ART AND OUTFIT UPDATE: YELLOW JUMPSUIT AND PORTRAITS

Yesterday the two of us got back from visiting Croatia. We managed to get a lot of things done, so I could say it was a successful trip. We both got vaccinated with the first dose of vaccine while we were in Croatia and we will go back for a second one in about a month.  If you want me to write about the vaccination in Croatia some more, let me know in the comments and I will cover this subject some time in the future. I have an immune illness so explaining my decision with regards to vaccination would take a lot of space and I would need to devote a special post to this subject. While we were in Croatia, I didn't manage to find time to work on my art, but I took four paintings with me. I gifted three of my new canvas (I haven't showed all of them to you yet) and shipped one canvas that I sold to London. The shipping process proved less complicated in Croatia, so that is why I decided to carry my canvases with me. Today I will show you two things: some of my portrait art/illustrations and an outfit I wore featuring a yellow jumpsuit I have been wearing a lot lately. 

This yellow jumpsuit was one of the items I decided to pack for my trip to Croatia. I ended up wearing it a lot. It's easy to wear so I choose it for a coffee date with my husband.  I styled it with a neon green vintage blazer  and a pair of black boots. I actually took this green blazer back to Mostar with me. There is one button missing and I want to fix that. The building behind me is occupied by the faculty of Art and Humanities I believe. I think they have Korean studies there now as well. It used to belong to Brodomerkur company if I recall well. When I was a teen, this is where some of my friends and I would take our 'outfit photographs' because we liked the surroundings. However, these photographs weren't call outfit photographs back then. I'm in my mid thirties so that was more than 20 years ago and decades before Instagram, FB and other social media. We were practically the only ones doing it back then- and we did it just for the fun of it. These photographs, however, were taken in the present times and by my husband. We stopped for a coffee in this neighbourhood and went for a walk. 

 MORE WAYS TO STYLE THIS YELLOW JUMPSUIT+ ART UPDATE- I have two more outfit proposals with this outfit. Now, I haven't worn these two jumpsuit outfits bellow outside yet (just around the house- but I do get often get dressed up at home). As you can see, these photographs were taken on my balcony while I was documenting some of my illustrations and art. One outfit idea with this jumpsuit is to style it with a purple shirt/jacket. I bought this shirt (or a jacket if you will) in a small shop in Mostar years ago. There was no brand name on it, just made in Thailand tag. The shirt has some yellow in it, so it matches well with this jumpsuit.  I do like the combination of purple and yellow.

Another outfit idea with this yellow jumpsuit is to style it with a grey blazer. Grey and yellow are Pantone colours of the year 2021 after all. I already tried this combo when I wore this jumpsuit with a grey shirt here.

 PAINTING #1: A DARK HAIR GIRL WITH A YELLOW AURA 

I painted this one with some left over acrylic paints at about 3 am some time ago. That night I stayed up late working on my seascapes and since I had some left over paint, I decided to paint one portrait. I didn't use a reference. This painting is very rich in colour,  especially in warm earthy tones. I feel like there is some deeper meaning behind it that I haven't discovered yet. Does it speak to you? I might come back to this one and make some corrections some time in the future. Alternatively, I might paint a new version. PAINTING #2: A GIRL WITH BRAIDS AND A ROSE (OIL PASTELS ON PAPER)

I made this painting to practice using and blending oil pastels. I got a package of oil paints from a Russian brand Sonnet a while ago. A friend sent them to me. I'm still learning how to use them. I think I'm getting the hang of it. The trick to blending with oil pastels is to blend one colour with another. It might feel a bit counter intuitive and strange at first, but soon you'll get use to it. I like this portrait. The pil pastels make it super saturated and I just love these vibrant colours. I didn't use a reference for this one. Another lady from my imagination. This one has dark hair and blue eyes. I added the rose and afterthought. I love drawing and painting flowers.

PAINTING #3: A GIRL WITH RED HAIR (WATERCOLOUR PENCILS)

I absolutely love this watercolour illustration. I sketched it with a regular pencil first and then I drew over that with watercolour pencils. I worked without a reference in one of my small  sketchbooks. I added water later and turned it into a watercolour portrait. I also played a little bit with digital editing when it comes to this one because I liked it so much. She reminds me of a modern Venus. I'm pretty sure that I can blame Italian Renaissance painters for my obsession with painting gingers.
