STRIPED ITEMS IN MY CLOSET I OFTEN REACH FOR

A key to shopping one's closet perhaps lies is knowing one closet. Think about it this way. If you love a certain clothing item, it might be because you have already learned how to wear it. Today I want to talk a bit about striped items in my closet. These are some of the pieces that I often reach for in spring and summer, so I thought it would be good to do some outfit proposals and ideas with stripes. If we often wear something, it might be for two reasons: we really like it & we're tight with time. There is nothing wrong in relying on pieces you love when you're on the go. Similarly, there is nothing wrong with falling in love with a certain clothing item, cut, print or whatever. Stripes have a way of making any outfit feel more spring & summer appropriate, and that might be one reason why I like them.

A STRIPED CARDIGAN - DIFFERENT WAYS TO STYLE IT
I got this striped cardigan in some collaboration long time ago. It has proved to be very versatile, and I've been wearing it ever since. Scroll down to see four ways to style a striped cardi for spring. I'll link up those outfits I have already posted about.

1. STRIPED CARDIGAN WORN WITH CORD FLARED JEANS

This vintage Peter Pan collar blouse with puffed sleeves is one of my favourites. I love it because it looks great worn with anything from jeans to pencil skirts. Such an easy shirt to dress up and down as well. This little striped item is definitely a vintage treasure. I actually had it since I was a little girl and I still love wearing it.

LONG SLEEVED STRIPED T-SHIRT
This long sleeved t-shirt is from Croatian brand Galeb  (this brand mostly specializes in high quality cotton underwear but over the years they have included clothing items and swimwear in their offer). It used to be husband's but it shrunk because it was accidentally washed on 90 degrees. I've been wearing it ever since. It's one of most comfy items in my closet. A long sleeved striped t-shirt can really come in handy, especially if it is a cotton one like this one. It is perfect for warm days and if it gets too hot for long sleeves, you can always tie it around your waist.

A STRIPED SHORT SLEEVED T-SHIRT

Long sleeved cotton t-shirt with stripes is a great choice for spring and summer, but short sleeves will come in even more handy. A nice striped t-shirt is a classic you can't go wrong with. I don't remember where this one is, I think it's possible it's vintage but I'm not certain. I actually did a little DIY on this tee, I sewed little striped hearts. I got the material for these striped hearts from striped pants my mother made for me when I was teen. I turned these pants into shorts and I was left with some extra material. I decided to use it this way. Bonus point for recycling.

COLOURED STRIPED TOPS

Striped tops are another thing I love reaching for. They look great styled with skirts and jeans. A great spring and summer staple, don't you agree? They can be a great alternative to the classical navy blue on white stripes. In fact, most stripes tops I own come in different colours. Adding colour to our striped items can be a great way of adding a bit of variety.

STRIPED MINI SKIRT
This mini skirt is one of the most worn items I have in my closet. I like it because it's not too short. It comes with an elastic so I can wear it both as a medium rise and high rise skirt (I never wear anything low rise but I could use that option if I wanted) and obviously this makes it super versatile. This striped is so easy to style, it looks great worn with both sneakers and heels. I especially enjoy styling it in stripes on stripes outfits. Do you like all striped outfits too?

DRESSES WITH STRIPES
If you're not sure if stripes are for you, you can always try going for smaller stripe print. Personally, I love those big striped prints, but there is something to be said about the elegance of a more subtle striped print like the one you can see on this dress bellow. Scroll down to see both the subtle and the classical striped dress outfit ideas.

That would be all for today. I hope you have enjoyed these striped outfit proposals. Do you enjoy wearing the striped print? Do let me know what you think about these outfits. Thank you for stopping by. Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. I love the stripes on stripes and I really want a striped cardigan like yours! I have a striped duster but it's a bit light and it's not as cosy as it could be for autumn!

Stripes are definitely my favourite print, so easy to wear :)

Hope that you have a lovely weekend ahead of you :)

  3. That striped cardigan is fantastic! Styled beautifully. Your Peter Pan collar top is super cute. I have accidentally shrunk clothing items in the wash. Oops! The hearts on the t-shirt are very fun. I feel like I need to go find some more striped pieces for my closet now.

  14. There's a univeral truth in what you're saying at the start of your post, that in order to shop one's closet, one should know one's closet! And you certainly do, Ivana! There are so many lovely outfits to choose from here. I love the shape of that striped cardi, which makes it a very versatile piece. The vintage Peter Pan collar blouse made me sigh with happiness. So cute! That striped mini skirt with the striking irregularly striped top and the oh-so-cute bow necklace. And finally, the stiped red and white dress which has a definite 60s vibe! Have a wonderful evening and Sunday, Ivana! xxx
