FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: SKETCHING DURING A FERRY RIDE

Hello there and welcome to another Fashion Illustration Friday feature! Today I'll share with you some new fashion sketches. I made these ballpoint pen sketches while I was enjoying a ferry ride from island Hvar to Split city. I decided to try to turn them into digital illustrations. Scroll down to see more.
HR Zdravo svima.

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT- HOW I WORE IT BEFORE?
My travelling outfit was all about comfort, but I think it looked cute as well. I wore a floral blouse and skirt (something old and something new). I finished the look with a pair of beige driving loafers, a backpack and a mandatory face mask.
THE FLORAL SHIRT/BLOUSE- The floral blouse is a part of a vintage set and I have worn it many times in the past. Last time I wore it was here
THE FLORAL SKIRT- recently worn here and here
THE BEIGE LOAFERS -recently worn here and here

ANOTHER OUTFIT THAT I WORE FOR A FERRY RIDE
This outfit is very similar to an outfit I wore for sightseeing Split city, I just lost the blazer and the leopard tights. When I'm done with sketching, I like to walk around on the deck and admire the view. Sailing into Stari Grad port never gets old. I won't link up these items for now because I'm preparing a special post about this yellow blazer and the black dress. Moving on!

How's life treating you? I'm a bit tired. I typically opt for a working vacation in the sense that I like to be productive, plan things and make stuff during my vacation, but sometimes perhaps I get a bit carried away and work myself too hard. Don't get me wrong. I'm very blessed to have been born with so much drive and energy for DIY stuff, art and creative projects of all kinds, but sometimes it can be a bit tiring. Plus, I'm also fighting my way through red tape right now, so that's another reason why I might feel tired (besides anemia). Still, I really have no complains. I never travel anywhere that isn't local, I never go abroad so my life and vacation plans weren't changed by the fact that I have a lot of paperwork to do. I never do typical vacations, I try to go hiking and stuff almost every weekend but I don't travel and stay somewhere for vacation. I think I actually prefer shorter trips and stuff like that. Vacationing at home can be great too, trust me. It's all about finding what makes you happy. It can be art, it can be new projects or it can be Netflix (no judgement). How are you spending your summer?

  2. I love ferries! I've ridden on them probably hundreds of time in my life, since I live on Vancouver Island (west coast of Canada). Your ferries look very familiar, although we have fixed/bolted down seating indoors, as the weather can get very choppy. We often see orcas, though! Do you ever see wildlife?

I love your drawings, especially the gowns - ha, what a shocker. I'm a sucker for a big full skirt. Those ladies should not be standing on the railings - not safe! ;-P

My summer is never really much different than the rest of the year - as my home area depends on tourism for its income (we're really hit hard by COVID shut-downs here), I've avoided doing any of the touristy things. I'm starting to rethink that, to go support our local attractions, museums and galleries. I prefer staying close to home too, although we do travel to the US and sometimes to Europe (twice). I find travel really stressful and anxiety-making.

Take care of yourself and get some rest, sweetie.

  7. This summer is a bit odd for me due to the virus. I usually go on holiday but I'm vacationing at home this time. I enjoying it and finding things to do during the summer. I also want to do so many projects but one at a time I think for me is the best.
I really enjoy your illustrations. There innovative and different from the norm.
I love the outfit you wore on the ferry.

  10. I sometimes do the same thing on vacation depending on where we are. SOmetimes I just want to see and experience everything yet not get too far behind on life. I figure I'll rest later.
I just love your sketches Ivana. And how wonderful you showed us the ferry....we don't have many of those around here.

  11. Your outfit is lovely. Very summery and effortlessly chic. You are lucky to live in a country that has so much natural beauty and rich history that you don't even need to travel abroad to have wonderful new experiences.

  12. I like the floral shirt in your outfit and these are nice sketches! I love the colours in the maxi skirt one! :) I agree, you don't need to travel far to enjoy seeing something new! We haven't gone too far from home but once winter is over I'd like to try venture out a bit more around our state if things are safe.

Hope that your week is going well :) It's a cold and wet winter week here!

  15. Those illustrations are great, loving the dark haired lady with the white shorts.
    I live to travel.
Summer for us is working at festivals and obviously our life has been put on hold. It's odd being at home, thank goodness for National Trust membership! x

  16. I can't say that I like a ferry trip, but I loved your pictures and your outfits. Like you, I prefer staycations to holidays abroad. There are so many wonderful things to see closer to home that is pointless to go abroad, at this time anyway. Hope that you are feeling a bit better now. Maybe it would help if you'd spend the weekend on the sofa, relaxing a bit, with a movie or a book. x

  17. Hello Ivana, such a fantastic post to read and amazing illustrations mixed with photos.... those are my favorite experiments to do and to watch at!

I liked that you had no limits for this post, on one side you used a traditional ball pen to illustrate and the result is so cool and natural and then you mixed some of the ladies with those amazing spectacular gowns with photos of the ferry! Hope they don't get wet since those garments are beautiful.... By the way have you seen the latest collection of Valentino? You would love the gowns, I think! They are so beautiful and dramatic to illustrate :)

And about summer well.... this is definitely an odd summer but at least there are not too many tourists in the street, despite that I am a little bit tired and I would like to do more normal stuff like going to the cinemas or to a park and just chill a bit :( Hope you get your rest soon! Right now I'm trying to give myself a break during a whole day, sometimes Saturday in order to refresh my brain.

  18. Dearest Ivana,
you made beautiful drawings during your ferry trip. And you nicely turned them into digital gadgets! I also like your floral and comfortable outfit! Hopefully you will soon feel more charged again and not so tired!
We also spend the summer (almost) exclusively in our own country - sometimes with nice trips. You asked me in my last post: "Did you really manage to see all of this in one day?", because you weren't sure whether you understood the translator correctly. Yes, the day trip to the storks, wild horses and the castles in Marchfeld was full of experiences, but it was not stressful because all of this is very close.
In my current blog post I tell about a new trip: We were in Slovakia for just one day - in Bratislava, because the city is not far from us. There was also a lot to see there. This time, however, I have split the post. In the current post, I am only telling about our walk through the old town of Bratislava (followed by a couple of collages from a photo exhibition in Baden near Vienna). In my next blog post I will tell you about other activities in the green part of Bratislava - because we had wonderful nature experiences there too.
    Hugs and best wishes,
    Traude

  20. I love the outfit you were wearing for your ferry ride, which is very cute. Your ballpoint sketches are a lovely way to pass the time during your crossing to Split city, and it's interesting to see how you turn the into digital art. We usually travel to the UK in June, but that was a no-go this year. We also had to scrap a short trip to Holland in April, so I am feeling a bit bereft. We often take short trips inside Belgium, but there's no way we would do that during high season. So, as much as we need a break, it'll have to wait until after the school holidays, as everywhere is much too crowded, especially as many people aren't travelling abroad this Summer. If I lived in a country as beautiful as yours, I probably wouldn't travel internationally much either! xxx

  21. Such beautiful views from the ferry, and you've made yourself some cute fashionable friends! :) I miss ferry rides... I've been feeling exhausted lately, to tell the truth. We had a busy year, on top of all the restrictions due to COVID. We go on woodsy walks, and went swimming with my daughter recently, but I still get cabin fever from time to time.
    Take care, my dear!
