Today I've been thinking about love....Danas sam razmišljala o ljubavi....

Today I've been thinking about love a lot. I've been thinking how it is probably the most misused word ever.  It is highly probably that all of us misused it at least a number of times. We use this word when we feel that we're entitled to something or someone. We use this word when we want to say that something or someone makes us feel good. We use it to say we need or want something or someone. We use it all the wrong ways sometimes. Perhaps that's how it must be until we learn to use it the right way. Sometimes love is the wrong word to use, but at times it might be the only thing we got.  Love is a word that has its own power. People respond to it. All the same, it is a tricky word to use. Using this word can sometimes mean you're taking the easier way. Preciously because there is magic in this word, it can backfire. You might say that there are many kinds of love and that is certainly true. Still, that doesn't change the fact that word love is often used as a tool of emotional manipulation.

Something tells me that we don't use 'love' that often to express the fact that our very being is intricately connected with another human being. That our personal happiness may depend entirely on somebody's else happiness. Why don't we? Perhaps because it is a scary thing to admit. For what it means to truly love? One of my favourite authors (that would be Robert A. Heinlein) gave his definition of it, and I always held it near my heart: love is a condition is which another person happiness is essential to your own. It sounds drastic, but I think it's as close to the truth as anyone got. I think that at its core, love is a pretty radical and drastic feeling. Love may be the most used and perhaps even the most misused word ever, but funny thing is...when someone loves us, we know it. It is obvious. Words are not needed. Deep down we know whether we're loved or not.

    1. tricky business indeed...sometimes I feel like it is a good word to use even when we aren't too sure should we use it but at times I'm not so sure. I'm undecided on this topic too.

  5. I think the word love is both misused and overused as well and I would agree that it probably is used because it is both compelling and it's a word that is often at the top of our minds. In any case you've given me pause as to how I choose to use it and I think I need to step back and analyze that now. I hope your hand is feeling better.

  6. I completely agree with you. Love is an overused word and not always meant when said either. I think we should be more careful when using it really. You look gorgeous in both of these looks. So gorgeous you are. Happy Friday doll xx

  14. You are a beautiful philosopher, Ivana! Love the photos of you visiting the church, and especially that happy portrait of you at home!

I used to feel self-conscious about the word "love" when I was younger. It wasn't very common to say "I love you" where I grew up. We are strong Siberian people, we don't like to demonstrate our vulnerability. I am very different now. I say "I love you" often and to many people. Love is so much more than "falling in love", than "brother's love", "spouse love" and even parental love. Love is our essence, love is what we feel when we feel extremely connected and alive. Love is inside of us - not in the "object"...

So I will tell you just one more thing. I love you! <3 :)
