FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: ISLAND HVAR EDITION

Time for another Fashion Friday Feature. Fashion illustration has been a hobby for me for a long time. I've pretty much been illustrating fashionable ladies since I can remember. I even used to make paper Barbies when I was a kid- that was fun! Anyhow, over the years, I tried out various styles of fashion illustrating, some more classic, some more artistic and whimsical. I've never attempted digital art, but with a bit of help from editing magic, today I moved some of my fashion illustration to island Hvar. You could say that I let my illustrated gals enjoy some sunshine. I like mixing up my fashion art with my travel photography. I don't do typical digital art, but I sometimes like to add digital effects to my fashion art. Scroll down to see and more.

MANY WAYS TO DO FASHION ILLUSTRATION
When it comes to fashion illustration, I haven't done it all, but I've done and tried out a lot of things. Starting with the mediums, I have tried it all: markers, pencils, watercolour, watercolour pencils, acrylics, pens, markers and even oil paints. I've also done a lot of mixed media and collage projects over the years. I created fashion illustrations with the helps of scarps, dried and fresh flowers and pretty much anything I could get my hands on. I have illustrated runaway looks by both famous and less known designer, fashion bloggers and inspiring individuals. I was never afraid to experiment and so far I have created a ton of fashion illustrations, sketches, doodles and even some fashion paintings. I'm always looking for ways to develop my style and drawing skills. 

I think that we can all agree that as an adult, it is not easy to make time for hobbies that are complex or time consuming, but I'm so glad I not only tried my hand at fashion illustration but also stuck with it over the years. Fashion illustration was always something I enjoyed, but I only took it more seriously a few years ago. With work came some results and also: art I can hang on my walls. Today I'm feeling pretty happy about owing hundreds of original fashion illustrations. If you want to read a bit more about my art journey, here are links to my old posts:

    It seems I'm running a bit behind in commenting, and that I skipped commenting on this post, which I must remedy now. I always loving seeing your fashion illustrations and I think you are a very talented, and many talented lady. I do agree with you that as an adult it is hard to make time - proper time - for a hobby and in fact, I'm always strapped for time myself. But I do admire the amount of things you manage to do, reading, hiking, fashion illustration and blogging, and all of that on top of your job! PLUS 30 WAYS TO WEAR A BABY BLUE DRESS AND LEOPARD HEELS (OUTFIT POST, MOSTAR)

 Hello! In this post, I'll share a sustainable baby blue and leopard spring styling. A pale blue might not be the first choice with leopard, but why not? For me leopard print is sort of a classic. I actually love to pair it with all kinds of colours, from more vibrant ones to pales ones. In the past, I paired it with cobalt blue . I definitely do not feel that leopard should be worn only with neutral colours. I mean I paired leopard with white, grey and black clothing items often enough, but I love to pair it with something that pops, be it a coloured or pattern item. I do love patterns. So, it's not surprising that I love to mix patterns.  Back to my baby blue & leopard outfit. I wore it for an outing and I really enjoyed it. The best about is that it is sustainable. OIL PASTELS VS. WATERCOLOUR PENCILS (SPLIT, FIRULE BEACH)

If you remember in my last posts I shared a seascape sketch with you. Today I will show you the completed version. I did complete this watercolour pencil sketch the same day I started it. There was also a version I made with oil pastels. In case anyone is wondering, I don't have these two with me anymore. I shipped some of my art to one (amateur) art gallery yesterday. The watercolour landscape I'm sharing with you today was among the paintings sent while the pastel version of this scene was sent to a friend.  Both of them were sketched on a lovely sunny day on Firule beach in Split (it has gotten colder in the meantime). Sights to see, places to visit / Znamenitosti za vidjeti, mjesta za posjetiti -----Goranci

My Sights to see, places to visit feature would surely be missing something if I didn't include this little village Goranci in the list of places to visit. This charming little village is situated in the vicinity of Mostar.  I love to go there to espace the city heat.  If you are into cycling, you'd be happy to hear that you can rent a bike for free. You just need to leave your ID in the restaurant Goranci and you can take the bike. There is a wonderful cycling and pedestrian walk so be sure to check it out. As of recently, there is also a beautiful park at your disposal. This park is growing daily as new things are added to it(toys for kids and that sorts of stuff). If you look closely, you'll be able to see that some decorative trees are still being planted at the enterance to this park.  You can read some of my previous posts about this village here , here and here . Time for another Fashion Illustration Friday talk. We'll talk autumn and share some new autumn inspired fashion illustrations & outfits. Autumn is a season with one of the most beautiful colour palettes. Just think about all those gorgeous gold and red leaves! What To See and Do in Hutovo Blato Nature Park in Summer? Exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina's Hidden Gems #1

What you know, Europe still has its fair share of secret spots! Seeing these photographs, you'd think I was somewhere in a tropical jungle of some sorts, but you'd be wrong as these images were taken in Hutovo blato , a nature park and bird reservoir located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is quite close to border with Croatia, so if you're visiting our Adriatic coast, do consider stopping by here as well.  Hutovo Blato is mostly composed of marshlands (wetlands) and it is a stunning natural area to visit. The photographs I'm sharing today were taken a year ago, the last time I visited this bird & nature park during summer. My visits to this nature park have been numerous indeed. The reasons for that is very simple: I really like it there. THE ISLAND OF THE MISSING TREES BY ELIF SHAFAK (BOOK REVIEW AND RECOMMENDATION)

Today I shall review The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak. I was actually gifted this book. What a wonderful present it proved to be! Published in 2021, this postmodern  novel  follows two  story lines and uses framed narration.  The Island of Missing Trees  tells the life story of a Greek Turkish couple and their adolescent daughter.  This novel examines and explores a number of topics such as identity, migration, immigrant life, war trauma, memory, love and family. It's an ambitious novel that examines serious topics with due respect and sensitivity . I read it months ago, but I remember it vividly. Honestly, I cried a lot while reading this novel. It really moved me greatly. In fact, that is probably why it took me this long to finish this book review. I needed to emotionally process the story.   The Island of Missing Trees is   set in London and Cyprus. The Magic of Nature Park Hutovo Blato: Must See Places in Herzegovina

I've been living as an expat in Bosnia and Herzegovina for almost a decade now. During this rather long period of time, I've discovered many wonderful places that I learned to treasure and appreciate. I wrote about most of them here in this little place I can my own. Still, some places are more special than others. It is hard to say why. Some reasons remain mysterious of the heart. Maybe life is more interesting that way. We don't always have to know everything. Sometimes we fall in love with places just the way we fall in love with people. All I can say is that Hutovo Blato is one of those special places. I've fallen in love with it during my first visit. Maybe it's the sea child in me that's feeling (and missing) the Adriatic? After all, the Adriatic is not far from here. I decided to wear my new Peko shoes because I wanted to check whether they can be worn without tights (as one does in Summer)....and I'm happy to announce they've passed the test!
