WHERE TO STAY AND DINE IN NATURE PARK BLIDINJE? WHY I WOULD RECOMMEND THE HOTEL HAJDUCKE VRLETI?
If you remember my previous post, you'll know that Blidinje is a nature park located in a mountain area. In my last post, I showed you the amazing mountain lake Blidinje, today I'll show you where to dine & stay in Blidinje. I'm sure there are other lovely options, but my first recommendation has to be hotel Hajducke Vrleti. I didn't stay in hotel Hajducke Vrleti this time but I did in the past (you can read my review of Hadjucke Vrleti here). This time around our visit to nature park Blidinje was not a long one, so we didn't have the chance to spend the night. We arrived to nature park Blidinje in the morning, stopped by Hajducke Vrleti Hotel for  breakfast. While we were eating, friends who have a mountain home in vicinity invited us for drinks, so we went to see them. After that, we visited the mountain church of Saint Elias in Masna Luka and then drove all the way to Kupres.  Long story short, it was one really active day and we finished it with a visit to city Posusje. (I'll blog about it soon enough). It is good that we enjoyed a yummy and healthy breakfast at the hotel, so we had plenty of energy for that busy day. Scroll down to read my restaurant recommendation.

RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATION: HOTEL HAJDUCKE VRLETI
We have dinned in hotel Hadujke Vrleti many times and we have always enjoyed my meals there. Their cuisine is really top notch, they have a great selection of dishes and the food they serve is always fantastic. Dinning in this restaurant is a great experience not just because of the amazing food but also because of very friendly staff and atmosphere. Plus, you can't really beat this location, can you? I mean look at the view! Mountains all around, fresh air, really it's a dream to eat here. This time around I ordered a cherry tomato and ricotta salad. I'm not flaring at the moment, so I could let myself eat a salad. Sadly, that is not always the case. One of the hardest thing about living with Chron disease is to resist the salads. However, this time since I wasn't flaring, the salad didn't hurt me and seasoned with some lovely olive oil, I enjoyed it a lot. My husband ordered fried eggs and he was just as happy with his dish as I was. I can definitely recommend this restaurant! I'm a big fan of their branding as well. They have logos & signs of Hajducke Vrleti on everything.

The restaurant area isn't only limited to indoors, there is a fabulous dinning area outside of the hotel. A lovely little mountain garden you can stroll in. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee, tea and cakes at the outside terrace. I do recommend it as the mountains views are nothing short of spectacular. Nothing quite beats the mountain air, am I right or what? I wish I could trasport myself there right now, the heat in Mostar city is quite oppressive at the moment. In fact, I wish I could move to Hajducke Vrleti for the summer!

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT
Now, a few words about my outfit. Nothing is really new in this mixed print summer styling. This striped t-shirt is  an inherited item, it might also be vintage, I'm not entirely sure but it is definitely second hand. The tartan print skirt is vintage and it used to belong to my mother. I do like how these two items look together, I'm always up for a big print mixing. Prints are always fun but to many they are easier to pull out in the summer. Personally, I like to print mix in all seasons but if you lack courage, summer is the ideal time to start. The black backpack and the boromina sandals are both practical choices (taken that this is a hiking outfit) but I also think they look cute. My accessorizes weren't of the most practical kind, though. I accessorized this look more than I usually do, opting to wear multiple bracelets, a necklace and a headband with DIY touches. I guess I wanted to add a bit of bling to my hiking styling. How do you like this summer outfit?

PROTECTED AREAS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA: BLIDINJE

Today I'm focusing on nature park Blidinje, but while I'm at it, it is also worth mentioning other protected areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In total there are 3 nature parks in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Hutovo Blato (founded in 1995), Blidinje (founded in 1995) and Bardač (1995). Moreover, there are also four national parks and they include: Sutjeska (founded in 1965),  Kozara (1967), Una (2008) and Drina National Park (founded in 2017). If you wonder what is the difference between a national and nature park, it's basically in a degree of protection. Both areas are by definition protected by law, but one is more protected that the other, i.e., a national park is placed under greater protection. You can check out this article for a complete explanation of a difference between nature and national park but I definitely recommend visiting both kinds of parks. Do you have a favourite national or nature park? Do you like to visit such places?

  2. Oh this truly looks like a wonderful way to do a relaxing vacation. And the the hotel looks so romantic. and the food. looks soooooo good! This type of vaca reminds me of my grandparents every summer they would go to the mountains to a lodge style place in the Catskills. Think Dirty Dancing. This style of vacationing was very popular in their day. And love the contrasting pattern look, so chic!

    1. Thank you. It was quite hot if I recall well and that's might seem odd given the extremely high altitude but I guess that's just Mediterranean climate for you.

  9. Blidinje looks like a wonderful vacation spot for how it combines old world charm with beautiful nature. Places like this are really quite perfect for relaxing summer getaways. Hotel Hadjucke Vrleti must be great if you have stayed there before and chosen to return. Return visits are the biggest testament to how good an accommodation is. To be able to dine outside with such marvelous mountain views has to be such a treat. I'm glad to hear that your Crohn's wasn't flaring and you were able to enjoy a salad.
