A SUNNY MAY WEEKEND ON ISLAND HVAR

Hello dear readers! How are you doing? Today I'm taking you to beautiful island Hvar (Croatia) again. I'll show you some places I visited last weekend on island Hvar. Before heading for Split city, we made a quick stop on island Hvar and revisited some of our favourite places. As some of you may remember, I spent the year 2020 working and living on this island. It was great. This visit to island Hvar was short, but we still got to revisit some of our favourite places and people.

SUCURAJ, ISLAND HVAR
I blogged about Sucuraj quite a few times. I always go on about how this place has some of the best views. It inspired one of my favourite paintings. If you want to know more about this place, you're welcome to visit some of my old posts. Island Hvar is a huge inspiration for my art, so it was great to be able to see it with my own eyes again.

My outfit for travelling was quite basic: a graphic tee, a pair driving loafers, a pair of flared jeans and a flared navy jacket. Another successful shopping of my own closet. You know, I haven't bought a single clothing item this year. I did buy some accessories (a few hats) but not a single clothing item. I wasn't even trying to do a shopping ban, rather I really didn't feel like going shopping.

GDINJ'S BAYS
We also made a stop in a few Gdinj's bays, where some of my paintings have found a new home. The first canvas you can see is depicts Dance of the Sails event in Jelsa. I gifted it to family friends. The second canvas is a reproduction painting I made while taking art courses. I gifted that oil painting to my parents some time ago. The burgundy jacket I'm wearing bellow was purchased here on the island (in Mana store) about a year ago. I wore it because it was a bit windy that night, but generally speaking the weather was quite nice.

JELSA
Jelsa was my home for more than a year (see here), so I just had to make a quick stop there to see a couple of friends. One of them is my former colleague who has finally got the keys to her new flat. We talked a bit about how she was going to decorate it.  I was surprised to see a new and a rather large supermarket. It was built remarkably quickly, in just a few months. I think it's a great idea to build it outside the centre to avoid traffic issues. It looks nice but we didn't stop to shop there, we just said hello to some friends of ours and we were on our way.

VRBOSKA, BAY SOLINE
Another place we stopped by was this beautiful bay Soline in Vrboska. We didn't have more than minutes to enjoy it, but we just had to come here and remind ourselves of all the incredibly happy moments we have spent there last year. This time I paired my flared jacket with a black flared dress.

Thank you for reading and stopping by. Have a nice weekend!

  1. Island Hvar feels so familiar to me now, since it featured in so many of your posts. What a gorgeous place it is, and a wonderful inspiration for your paintings. I'm glad you gave some to a good home!

I'm mostly shopping my own closet these days, and it's been a lot of fun...although I do like to shop!

    Have a great weekend, sweetheart!

    1. Yes, regular shopping can be fun too. I haven't given up on it but we don't have good second hand shops here and I'm more drawn to vintage stuff. Maybe I should try my luck online.

  3. That is such a beautiful island - I always like the pics you share! And I love the top - the statement bell sleeves are so fun! :)

I've been shopping less this year but I think I'll still end up buying more than last year - it will be interesting to see! Didn't buy anything this month or last month but June is often a big spend month for me with all the sales!

Hope you are having a great weekend :)

  9. It must have been wonderful to revisit island Hvar, and Jelsa in particular, since it was your home during last year's turbulent times. The views are stunning as always, so it's always a joy to tag along on your visits to the island. I'm loving your travelling wardrobe, in particular that flared jacket! xxx

  19. Hello Ivana, ¿cómo estás? I hope you're doing better and I hope you managed to fix your duties :)

Such a gorgeous island, since you recommended Hvar Island in the first pose I marked on my lists of places to go in Europe! It reminds me a lot to Mallorca islands in the Balearics where I am right now, due to the colors or the houses and deep blue ocean, seems like the perfect place to relax and get inspired for future art projects right?

And about your outfit I like that it is wearable but full of drama with those pretty sleeves and ruffles! They add a lot of interest to this proposal!

Have a lovely week and thanks again for your support!

  21. Od cijele frke oko mature i završnice, nisam stigao ni čitati članke a ni napisati svoj... Veoma ti lijepo stoje kombinacije, u crnoj također izgledaš prelijepo mogla bi razmisliti i o nekim varijantama dark fashion. ;)

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
