VISIT THE MAGNIFICENT MOUNTAIN LAKE BLIDINJE WITH ME!

Nature Park Blidinje hides a gem of great beauty: magical lake Blidinje. In the presence of this lake, I found myself overwhelmed by a feeling of complete calmness, perhaps for the first time in many days. Enchanted by its beauty, I walked into the lake. While standing in the lake and gazing into the mountains in the distance, I had a feeling that the time itself halted and the great clock of life stood still. It was a kind of mythical experience, when you feel yourself both small and great before the immense and overwhelming natural beauty.

I have always loved mountains, being surrounded by them my all life. Still, there is always something surreal about a mountain lake, a particular kind of beauty. A feeling of sacredness came over me. So many people regard mountains as sacred and I can understand why. Gazing at them while the wind played with my hair, and the sun stroked my skin, awoke a particular feeling inside if me, a state of tranquility, you might say. I believe this feeling, this unexpected gift of grace, is something we all carry in ourselves, a possibility and capacity for love, gratitude, happiness and freedom. Nature teaches us the lesson of love with its mere existence, speaking to us in the language of silence. In its sacred silence sometimes we find a potent message, a window that opens to the infinity of our soul.

Parco Naturale Blidinje.

Pace. Tante sensazione in poco tempo.

Mogućnost ljubavi, osjećaja sreće i slobode.

Blidinje lake (Blidinjsko jezero) is the largest mountain lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located at an elevation of 1.885 meters (3.888 feet). This lake isn't very deep, its maximal dept is about 3 meters and its average dept is only 0.5 m. Its width and length are a bit over 2 km, but these two can vary depending on weather conditions. Blidinje lake is an immensely impressive sight. As I already mentioned, this was not my first time visiting. However, it was the first time I felt such a sensation of peace and a deep connection to this place.

How do you like lake Blidinje? There is always something unique about a mountain lake, isn't there? I already took you to mountain lake Blidinje in my SIGHTS TO SEE, PLACES TO VISIT: BLIDINJE LAKE  feature, but today I took you there again. Visiting a mountain lake often feels like finding a rare gem. There is nothing quite like it. I was surprised to find the water quite warm. I know that the lake is quite shallow, but I wouldn't expect warmth on this altitude, not even in summer. It was a pleasant surprise for sure. I swear there was a moment, while I was standing in this unexpectedly warm lake, that seemed to linger indefinitely. The wind in my hair, the sun on my skin, the views before me- it all made me feel quite poetical and philosophical (hence the lengthily opening paragraph, written (not translated but written separately- not quite the same thing, takes up  much more time) in three languages.

READ ABOUT MY PREVIOUS VISITS TO NATURE PARK BLIDINJE:
As I pointed out a minute earlier, I had visited this lake in the past. Moreover, nature park Blidinje as a whole is definitely worth a visit. I was there not to long ago and this post isn't the only one I prepared for you. However, until I published another travel post about the magnificent nature Park Blidinje, you're more than welcomed to have a look at my previous ones:

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT
To be completely honest, I had thrown this maxi dress into the car with the sole purpose of taking photographs in it if the opportunity presents itself (and it did). I do like this dress but it is not the most sensible hiking outfit, is it? Our trip to the mountains was only a day long, we didn't stay the night in nature park Blidinje this time so I had no need for this dress (apart from the one I just admitted to). I will show you what I really wore for hiking the nature park Blidinje in my next post. Until then, here is a link to a post showing another way to style this dress (there are quite a few dresses in that post so you'll have to scroll to find it) and another link a post where I linked up the many ways to style these iconic Boromira sandals. That would be it as far as links as concerned. Now I leave you to enjoy the beauty of magnificent mountain lake Blidinje.

As always, thank you for reading and visiting. Tell me what do you think about lake Blidinje. Would you like to pay it a visit? Have you ever visited a mountain lake? Have a lovely week ahead?

  12. Aside from bering very beautiful, lake Blidinje certainly looks like it is very serene even in photos so it makes sense that you had a feeling of complete calmness while there. Nature can be really wonderful in the way it can evoke certain feelings and emotions in us just by being in the midst of it.

  24. Oh that lake looks GLORIOUS! I would adore visiting there. You look so serene and content there and I am not surprised. I DO love a lake. It's lovely to hear that the water was pleasantly heated despite being in the mountains- the rivers in the mountains I paddled in in Greece were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo cold! Your outfit is beautiful. I love the dress. I wore a silly outfit for walking today- a stripy sun dress and it started raining and we all got soaked- none of us brought coats though I at least had an umbrella!

what a beautiful place! And wonderful photos of you in and besides the lake! I also experienced the silence and overwhelming feeling that you described (many years ago - while skiing on a foggy day! There were hardly any people on the mountain and the silence was huge and breathtaking.) I can well understand how wonderful this feeling was for you.

You must tell us your secret. I'm growing my hair out at the moment and can't wait to have it long again. Thank you for showing me the majestic beauty of the mountain lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 14 WAYS TO STYLE ONE BLUE DENIM SKIRT: SUSTAINABLE FASHION FILES

Sustainable fashion is such a hot topic right now, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a fashion revolution. More and more people are trying to minimize their carbon print by re-wearing their clothes and shopping their closets. One good way to build a functioning wardrobe you'll love to shop is to make sure you have a couple of essential items in it. These basic pieces can help you shop your closet more easily and become more sustainable in your fashion choices. A denim skirt is one such classical and essential item.  Today I'll show you ten ways to style a denim skirt. I had this particular denim skirt for a couple of years, it's by Croatian denim brand Amadeus (not sponsored) that I can recommend for its quality denim. For me this skirt is one of those items that are season-less and by that I mean those clothing items that can be worn in any season. If you're creative enough, you can figure out a way to wear most of your clothes in any season, but some ite…

HOW I GOT INSPIRED BY D&G AUTUMN/WINTER 2019/2020 COLLECTION? (PART 1)

Yesterday I finally took the the time to watch (and listen) to the Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2019/2020 collection. The runaway show was organized in retro style and lasted about half and hour. Instead of music, it featured a British narrator who commented on the designs in the old style (that is how fashion shows used to be presented, narrated instead of accompanied by the music). Anyhow, I found the both the narration and the narrator charming. The fact that the narrator pointed out all the materials used was quite helpful. The models seemed to move quite quickly, but there were 127 looks displayed so the show took a quite some time to finish. It took me twice as long to study the photographs as to see the show. The trend analysis took even more time. However, that time was not spent in vain for I was finally inspired to ponder my autumn and winter outfits. What do you know? D&G Autumn/Winter collection gave me plenty of inspiration for the colder season ahead. I don'…

FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY: INSPIRED BY SUMMER STYLE

Time for another FASHION ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY! Today I'll share four fashion illustrations with you. The medium for all these four illustrations is coloured pencils on A4 regular printing paper.  The materials used weren't anything fancy, but I still wanted to share these. I drew two of these sketches without a specific reference. The outfits illustrated were a product of my imagination. However, the other two fashion illustrations were drawn with a reference. I was inspired by two fashion bloggers and I drew the summer outfits they were wearing. The illustrations are drawn in classical proportions, not elongated ones that I often use for fashion sketches. I do draw in different styles, sometimes the choice of style depends on the artistic effect I'm going to and sometimes just on  my mood (especially when I'm not doing anything particulary ambitious).
