HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER FROM ZAVALA

EN Happy first day of summer! My last post was all about how much  I loved Zavala and how I would like to visit it again. Guess what? I did. I visited Zavala again and I loved it. HR Sretan prvi dan ljeta! Moja zadnja objava je bila o tome koliko mi se svidjela Zavala i kako bi ju voljela posjetiti ponovo. Pogodite što se dogodilo. Posjetila sam ju ponovo i bilo mi je odlično. How has the first day of summer treated you? Mine has been bittersweet but so are many things right now. The epidemic is changing the world as we know it. Like many, I'm trying to take it one day at the time and remind myself that there are always things we can be grateful for. 
Kakav je bio vaš prvi dan ljeta? Moj je bio gorko sladak kao i puno stvari sada. Epidemija mijenja svijet kakvoga poznajemo. Kao i puno ljudi, trudim se živjeti dan po dan i posjetiti se da ima stvari na kojima možemo biti zahvalni.

THE STORY OF MY OUTFIT- A DRESS PAIRED WITH A SCARF
I ended up tying this oversize scarf around my hips because...who remembers? Let me tell you the story of this outfit instead. The more you shop your closet, the more stories you can create with your clothes.
THE DRESS
This colourful dress is so me. I love mixing different prints and this dress has it all: stripes and animal print. I also love the colours on this dress. The combination of turquoise, navy blue, beige and orange is just so perfect for summer. I've made a little collage of some of my previous outfits featuring this dress. You can also check them out here, here and here. I have had this dress for about 6 years or so (if my blog is a reliable witness). I have obviously worn it  many times. How many? I haven't counted, but I plan to devote a special post to it some day and get a number of some kind. What I love about this mixed print dress is that it can be worn both casually and formally. For more formal occasions, just pair it with heels. I do like a dress that  can be so versatile. We all need dresses like that, don't you agree? 
THE SCARF
This scarf was the gift from my significant others. You can see how I styled it here and here. I think I've had it for about seven years now. I plan to devote a special post to it soon. 
THE SHOES
I purchased these sandals last summer. They're from a Spanish brand Art that I love and you can buy them here (neither sponsored nor affiliated) 
THE HAT
The hat itself is new. It is the only fast fashion piece in my outfit. As you might now, I'm not able to go to my home so I needed a new hat to protect me from the sun and I picked this one.

BACK TO ZAVALA ....
Exploring Zavala was really fun. There were quite a few tourists when we were there this time, so we had to share Zavala with them. I didn't mind honestly. I know some people depend on tourism for their income and you can't have tourism without tourists. I personally don't depend on tourism, because I don't work in that sector and I also don't own any property in Croatia so there is nothing for me to rent. I was just thinking how I almost anticipated the pandemic with my posts. Most of this year, I kept writing about these natural gems on island Hvar. Right now there are the places that are in demand as people want to vacation somewhere where they feel safe. I was writing about lesser know places all these months because secluded bays and hiking paths are my thing, but now others might actually benefit from my posts. It is exactly this kind of secluded bays and small villages that will be top destinations this summer. People will probably focus more on private accommodation this summer. Hotels and bars will probably suffer loses, while small renters of private villas, apartments, houses and flats will probably do quite well.  That's my estimation and I don't think it's far off. I think Zavala could do quite well this year. It is a beautiful place. The views are amazing and the nature is simply gorgeous. Moreover, Zavala is the kind of place that offers a great sense of privacy and safety.

    Maybe summer is not my favorite season of the year, since it feels very overwhelming in this zone of Spain, but I do love a good summer outfit that feels fresh and it is better if I can use it by the sea, like your gorgeous options with that nice hat that feels like a dream!

    Happy first day of summer! It feels like the middle of winter here, it's so cold, haha! It's just the first month but we had a cold snap in autumn that brought winter temps!

    Qui oggi hanno aperto la piscina del residence in cui vivo, ma ancora non ci sono andata perchè comunque i giorni scorsi ha fatto freschino e temo che l'acqua sia gelida...
    Bellissima l'dea di aggiungere un foulard al vestito, hai reso le cose più interessanti e gli hai dato un twist molto più vacanziero!

    How lovely that you were able to revisit Zavala on the first day of Summer. That starfish is gorgeous, I have never seen one in real life. I'm swooning over your outfit, which must be the personification of Summer. How ingenious to pair the dress with the scarf, and I'm also loving your hat! This is indeed a bittersweet time. Spring has basically passed us by, and it feels quite unreal that Summer has already arrived. I do not dwell on the future too much. Taking it one day at a time is the best we can do. xxx

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything.
