HEADBAND TREND FOR 2020 (COMFY NYE OUTFIT PROPOSAL)

What to wear for NYE? This question might not be as existential and thought-provoking as the famous Hamlet question, but nevertheless for many of us right now: this is the question! Today I have a comfortable New Year Eve outfit proposal to share with you. If you're lacking inspiration for NYE, you can always turn to classics such as for example the LBD. Here you can see how I layered one of my little black dresses by wearing a red flared top under it and paired it with flat boots. If you plan to wait for NYE outdoors, an outfit like this one (plus a coat obviously), could work really well.

DRESSING UP A LITTLE BLACK DRESS WITH A STATEMENT HEADBAND AND NECKLACE
My proposal of today features one of 'hot' trends: a headband. I've had this particular headband for ages (proof here, here , here and here). I decorated it myself by sewing the glittery bit to it by hand, so there is a DIY element for it. The necklace is another one of my creations. I made it when I was a senior in high school- and that was a while back! I'm 30+ years old, so you do the math. I remember wearing this red choker necklace to my graduation high school exam and getting complements for it from the examiners. I was really into making necklaces back then. I still make them (here, here, here, here) but not as often. Statement accessories can make such a difference, don't you agree? Here is another post where I spoke about using accessories to dress up our neutral dresses

Back to the subject of headband. I really like this headband trend but I don't plan to buy any new ones, instead I plan to wrap different scarves around this one headband I have. That is how I will create more headbands. You can see this simple DIY headband project here. If you are thinking of wearing a headband with your NYE outfit, make sure you find one that you really like and that looks great with your outfit. If your outfit is very festive, you might even opt for a more simple headband. Similarly, if your outfit is simple, you can dress it up with a statement headband. In addition, you can also go a bit overboard and wear a statement headband with a statement dress. Why not? I think we're allowed to wear something a bit over the top for the New Year Eve. Do you agree?

HOW TO DRESS COMFORTABLY FOR NYE?
Now, let's talk comfort. Comfort is a bit relative, some ladies feel very comfy in a dress and heels. It all depends on what you're used to wearing. However, some items are just more practical. A tight clothing item  or one in a wrong size will never be as comfortable as the one in right size. Moreover, some cuts are more comfortable than others. Take this A line dress for example. It is always easier to move in a dress that isn't too tight. If you want to dance the night away, an A-line dress might be the perfect choice. I always say that a dress or a skirt that inspires you to twirl in it is a winner. If you are a fan of my art, there are some cute illustrated A-line dresses in my RB shop.

HOW TO DRESS SENSIBLY FOR NYE?
When dressing for NYE celebration, it is important to consider one thing: the location. If you plan to be indoors in a well heated room, then you don't have a need for much layering, do you? On the other hand, if you plan to spend the New Year celebration in the open, you must layer well. A nice coat or a jacket and a pair of boots should keep you warm. You can always opt for heeled boots to glam up your outfit. However, if you plan to do a lot of walking and dancing, perhaps flat boots are a better option. Best thing to do is to apply common sense and make sure your NYE outfit fits the weather conditions you'll be celebrating in. Style is important but so is safety.

MORE WAYS TO STYLE THIS A-LINE DRESS
Everything about this outfit is old. I'm not sure what I will actually wear for NYE, but this LBD dress is an option. I don't plan to buy anything new, I don't feel the need. I have enough things in my closet. I'm in Mostar right now and that means that I have my full closet at disposal. At the moment, I'm torn between this LBD and one fab vintage dress I have (this one here). I got this LBD in a collaboration  with Rosegal (the dress itself is still available link here) more than a year ago. I've actually worn this dress a couple of times here on blog. It's quite easy to style really. Here you can see how I layered a turtleneck under this square neck dress. Here you can see how I paired it with statement accessories and here how I styled it with a red blazer. This dress has proved more versatile than I thought it will. I like that it is easy to dress up and down. Layering it is pretty simple too. A nice blazer would be such an easy way to dress up this dress and a pair of fancy heels can make it look really formal.

LOCATION BIJELO POLJE IN VICNITY OF MOSTAR
A few words about the location. I've blogged about Bijelo Polje and Vojno a couple of times on my blog. Located in vicinity of Mostar city, Bijelo Polje (literally translated White Field) is an area composing of several villages. There are also fields there (as the name would imply). Surrounded by mountains, this lovely plain is like a greek oasis. Besides river Neretva and lake Mostar, you can see many streams.  Potoci (literally translated it means Streams) is a village we visited. You can notice the catholic church of The Most Holy Heart of Jesus behind me in this shot. It's so beautiful! I think its alpine architecture really fits this place. The area surrounding Mostar city is so gorgeous. There are so many picturesque villages and recreational zones to explore in vicinity.  This village in vicinity of Mostar is a regular stop for a lot of cyclists but we went there by car. Bellow you can find links to my old posts about it:

As always, thank you for reading and commenting!

  10. I love how you layered that red, statement sleeve blouse under your LBD. It looks amazing! As does that pretty necklace! How fantastic that you made it in high school and have kept holding on to it for all these years. I had no idea the headband was a trend. I have a turban style headband made for me by my friend for my birthday, and I'll be wearing that to keep my ears warm and toasty when it's cold. Fancy me being on trend ;-) I love your idea of customizing yours by wrapping different scarves around it. xxx
