A WATERCOLOUR ILLUSTRATION OF A HORSE + A HIKING OUTFIT
Hello! Today I'll take you hiking. I will show you an outfit I wore for hiking on Planinica hill (one of the hills overlooking Mostar city). The views from this hills are nothing short of spectacular. As readers of my blog will know, I used to visit this place pretty often. I plan to visit it more in the following months. If you want to know more about Planinica, you're welcome to visit my own posts (links here and here). While we were hiking, we came across some horses. We didn't take any photographs. It's been a while since our last visit, so I think some of these horses forgot our faces (or weren't born yet) and anyway I didn't want to disturb them by taking photographs. I actually have a lot of local horse photographs in my blog archives ( here and here).
For this visit, I wore a comfortable spring styling. A jacket was a must because it can get windy there but I also wore a straw hat to protect myself from the sun. My outfit consisted from a burgundy jacket I picked up at Mana, a floral dress I wore more than thirty times, a pair of leggings, no brand sneakers and a no brand white straw hat I picked up in a supermarket. This proved ideal for our hike. Moreover, today I'll share an illustration of a horse with you. It seems appropriate since I was inspired by local horses I have meet in these mountains (some tamed, some semi-wild or wild) so far.
This illustration of mine makes me think of Goranci more than Planinica. Goranci is a village in vicinity. The horse there are not wild, though. I blogged about those hoses many times in the past. Bellow is a collage with some photographs from Goranci and I will also leave you some links bellow.

THE STORY OF AN OUTFIT- All of these items are from my closet. The straw hat is a recent additions, all of the other items are old. Bellow are some links if you want more ideas on styling these items. See how I wore this straw hat before here. BURGUNDY JACKET (worn here and here and here.) As always, thank you for visiting this little place to call by own. Take care!
ohmy i love horses! And the view with you standing there in your floral dress is so breathtaking. I hope you are well and keeping healthy. Thank you for sharing your horse illustration. I don't know how to draw a horse hahaha and I don't think it'll come out looking like a horse. You did a wonderful job to capture the free spirit of the stunning horse :D Wow, that's a lot of horses I just typed there. Sorry, just horsing around LOL :D xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Shanaz.
DeleteAww, it's gorgeous! I love the landscape. Your outfit is so cute and very appropriate too. The horses are beautiful, I love them. Your illustration of the horse is very nice too. Gosh, what a fantastic post! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a great area and the horses are adorable.
DeleteSuch great inspiration for the "horse" project. I am sure you will do lots of drawing from this. Horses do have a certain personality. Love the floral dress. Beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellie.
DeleteWow, a wonderful outdoor adventure. Awesome illustration. Let's call him Storm! So glad you are out and about.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteA marvelous excursion, dearest Ivana! You know I love hiking like you. And when there are also animals to see - such as beautiful horses - then I am completely happy. Your hiking outfit looks practical and elegant at the same time, that's probably what the wide-brimmed hat does! :-) I also like your horse illustration very much. Although I like animals, I am not very good at painting them ...

Thank you Traude. It can all be learned with practice. Painting animals is no more difficult than painting anything else. You can always try using some templates.
DeletePlaninica hill looks like a wonderful place to hike with all that beautiful scenery and pretty horses roaming about. Your outfit is the perfect mix of style and comfort. That straw hat looks like a really nice and practical accessory. I love a good wide brimmed hat for sun protection as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rowena.
DeleteThe floral dress looks lovely and I really like the pink scarf in your straw hat :)
ReplyDeleteGreat illustration of the horse too, it's nice you can get so close to wild horses!
Hope your week is off to a good start :) It's a very cold and wintery one here!

DeleteI love horses (I have since I was a young girl), but they are a little scary up close and in person! Cool to see your illustration! I need a floppy hat like that, but they never seem to fit my head right.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheila. Yes, sometimes it is hard to find the right size for a hat.
DeleteOMG...you're going to laugh at the blog post I'm publishing next week....my horse is a little different than yours!!
ReplyDeleteBut your painting is beautiful Ivana!!

Thank you Jodie.
DeleteHey Ivana, I hope you're having a good start of the week!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post because you're showing us a different point of view of Mostar City! It is amazing to discover how a place can have artchitecture + story and then a lot of breathtaking landscapes and places to re-connect with the nature :)
We also have our version of Planinica hill, well Barcelona is full of high hills and mountains and it is cool to go, do some hiking and appreciate the city from above! I loved the view from there and the fact that you picked a comfortable but stylish outfit! That flower print is marvelous and also the hat.
Your interpretation of the horse using watercolor pencils is also nice! I was practicing with these pencils last week and it was nice to see how you can get tons of different textures with one material!
Checking the other posts I missed! Stay safe :)!

Thank you Pablo. Watercolour pencils are interesting, aren't they?
DeleteHorses are such magnificent creatures, aren't they, especially (semi)wild ones! You've captured it beautifully in your watercolour illustration. I'm also loving your colourful hiking outfit. It always pleases me to see that like me you are dressing up for hikes. And why not? Love your floppy hat, which reminds me to put a couple of Summer hats in the car in readiness for our next hike! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes, horses are absolutely fascinating animals!
DeleteWow I like horses so much and I know how difficult it is to draw them, yours is perfect, I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThe view is also breathtaking. You finally gave in to the appeal of consumption and bought a hat ahahah!! It's beautiful and you look great with it!
