great week ahead! xxx
All outfits you shared here fit you very well Dear friend! I loved all of them. Especially Bags (red ones) are so cute. Thanks for the review and all photos. Happy Sunday.

These have to be the most perfect pair of t-straps ever! You really have a great wardrobe of lovely clothes, Ivana, and these shoes go with everything! It's great that you have favourite Croatian brands (I love finding those high-end brands from other countries). I'm so glad you are feeling better, honey.

You definitely did get a lot of wear out of these shoes and I'm so impressed with how long you've had your doc Martens. I think my oldest pair of shoes is around 10 years and that's just because they're pretty, but not comfortable enough to wear that often.
ReplyDeleteI love all the different ways your styled these shoes! You have such a unique style.
