HOW TO STYLE A YELLOW BLAZER WITH DAD SNEAKERS FOR SPRING?

My outfit proposal of the day is a casual one. I feel that not too long ago a blazer worn with jeans wouldn't have been exactly my first choice, especially paired with dad's sneakers, but times are changing. One of fun things about trends is that they can make you step outside of your comfort zone a little bit. Obviously, we shouldn't follow trends just for the sake of following them, but often they can give us inspiration. I certainly like to look at them that way, as a source of inspiration. Fashion moves in circles, so playing up with trends doesn't really have to cost anything, especially if you have already mastered shopping your own closet. The athletic sneaker trend is certainly a tempting one. It's hard to say not to the comfy sneakers trend, especially when you enjoy hiking and strolling around as much as I do. Most people do have an ugly sneaker in their closet. It is possibly the most comfortable option out there, so why not try styling it for every day?

However, this outfit wasn't all about comfort. I realized that I actually like how this yellow blazer looks with jeans. Another thing I like about this outfit is that it allowed me to play with feminine accessories a bit. That's always a good thing to do if you want to make your casual styling more girly. I wore this styling when I went out for a drink (and when I say drink I mean coffee) with my significant other, and after the drink we decided to stroll around a bit. We ended up on the banks of Neretva river with a magnificent view of Mostar city. One of the things I love about Mostar is that you can get totally lost the moment you get close to Neretva river. It's such a potent river in more ways than one. Moreover, the riverside surrounding it is absolutely mesmerizing. Well, when it comes to Neretva river, I think I'll let the photographs speak for themselves.

HOW TO STYLE A YELLOW BLAZER IN A CASUAL WAY?

If you want to make your blazer looks more casual, one of easy ways to do is to pair it with jeans and the 'it' sneaker of the moment- dad's sneaker. There is no denying the sneaker trend. Anything from Dad's sneakers, trainers to classical converse styles has become the shoe of choice for many a fashionista. So called 'ugly or athletic sneakers' have been trendy for a while now and we can't really complain because most of them are wonderfully comfortable and quite orthopedic. Plus, all that athletic gear trend is perhaps exactly what our society needs because you know what they say, the sedentary lifestyle is unhealthy. Let's hope this athletic trend will make us want to get out and about a bit more. What do you think? Can a good pair of sneaker make us want to walk and move more?

WHAT IS YOUR STAND ON THE UGLY SNEAKERS TREND?

But back to the subject of dad's sneakers.  I'm curious, what is your take on it? I only have one such pair, and to be honest I have had it for a while. I wish I could tell you the brand, but I never figured it out. I bought it a store where quality sneakers are sold, and they must have been a quality made pair because they have lasted me for many years. In fact, I have had this pair of white trainers for something like eight years. I can't believe I bought them that long ago. I wish I knew the name of the brand because I'd totally repurchase them, but alas I don't. I will definitely buy a similar pair some time in the future. I'm always happy when I find a shoe that lasts a long time. I often go through shoes quickly because I do walk a lot, but as I already said this pair of sneakers has been with me for years. Walking is everything to me really, a way both to relax, get inspired and exercise. The benefits of walking are numerous. If you haven't joined the 'walk more' initiative,  remember it's never too late.

HOW TO MAKE A CASUAL OUTFIT MORE FEMININE WITH ACCESSORIES?

Now, it's time to discuss my favourite aspect of this outfit and that would be the accessories. I have styled this vintage yellow blazer with golden hair pins with pearls. I like to wear them one next to another for a more dramatic look. In addition, I opted for a statement necklace. I think it stands nicely against the dark blue velvet turtleneck. Accessories can be a great way to make an outfit more feminine. Another great way to make your styling feel more girly is picking up a pretty bag. I simply love this little burgundy leather bag, I wear it often and I feel it makes any outfit look more chic. What do you think? Do you like to wear accessories? Do you like the statement accessory trend? If you're looking for more inspiration for styling sneakers, or would like to know how to keep your outfits feminine even when they're casual,  feel free to check out the following posts and read what I already had to say about this subject:

A GOOD PAIR OF JEANS IS WORTH GOLD

Jeans are a classic for a reason. Most people have at least one pair of jeans they adore. I totally get ladies who stay away for jeans, in fact there was the time when I did the same. The danger with wearing jeans too often is they can turn into a sort of an uniform. We can get too comfortable with them. That being said, jeans do have many clear advantages. These days I wear them pretty often. I do believe that a good pair of jeans is priceless. It is the perfect thing to pull out of your closet when you want to feel confident and comfy at the same time. Speaking of the subject of today's post (blazer with sneakers), it is worth noting that jeans can be a great balancing piece. For instance, if you feel like rocking the dad's sneaker trend, but you aren't confident that you can't pull it off effortlessly, you can always opt  to pair them with a pair of jeans. No same in opting for a more basic outfit. You can always dress it up a little, for example with a blazer or accessories. Here I paired these dad sneakers with jeans, a turtleneck and a blazer. Something basic like that is always a good idea if you want a more toned down approach to some trend. Remember that you can dress down anything with denim. This pair of jeans was bought in a second hand store (or an outlet, I'm not completely sure) and it is one of the most comfy pieces I have. It's also my significant other's favourite, which is probably the main reason I wear it so often.

yellow blazer: vintage, navy blue velvet turtleneck: vintage, jeans: thrifted, necklace: old, sneakers: old, bag: no name (bought it store Borsa in Mostar)

  2. I love the hair clips, great way to accessorise! I really like a blazer and jeans combo too, it's so cool and casual! :)

I haven't taken part in the dad shoe trend but I do love my Converse for casual shoes - I pair them with dresses and skirts and yes jeans too when I want a little extra warmth. They are getting a lot of wear at the moment!

Hope that your week is going well and you have a nice weekend planned :)

  4. The sneakers are so cute with the outfit. I wear sneakers often since we go on many nature walks. I don't really follow trends though so I try to keep my sneakers traditional looking. Sneakers are a must for all of us since we should all be walking while we can. I feel the same about my jeans and wear them all winter at home working and while out walking.

  5. Very excellent choices when it comes to picking out what to wear and what to accessorize with, Ivana. Blazers are awesome because you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. I'm in love with hair clips right now. I know dad sneakers are in but I just don't know if it's for me.

  7. Such beautiful scenery, and how wonderful to have it all virtually on your doorstep! I'm passionate about walking too, and I do agree sneakers are comfortable, even though they are not really my thing. For reasonably level terrain (not so difficult in a mainly flat area like Flanders) I'm wearing a comfortable pair of ankle boots. In fact, I love them so much that last week I went out and bought another pair. I have a pair of good quality walking boots for serious hiking, and a pair of Mary Jane style comfort shoes by Clarks (they are called Cloudsteppers). I do have some sneakers too, but the problem is that I'm not a fan of the ones with the thick white soles, and it's very hard to find others! Anyway, enough about me and my footwear. I very much love your casual walking outfit. The jeans paired with the yellow blazer is an inspired combination. I'm loving your statement necklace and those cute hair clips. And oh, your handbag is just perfect too! Wishing you a wonderful evening and hopefully sunny Sunday! xxx

  17. I always love the look of the Dad sneakers when someone else is wearing them, but since I wear them every day (though I try to get away from the Dad sneakers and go with something a little more streamlined) for work, I generally don't want to wear them any other time. When I do wear sneakers, I wear my Adidas Superstars (I love the look of these with jeans and with maxi skirts or short summer skirts). I think you've done a great job with styling the Dad sneakers. I love that yellow blazer and that little bag and the statement necklace are the perfect accessories. And, yes, jeans. How did women live before they could wear jeans? Did they never go hiking or camping? You have a beautiful backdrop for your photos, too! I'd love to hike along the Neretva River and what a great frame for the city in the background!
