Art Exhibition by Ivica Vlasić: The Beauty Of Wild Horses Captured On Breath-Taking Paintings

Recently, I've attended an art exhibition of a well known Croatian painter Ivica Vlasić in Aluminij Gallery in Mostar. I've seen some of works before, in churches and private collections, but this was my first time to actually attend an exhibition of his. I was really looking forward to seeing it and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the exhibition and I was very much impressed with the paintings.  First a few words about the painter himself, and then I'll tell you a bit more about my impressions.

Born in 1954 ( Vareš, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Ivica Vlašić graduated at Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in 1976. The same year he went to Paris to further his studies. In 1987, Ivica Vlašić went to specialize painting in Warsaw at the Academy of Fine Arts on a stipend from Polish government. Ivica Vlasić has had 53 individual and over 150 group exhibitions. He has been organizing and teaching art classes and colonies for years.  He received numerous awards and recognition for his humanitarian and creative work.

As I said, I really liked this exhibition. Most of the art displayed were oil on canvases, but there were some other medias represented as well.  The motives were varied, but the exhibition was dominated by paintings of wild horses. Imagine my surprise when I recognized some of these wild horses. I've encouraged some of our wild horses in the past, and I was able spot those horses I knew right away.  The way this painter captured the emotional life of wild horse herds was incredible. You can literally see the tenderness in the horses' eyes. The way he painted the connection that exists between herd members (especially between a mare and her calf) is so touching. Besides horses there were also several paintings of Dalmatia (in Croatia) and Livno area (in Bosnia and Herzegovina).

Have you ever heard that expression 'third time's a charm' or 'third time lucky'? If yes, do you find it to be true? I would have to go with yes, because in life we often have to keep trying. If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again- as the lyrics of Try Again teach us. Does anyone remember that Aailayah's song or am I too old?  Anyway, I think that's a pretty good message for all of us. We just have to keep trying. You see a few days ago, when I saw that there is a new exhibition, I stormed in there, but I was asked to leave and come back later because they were just hanging the paintings. The next day I went there in again, this time with company, but the lady who works there was just mopping the floor. She invited us to come in anyway, and she was really nice about it, but we didn't want to ruin the newly washed floor so we promised to be back tomorrow.  So the next day, I finally  managed to see this art exhibition. Third time's a charm, right? I went to see it again a few days later. So, I've already seen it two times. I might go in again and have another look, while the paintings are still up. I like to visit art exhibitions at least twice. One time alone so I can really concentrate, and other time with company so I have someone to comment paintings with. I do love to visiting exhibitions. I don't always manage to 'report' on them here on blog, but I'll try to do better in the future. You have to try to find time for things you love, right? Do more of what you love and all that. Speaking of it, how do you like these paintings?

The outfit I wore was very simple. A graphic tee paired with a striped skirt. Do you like wearing skirts? If you do, you can find some lovely ones at  women skirt.

  4. Dearest Ivana, these horse pictures are wonderful, very detailed and realistic. I understand very well, why you liked this exhibition and were there twice! I think it's a good idea to go to art exhibitions twice because you can not grasp everything the first time around. Unfortunately I didn't take the time for two visits so far, once had to be enough. But maybe I will try it in the future?
I also find your exhibition outfit very chic, beautiful skirt and cool New Yorker shirt!
Hugs my dear and happy sunday,
    Traude

    1. yes, you're right, sometimes when we see something the first time we can't fully grasp it, especially when it comes to art that is beautiful but overwhelmingly so.
