Fashion illustration of the day + outfit of the day (Buona domenica!)

Happy Sunday darlings! How are you doing? As you can see, I'm still working hard on improving my illustrating skills, always trying out new things and drawing more and more in the process. I do aspire to to polish my fashion illustrations. As much as I enjoy drawing imaginary outfits (i.e. designing clothes), I find drawing real outfits to be just as fun. In addition, I think that by trying to portray real clothing items, things we wear and actually know, we can improve our fashion illustration skills because you know- 'draw what you know'. Alright, I'm not sure is that actually a saying but  if there is 'write what you know', why shouldn't there be 'draw what you know'?

So, here is an outfit I actually wore. I took these photographs to show you my new closet (I'm planning to do a series of post focusing on my new home and the interior designing I did) but this outfit seemed cute enough for an illustration. Plus, it will take me a while to prepare those interior design posts. The medium for this illustration is mixed, (coloured pencils and makers on paper). I really like how this fashion illustration turned out.

I don't remember how long it took me to draw it, certainly not less than an hour.  Paradoxically, the more I practice, the more time my illustration take time to finish. When I first started doing Inspired by posts (remember that feature?), it sometimes took me just half an hour to finish an illustration, now I takes me about six hours, sometimes even more. I haven't gave up on my Inspired by series, though. I have some new ideas for that series and plenty of new art in the making, but all in this due time. For today, this simple illustration will do.

  8. Ivana, this illustration is wonderful! I definitely see how much your skills improved over the years. The more we do something we love, the better and freer we get, that's for sure. And yes, draw what you know - wear what you know - live what you know!

Congratulations to your new home!!! How exciting! Now I need your new address, hehe! Hey, I have JUST recently framed your illustration of me - it took me a couple of years, I think, to get to it, but I did it! It is now on the mantel, I will snap a pic of it and share. So I am moving, just slowly. Sending books are a long process, but I'll get there. :)

Love this adorable girly outfit with cool shoes and cute braids! <3

    1. It can be quite warm, sometimes up to plus 10 but still I wear tights most of the time. I might choose an outfit like this if I know won't spend much time outside, but for a longer walk, I will always wear tights.

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.
