Bijelo Polje, Potoci, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Geometric pattern dress

These images were taken in front of the catholic church of The Most Holy Heart of Jesus in Potoci, Bijelo polje (Bosnia and Herzegovina). I've said it many times, I'll say it again. The area surrounding Mostar city is absolutely gorgeous.  There are so many picturesque villages and recreational zones to explore in vicinity. I'll blog more about Mostar city in the near feature, but today I'll talk about this nearby village. We're back in Potoci, literally translated to English the name would be Streams, and this name makes sense because this whole area is rich in rivers, creeks and streams. This village in vicinity of Mostar is a regular stop for a lot of cyclists but we went there by car. When we got there, we stopped in front of this church and took the opportunity to take a few photographs.

I do like the architecture of this church, it complements the mountains in the background beautifully.  Architecture is truly an art form, isn't it? I know some people don't agree with labeling architecture as art, but for me fine architecture is exactly that- an art, an expression of creativity and beauty. There is also a lovely garden surrounding this church, so typically when we stop here, we pay it a visit. Central pieces in this garden are Mediterranean plans and pine trees, but there are also some agave. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, many of us think of agave as Mediterranean, when in reality they originate from Mexico. Did you know that agave blossom only once every 100 years, that is, only once in their lifetime? Here you can see what their blossoms look like. If you want a more detailed view of this place, you can see my previous visits here and here

As I'm sure you can tell from these images, it was a lovely sunny day. I choose to wear a geometric pattern dress and sneakers I got from my husband. I don't know why, but he thinks I look cute wearing sneakers. Anyhow, back to the subject of this dress. I'm a big fan of geometric print, how what about you? To make things even more fun the pattern on this dress is very colourful: blue, white, yellow,  purple and ultra violet are the colours of this dress. That's a lot of colours, but I think they look nice combined in this kind of print. What do you think?

To protect myself from the strong Mediterranean sun, I wore an oversize hat and a pair of sunglasses I painted myself. I also wore sunscreen, but the sun was so strong I had no choice but to hide in the shade. Not that I'm complaining. I love the sun. I just don't think we should expose ourselves to the sun when it is at its strongest. If I can, I'll avoid being outside during 11 am to 3 pm. Most Mediterranean people are like that, they avoid the sun during this period, it's just common sense. Most of us believe in the healing benefits of the sun ( I know I do), but we are also cautious with it. It is all about finding balance. Exposure to sunlight has many health benefits, but it also comes with health risks, so make sure you read a bit about that and learn how to protect your skin from ultra violet rays and so on.

  3. Hello Ivana, how are you? Hope you're having a nice week, dear!

This place looks like the thing I really need right now, in communication with the nature but with a little bit of amazing and breathtaking architecture. Been looking for a weekend escapade to a place like this and I can really see why you are so in love with Mostar and its surroundings, it seems that you could get a lot of inspiration for all the details and trust me this is vital when you're dedicated to art and content creation: to find inspiration in many types of sources.

I also like the outfit you picked, this is the definitely the perfect attire to have a weekend escapade during Spring Summer (we're still waiting for warmer days in Barcelona but all good, I still like rain anyway haha).

And yes! Agaves are from Mexico, you could find a lot of information of pictures on Google, try to search for Jalisco, this is where you will find the coolest agaves and they make tequila out of it :D

Best, I'm gonna read the other posts!

    1. Thank you Pablo. I'm sure you would love it here. I once watched a travel documentary about Mexico, hosted by Croatian journalist and he explained how they make tequila, it was really interesting!

  11. Hello beautiful! Your look is ideal for a walk around the place, also the shoes make a perfect match, I did not know that the agave bloomed once every hundred years I like nature and the succulents are my favorite plants because of their variety and because they are easy to take care and maintain.

  16. Goethe said that architecture is "frozen" music (something like that, not sure how to translate it better), and I agree! It definitely is art! What a gorgeous place you live in, Ivana! The church is beautiful, and the view of mountains and sea nearby...just paradise! Some pictures could be taken here on a warm sunny day - we too have gorgeous mountains, green valleys and the ocean.

You look adorable in keds and this cute dress - colorful, pretty and stylish! <3

  17. The architecture of this church is really beautiful! I agree that architecture is an art form in and of itself. The sun does have some great health benefits like vitamin D but you're right that we need to exercise caution and strike a balance with our exposure.
