HOW TO STYLE A BROWN FAUX LEATHER COAT?

Today I'll show you a couple of ways to start a brown faux leather/ faux fur coat. We'll start with a more dressed up version. Now, this brown coat comes with a faux fur hoodie and that gives it more of a casual vibe, similar to that of a parka jacket. So, I decided to dressed it up with accessories (always the best way to dress up an item). I paired this coat with predominately black accessories: a pair of stilettos, a bag, a pair of earrings and a headband. I also wore a statement necklace. The dress I was wearing under the coat was a simple grey dress (bought at Terranova some time ago), so I wasn't afraid to pile on the accessories.  Scroll down to see and read more.
DIY HEADBAND PROJECT: HOW I HAND SEWED THE FLORAL APPLICATIONS
You already had the chance of seeing this DIY headband many times, but it's been a whole since I showed you how I actually made it. I found some floral applications and just sewed them onto the headband. I often avoid gluing in my DIY projects because glue is not always reliable. I know that gluing seems easier than sewing but in most cases, sewing pays off in the long run. Plus, I'm pretty sure that sewing is more ecologically friendly then gluing. Headbands are a hot trend trend this year. I don't plan to buy any headbands because I already have this DIY one. Moreover, I figured that just by wrapping fabric of some kind (scarf are often ideal) around our headband we can get different looks (see here). Now, this is a great fashion hack if you want to be more sustainable or just save money. Work with the headband you have, accessorize and personalize it instead of buying a new one.
USING ACCESSORIES TO DRESS UP NEUTRAL DRESSES
Here is another post where I spoke about using accessories to dress up our neutral dresses. I love to wear lots of accessories with grey dresses. Grey didn't use to be a colour a reached for often, but now is changed and I especially enjoy styling grey dress. I even designed and made a grey dress in the fashion course I took (you can see it in this 7 WAYS TO STYLE A MIDI GREY DRESS post).
BROWN COATS FOR WINTER
Beige is still trendy, but other (often darker) tonalities of brown are starting to pop out as well. Now, this is something I definitely like to see as I find brown quite easy to style. Brown outwear can be a great option for winter. Speaking of outwear, how do you like my brown coat? This lovely brown faux leather/ faux fur coat is a last year purchase (a gift from significant other). This coat is tailored and I do like that it came with a faux fur hoodie. Perfect coat for cold weather. I think brown coats are a great alternative to black ones. I do own a black coat ( two actually- one short, one long) but I often find myself reaching for coloured coats just because they are so fun to style.
MORE WAYS TO STYLE A BROWN FAUX LEATHER/ FUR COAT
Since I'm a big believer in wearing things more than once, I'll link up more outfit ideas with this cozy brown coat. As I see it, there are predominately two ways I wear it. One is with dresses and skirts. That is the look I opt for when I want to dress femininely in winter. Sometimes that means pairing this coat with heels and comes flat boots can be just as feminine. I do like how this coat looks with heels, it's such an easy way to dress it up. However, heels aren't a must for achieving femininity. I think dressier boots or flats can look just as feminine when worn right.
OPTION A) WITH DRESSES AND SKIRTS FOR A DRESSIER LOOK
I've linked up some of my older posts with this coat, you can click on the image to see it.
OPTION NO. 2: WITH JEANS& LEGGINGS FOR A  CASUAL LOOK
Once again, I linked up some of my older looks. This time I linked up more casual looks. I like how this coat looks with jeans, I have to say. Well, it looks great worn with anything really.
Thank you for reading and commenting. Have a great start of the week!

    Belle foto e outfits! :)
    Baci!

  12. What a fabulous coat, Ivana! I'm a big fan of brown myself, and you can't go wrong with furry trim on a Winter coat. Of all your stylings, I'm loving the dressed-up version the best. It is very chic worn over that simple (but lovely!) grey dress and accessorized with black. The headband you embellished is a delightful touch! I hope you're having a great week, Ivana! I'm having a visit from my overseas bosses, so it has been a stressful few days, but nice! xxx

  14. Taj kaput je savršen, volim kombinaciju kože i krzna i to što je pripijen uz tijelo. Danas je jako teško pronaći takve modele. Također mi se sviđa kako si ga kombinirala uz različite kombinacije. Predivno.

  19. Dear Ivana, I see your coat is absolutely versatile and I like the looks you have created with this coat! Yes, I like your coat, no doubt! In fact I prefer brown in comparison to beige - for me brown has simply more power and although I'm a huge lover of colours it looks like as I can't be befriend with beige :)

  35. That brown coat is a beauty and it looks so glamorous! I like it when you paired it with the black tights, skirt and boots and the long brown boots particularly!
I like your tip about wrapping a scarf around a headband! One blog swap I did, a girl did a DIY headband for me- she bought a black velvet headband and cut out green felt leaves into Holly leaves and added red buttons! It was so cute!
