Art Exhibition by Ivica Vlasić: The Beauty Of Wild Horses Captured On Breath-Taking Paintings

Recently, I've attended an art exhibition of a well known Croatian painter Ivica Vlasić in Aluminij Gallery in Mostar. I've seen some of works before, in churches and private collections, but this was my first time to actually attend an exhibition of his. I was really looking forward to seeing it and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the exhibition and I was very much impressed with the paintings.  First a few words about the painter himself, and then I'll tell you a bit more about my impressions.

Born in 1954 ( Vareš, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Ivica Vlašić graduated at Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1976. The same year he went to Paris to further his studies. In 1987, Ivica Vlašić went to specialize painting in Warsaw at the Academy of Fine Arts on a stipend from Polish government. Ivica Vlasić has had 53 individual and over 150 group exhibitions. He has been organizing and teaching art classes and colonies for years.  He received numerous awards and recognition for his humanitarian and creative work.

As I said, I really liked this exhibition. Most of the art displayed were oil on canvases, but there were some other medias represented as well.  The motives were varied, but the exhibition was dominated by paintings of wild horses. Imagine my surprise when I recognized some of these wild horses. I've encouraged some of our wild horses in the past, and I was able spot those horses I knew right away.  The way this painter captured the emotional life of wild horse herds was incredible. You can literally see the tenderness in the horses' eyes. The way he painted the connection that exists between herd members (especially between a mare and her calf) is so touching. Besides horses there were also several paintings of Dalmatia (in Croatia) and Livno area (in Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Have you ever heard that expression 'third time's a charm' or 'third time lucky'? If yes, do you find it to be true? I would have to go with yes, because in life we often have to keep trying. If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again- as the lyrics of Try Again teach us. Does anyone remember that Aailayah's song or am I too old?  Anyway, I think that's a pretty good message for all of us. We just have to keep trying. You see a few days ago, when I saw that there is a new exhibition, I stormed in there, but I was asked to leave and come back later because they were just hanging the paintings. The next day I went there in again, this time with company, but the lady who works there was just mopping the floor. She invited us to come in anyway, and she was really nice about it, but we didn't want to ruin the newly washed floor so we promised to be back tomorrow.  So the next day, I finally  managed to see this art exhibition. Third time's a charm, right? I went to see it again a few days later. So, I've already seen it two times. I might go in again and have another look, while the paintings are still up. I like to visit art exhibitions at least twice. One time alone so I can really concentrate, and other time with company so I have someone to comment paintings with. I do love to visiting exhibitions. I don't always manage to 'report' on them here on blog, but I'll try to do better in the future. You have to try to find time for things you love, right? Do more of what you love and all that. Speaking of it, how do you like these paintings?

The outfit I wore was very simple. A graphic tee paired with a striped skirt. Do you like wearing skirts? If you do, you can find some lovely ones at  women skirt.

  6. Dearest Ivana, these horse pictures are wonderful, very detailed and realistic. I understand very well, why you liked this exhibition and were there twice! I think it's a good idea to go to art exhibitions twice because you can not grasp everything the first time around. Unfortunately I didn't take the time for two visits so far, once had to be enough. But maybe I will try it in the future?
I also find your exhibition outfit very chic, beautiful skirt and cool New Yorker shirt!
Hugs my dear and happy sunday,
    Traude

    1. yes, you're right, sometimes when we see something the first time we can't fully grasp it, especially when it comes to art that is beautiful but overwhelmingly so.

  10. Ivana you look absolutely beautiful! I love your outfit for the occasion and oh my gosh I'm so jealous of your bronzed summer skin haha. The exhibitions looks wonderful and the amount of oil on canvas must have been so much fun to browse; the white horse in particular is stunning. Hope you have a lovely week ahead!!

All your comments mean a lot to me, even the criticism. Naravno da mi puno znači što ste uzeli vrijeme da nešto napišete, pa makar to bila i kritika. Per me le vostre parole sono sempre preziose anche quando si tratta di critiche.

My fashion illustration of the day + book review / Moja modna ilustracija dana + ogled knjige ( Le Diable au corps) 6.12.2016

This morning I read an amazing novel. Le Diable au corps (translated as The Devil In the Flesh) is a novel by Raymond Radiquet. Believe it or not, this was by first book by this French writer. I don't think I even heard of him before, which is odd, but well, it happens. In his time, Raymond was quite a celebrity and he is still considered as one of the important French writers of that period. Did I like this novel? Quite frankly, I loved it. I just couldn't put this novel down. I must have read it an hour or so. I got up a bit more earlier this morning so I actually had time to read it with my morning coffee (it is not a very long novel but still it is amazing how easy it was to find one's self glued to those pages). Perhaps I should make it a habit, getting up more early so I can read more.
Jutros sam pročitala divan roman. Đavo u tijelu  (naslov izvornika Le Diable au corps) je roman Raymonda Radiqueta. Vjerovali ili ne, ovo je moj prvi roman ovoga pisca. Mislim da nika…

Fashion illustrations of the day (markers)

Hello darlings! How are you? Can you believe that February ends today? This month has just flown by. I know it's the shortest month in the year but still. Today I'm going to share 3 fashion illustrations and sketches with you. The medium for all of them is marker on paper. I don't work with markers that often, but sometimes it is good to try something different. The fashion sketches I'm sharing are all about 3 colours: purple, green and red. Spring is in the air, so this is my reflection on all those trends for the new season. The first illustration shows a girl wearing a purple and blue jumpsuit. The second illustration features a girl wearing a transparent green dress with a top and a skirt under that dress. The third illustration shows two girls in red gowns.

February Recap (art & DIY projects & outfits)

I've put a lot of effort into blogging this February, I hope it shows. As far as the content goes, February was similar to January, mostly a mix of my illustrations and outfit posts (here). This month I was full of positing ideas and I managed to make many of them happen. I feel pretty good about that. The only thing I feel bad about is making my blog monolingual and not using my other languages, but translating texts from English to other languages takes such a long time. It is so much easier to just write in English.  Hopefully, I'll manage to change that and make my blog multilingual again. I need to organize my time better. Fingers crossed. For March I already have a few posts prepared. You can expect more art (mostly fashion illustrations) & outfit posts.

DIY PROJECTS
I shared two DIY projects in February, one about making a Barbie dress, the other was about how to paint a plant container. I don't have any DIY projects prepared for March, but I'm sure that I…
